Thanks for the congrats on six months Sara. I can't believe it has been that long...! Thanks also for the tremendous support and encouragement I have received since joining this thread. Things had been going quite well for me until this week, when I suddenly got very hungry and have been eating over my allowance of 1450 per day. I have still been logging everything, but not here on CC, I have been too busy to check-in daily (helping an elderly relative with ocular shingles - poor lady - not a nice thing to have at all). I bought a great little app for my iphone which is very simple and easy to use and I log everything on my phone now. If I get a chance in the next couple of days I will find a recipe and put it on the thread! Have a great week everyone! Christine |

Weekly Check-in: I am still feeling positive in spite of the terrible storms we are having at the moment which are keeping me housebound! I am trying to clear out some of my clutter, which is long overdue! Going up and down stairs all day and climbing in and out of the attic is quite a good workout...?!!! The weekly topic - needs some research! I'll have to get back to you on that. Meantime, have a good week everyone! Christine |

Sara - Thanks for the reminders! Sorry not to have checked in sooner, I've been so incredibly busy, just had no spare time for the computer. Just checking in now to say NO - I am not off the wagon! In fact, just the opposite. I am really pleased with the way I have been doing goal-wise. I would say that for this 1/4, I am well on track. I have managed to lose the 7 lbs that I gained over the holidays, which is a great relief to me, I was really fed up about the gain. I have been consistently under my weekly average of 10,500 calories, and I am fitting in walking whenever I have a moment. I suppose that is where all my computing time has gone! Take care everyone, have a great weekend! Christine |

12 Week Goal By April 4th, I will be consuming an average of 1500 calories a day and exercising 3 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. I have left the exercising bit vague so that I can do any exercise I like! I am more likely to reach my goal that way Cheers, Christine |

Msmeg So sorry to hear about your puppy. Many puppies are born with a slight heart murmur (or puppy murmur) that clears up by itself after 4-6 months. Let's hope the murmur will be one of those. Try to stay positive for your sake and for the puppy's sake too - they can sense your sadness! Thinking of you both. Christine |

Hi Everyone - sorry to be so late posting, thanks Sara for the reminder! Hope the news will be good on the job front. Weekly check in I have done well this week, the fresh start of the New Year has inspired me and I am very happy that I lost 4.5lbs of the water weight I put on over Christmas and the New Year! Bringing back the scale and joining the January weight loss challenge has been a good move for me. I think it is what I need right now! This weeks Topic - Part 1 Looking back over the last 12 weeks I think I can say I have been about 50% successful in meeting my goals, which is not good enough! So I am going back to basics for the next 12 weeks. Part 2 When I post my goals next week for the next 12 weeks, I am going to keep it simple and drop all the stuff about deficits and exact amounts of exercise! What has been fun over the holidays, (and a good arm workout!) has been playing guitar hero Cheers! Christine

Name: Christine WOO HOO! Jumps around the room in delight! I was hoping most of the Christmas and New Year gain was water weight! I am so pleased Thank you so much Claire for hosting this challenge, it has been a real motivator for me this week! Hope everyone else has a good weigh in. |

pam - I know how you are feeling too! Please do not give up! Here is an interesting link I found in the Health and Support forum. You might find it worth a visit, there's lots of good advice there: Why The Scale Lies - by Renee Cloe, ACE Certified Personal Trainer wild - so glad your computer is up and running again - Happy Surfing papa and shawna - hope you are having a good day - I can relate to the nomad stuff having spent most of my life travelling overseas! I am finding it hard to think that this is it and I will have to live in one place, apart from short trips on vacation, now my husband has retired. Cheers, Christine |

Original Post by jcr: Hi Everybody! A belated Happy New Year to you! I have been reading your thread and having a great laugh, particularly on the link to the baby boomers animation! I would like to join you. I have gained and lost the same amount of weight over and over too! Still can't figure out why I do it to myself. Anyway January is always a new start for me and so I feel good again and that I can shift some weight before spring and a trip to San Francisco in April. I have never been there and am looking forward to it so much! Have a good week everyone! |

Hi everyone - "shouts" - HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry I haven't posted much since I found you all. Been way too busy entertaining family and friends and eating and drinking too much... I am so happy it is finally January 1 and I can start again on my health and fitness goals. I feel bad about my fellow Blue Team members on Biggest Loser Challenge, I have really let them down. My last weigh-in was terrible, but I felt I had to finish the Challenge and enter the dreaded weight. Hope those Blue Team members on here will forgive me... Christine |

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Just checking in! Got on the scales this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks - ouch what a shock! So I've joined the January weight loss challenge. I feel I need the accountability of a weekly weigh-in at the moment. Defrog - Congratulations! Be sure to take extra good care of yourself! Wenchie - I have Wii-Fit - it is great fun! I find it particularly helpful when the weather is bad and I cannot get outside for my daily walks. I particularly like the jogging - it is so complimentary to me about my running technique, which no one else has ever been! (It can't see me of course!) The step exercises are good too. I haven't tried the more advanced stuff. Fitness Tip - find a fitness routine that you enjoy - then maybe you will do it! I have just discovered T-Tapp Fit and Fabulous in 15 minutes, I will let you know how it goes... Have a great week everyone! |

Weekly Check In Part 1 I am not 100 percent on track! Maybe 50 percent...? I certainly don't have a chance to achieve my goals in the next three weeks. However, I am pleased that I am 50 percent of the way there and I hope to do better when the holiday season is over! Maybe next time I should cut my aims by about 25 percent and I might achieve them! Part 2 I have used the CC recipe tool to enter a starter that I am planning to make for the holidays. It is very tasty and simple to do, but I am not sure how healthy you would consider it to be...! Asparagus, mozzarella & prosciutto parcels Have a very Happy Christmas everyone! Christine |

Weekly check in! Thanks Sara for the reminder! Hi everyone - no time to read all the posts this week, however I hope you are all doing well and have a great Christmas. My current exercise routine is walking for half and hour in the morning and another half an hour in the evening. I chose it because I like walking! It is effective in that it makes me feel good - the downside is the bad weather we are having at the moment! |

Denise - I lived in quite a few countries in the Middle East - Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Egypt, I think of all these the Egyptian cuisine was the most varied, the others were all pretty similar, the common bedouin heritage I suppose! I would love to try the Iranian restaurant in NYC - hoping to visit NY again one day. Looking forward to our recipe topic |

hi wild! My instinct is to say to you "take a break"! You have done so amazingly well! Don't eat everything in sight over the holidays, but don't stress too much about the scales either. Try to focus on something else other than numbers on the scale for a while - for example your new grandbaby...:) Then in the New Year, start again, refreshed! Please don't say "to heck with it" because you have been such an inspiration to us all. You will get off this plateau, but I think your body needs time to adjust before you can take off the next bunch of weight. You can and will succeed, you have proved that by how well you have done so far! Thinking of you! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Christine |

Sara - I remember the soul-crushing waiting phase post interviews only too well! I used to console myself with the thought that if they did not hire "fantastic me" then I would probably not have fitted in and it would have not been the right job for me anyway. I like the sound of the job with all the mac computers - love mine too! Sending positive vibes your way. Denise - like the idea of recipes round the world, I've got lots of favorites from countries I've lived and worked in - particularly the Middle East! Even if we don't go that detailed, as Sara says, we could slip them in under the seasonal recipes perhaps...? Good luck to you and Amber with the job interviews! Christine |

Hi everyone! I agree with the majority so far - I would be interested in recipe exchanges, exercise tips and how to stay motivated! carryonandon - thanks for the cookie recipe - sounds delicious - looking forward to trying it! wenchie - so pleased to hear that you are feeling great! Try not to get too frustrated at not being able to do all you want to do, you have come through such a major procedure! Hope you had a good meeting with the transplant dietician today and that she gave some good advice. jessicaann - sending you good vibes! At least you made it to the gym once, which is more than can be said for me! Just keep thinking about that cruise - that should get you back on track. constanza - welcome! Looking forward to getting to know you. sara - good luck with the interviews! Take care. Christine |

Hi everybody! Thanks wild for the invitation to join you all here! Hello again papa - wild told me that your knee is doing well, I'm so glad. I've missed your messages, so full of inspiration and good humor! Hope you have all had a good weekend. The round of Christmas drinks, lunches and carol services has started here already! "Also, please respond to the questions in my post #438 so we can improve this challenge next time. Thanks!"
Hi Alle! First of all, thank you for all your hard work in running this challenge, and for even thinking about the next! I think a shorter challenge might be a good idea. I always start off full of enthusiasm, then don't achieve anything in the middle - which seems to drag on a bit - and then try too hard in the last couple of weeks! I would be happy with 6-8 weeks, depending on what everyone else thinks. I agree with jkppt that there will be a lot of interest after the first of the year. Also, I agree that a prize should not be necessary but a logo for the winners would be good! Have a good week everyone. Christine |

Hope this helps: How to export your Firefox bookmarks to a bookmark.html file so that you may import it into another application. 1. Open Firefox. 2. Select Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks. 3. The Bookmarks Manager opens. Click File > Export… 4. Save the bookmark.html file wherever you wish. I usually prefer the Desktop.
Now you can use the file to import the bookmarks into another program. Good luck!
