I have the exact same experience that you've described above, sherriphx. 100% agree that those would be another good target area for enhancements.

Great tips guys, thanks.  I'll try to work through the recipes area.  That should help at least some.

It's so good to hear from you guys.  I've missed my on-line buddies.  Like you, I've completely let go of trying to control diet & excercise in these last couple of holiday months.  Adding to the chaos, my house is undergoing a remodeling that began in mid-Nov.  There's plastic everywhere, furniture cleared and piled in corners of other rooms and a layer of dust over everything.  We should be done by the end of January.

I weighed myself a couple of days ago for the first time in weeks.  (It wasn't good.)  So, I'm ready to get going again too.  I'm planning to start the year with the southbeach diet.  It will be tough but I know it will yield quick results if I can get through the first 2 weeks.

Today, I plan to spend a good part of my day reflecting on the year and setting goals for next year.  I'm grateful for meeting you guys on this site.  I think of you often.  Best wishes for the new year.

I followed through on my 2 mile/30 minute commitment yesterday.  Calories stayed within goal, but they did include a burger and a lot of fries. (only 1/2 a bun through)  Every little bit has to help.

Weighed in at 137.  I'm ok with that considering my recent layed back weeks. Our renewed weight tracking post follows this entry.

I want to get a jump on the rest of the holiday festivities too.  I'd be happy just to break even at the end of it all.  Like you said Smader, if I can do that, at least the new year will begin at a lower weight than last year.  I'll weigh in tomorrow (Sat.).  Today I woke up with swollen fingers.  I'm sure the food and drink yesterday bloated my bod.  Perhaps tomorrow I'll be closer to norm.  I haven't bothered to check the scale for a couple of weeks now.  So it will be a surprise to see the facts that I'll be having to work on.  I plan to get out and walk/jog for 2 miles.  I haven't done a darn thing in quite a while other than walk my dog.

I missed you guys.  I think we’re down to the 3 of us.  Snehvide, I’m so glad you posted.  You look so happy in your new pic.  I got a closer look through your gallery and noticed that our little site, and group were on your computer.  It’s so awesome to know that we’re connecting in our homes across the globe.

Also, I went to check out Denmark’s time and weather when I saw your post.  Man, it’s cold out there.  Smader may also have frigid  conditions, but today we were in the high 60’s lower 70’s in Austin, tx.

I have to admit that I got a tired of logging calories and seeing my weight move up and down but not to the degree that I wanted.  We’re coming up on our thanksgiving holiday here, so getting back into the swing of things before next Monday is pretty unlikely.  Either way, I’m going to check in regularly again.

BTW where’d you go?  Jerusalem?  Smader, what have you been up to?

welcome ergmg glad you're here.

Guess what? I'm at 134 today!!!! flip, flip, cartwheel.

I just can't believe it.  The jeans are feeling looser, the tummy roll that appears when I'm sitting has definately gotten smaller, and my rings are slipping around a little bit on my fingers.  This is just unbelievable.  I sure credit you guys for helping me week after week.  Smader, I'll be looking out for your challenge.  I'm up for it.

Look forward to hearing from you guys.

Here I am....  I went up a pound to 137.8.  Still it's continued progess=having stayed below the 140's for a few wks now.   I mentioned to smader, that I got so mad at my scale b/c the first time I stepped on it, it read 135 ish.  But, since I don't accept the # until it has appeared 3 times,  here I am at 137.8. My current rountine is still pretty lame, no alcohol and no exercise.

Do you guys have the same problem with your scale?  Mine fluctuates a lot.  Usually its only within .2 - .4 lbs.  I'm so glad to hear from you guys.  It's a beautiful weekend here.  Big football game coming up soon.  Did you know my Longhorns are #1 right now?  Snehvide, I'd definately understand if you weren't aware of that.  Talk to you guys soon.

Hi all!  Happy Friday.  I'm excited to report that I'm down another smidgen... (.4) for a weigh in of 139!  Still cutting all alcohol, no exercise and eating junk food for snacks.  I'm also smack dab in the middle of my cycle.  Needless to say I'm happy and wish I could have seen the results w/o my monthly visitor weighing in. (no pun intendedWink).  This weekend I plan to pick up the excercise again and continue that through next week.  Hope you all have a good weigh in to.

Great going snehvide!  I totally get the alligator.  Mine looks the same way.

Hi all! - I'm glad to see that everyone continues to share trials and tribulations here.  I'm down 1.6! 139.4.   This with no calorie counting, eating a modest amount of carbs and no excercise.  What the heck?!! I cut out all alcohol.  It's working, to say the least.  This is my 5th consecutive week of baby step decreases.

Smader - have a great time at the wedding this weekend.  Keep your running up those days and dance your arse off!  You'll be fine.

Snehvide - Awesome on your first 5K!  The races are pretty inspiring and the morning air is so refreashing.  Regarding the 2 lbs, as I recall your pretty close to my cycle.  Could be the onset of water retention.  (Are we getting to know each other to well here or what!)

Katydid22 - glad to have you.  I'm starting your current weight as of last week's weigh in @ 148.5.  This is the middle of the range you mentioned.  Check in with us on your weigh in for today.

Renekane - girl, I'm so glad you shared with us.  This place is a lot more than #'s on the scale. Of course we're all here to help you in your healing and emotional recovery.  Keep yourself moving it's important to our sanity.

Geeze Balehead, never a dull moment at your house.  I'm sorry your going through all the chaos.  Hope it's been better these past few days.

Tomorrow, I'll be going to the Univ. of Tex. to kick off a program called Marathon Kids.  Elementary school kids from all the surrounding school districts participate by keeping track of their miles between tomorrow & mid-Feb . on a pie chart sheet.  Each pie is split in quarters so they can color in a slice for every 1/4 mile.  Feb. is when the Austin marathon occurs.  Lance Armstrong who lives here will be at the event.  I'm quite a fan. Kiss At that marathon they run their last mile.  I should be able to get a little jog in myself.  Then of course the UT football game.  Ooooo I can't wait!  I'll check in later to update the chart.  Have a good one.

Ahh, a beautiful Sunday morning here in the heart of Texas.  A nice win by the Longhorns yesterday, along with a lot of top ten upsets, makes even more rosy.

The chart's updated.  The only problem is only 3 of us reported in this week.  I'm sure that Snehvide will be around the corner any minute, but bettyboop, rishiesmom, renekane haven't come by in a while.  Come on back ladies!! The more the merrier!  We miss you.

I went to my favorite tex[mex restaurant this evening.  The lady whom I've known for abt 3 yrs as the "bus lady" clearing the tables, shared some very grave news.  her 23 yr old daughter was killed in an auto accident on her way to work.  I know this lady only from the restaurant but me and my family, always make a point of talking each time we're there and she's on shift.

I'm so sad.  Can't get it off my mind.  How can I show her how much I care and want to help w/o crossing a line?  At xmas I leave her a card with abt $25 in it.  I don't know where she lives, so I guess all I can give her is through people at the restaurant.  It's a fairly big one so you can't assume that the folks that greet you would know abt it.

How do recommend I show my heartfelt sorrow, given it has to be through the restaurant setting.    sorry for the bummer on a wkend. Cry  If you believe in it, please pray for her family and the soul of her daughter. - nite, Linda

Hi all!

141 down from 142.2

I never quite got my swing back after last week's disappointing gain.  TTOM came through so may have been part of both of these week's results.  If I'm diligent this coming week I should be able to get to 140 and even 139ish just from losing the bloating etc.

Sounds like several of us are going through a stressful couple of weeks.  Part of life I guess.  I've had to take some actions that have been difficult to do, but will hopefully alleviate some troubled areas for me.

Smader, I think your the winner right now on the motivated scale.  Keep it up and good luck on the triathlon.

snehvide, it seems like you've been a little troubled lately.  I hope it passes.  As others have mentioned, take care of yourself.  Do you still keep in touch with the Greek guy you met on the trip?

Oh no, Balehead.  I bet your hubby got an earful that night!  Well, keep in mind that sometimes, when our kids have accidents, it hurts us moreCry than it hurts them.  I hope this was the case for your daughter.

I admitt I was hiding this weekend.  I was soooo disapoointed on my weigh in: went from 140.4, to 142.2 Frown  This after excercising regularly and haveing some success on inches lost.  Even worse, I lost heart and binged this weekend.  I didn't excercise either, not track the calories.  It just really hit me hard this time.  The chart's been updated.

We haven't heard from Rishiesmom for a while.  I hope all is well.

It's Wednesday with peeves.  Ok so this a.m. I was ready for work early.  Not an easy feat for me.  I decided, "hey why don't I leave the kitchen a little cleaner than usual. (our 2 kids go off to school, dad leaves for work, last night's dinner dishes are rinsed and on the right side of sink but not in the washer).  So great I'm going to earn brownie points both at work for being earlier than usual and at home for tidying up.  NOT!!!! Seems like times I try to make things a little bit better, I trip over myself like Laurel and Hardy.

What happened Hasta?  Well I'm glad you asked cuz I'm trying not to be perturbed in front of my kids for such stupid irritation. Well, let me tell you.  Today was trash day so I wanted to get my fridge as fresh as possible. (my best friend keep an immaculate fridge stocked with fresh organic food.  I'm a wanna be.)  I reach to take out some turkey breast that I no longer want to cook to throw away.  A soy sauce bottle teeters, and in slo mo fall to the floor.  Will is break as I see it falling?  Crap it shattered! On my shoes, pants, all over all the shelves of darn fridge.  I'm late to work as usual, but today I smell like soy.

Now..... I decide to be thrifty.  A strong influence from my parent and prior to them.  So I prop a bottle of condiment against the wall to pour the remaining left into a new fresh bottle.  (no need to scrimp like this financially).  I check it later and think it's poured all that's there.  As I pull both bottles to put away ALL that was moving into the new container moved to the lip of the new jar and the counter.  ARGGGGGGG.  Why bother?  Which is totally true but a hard habit to break.    Lesson re-enforced:  Don't think that saving a few cents will make a diff.  I feel sad though when people around the workd lack so much.

Thanks for listening, if you had the patience and time to read thru this.

On the positive side, the commit that I made to my minutes of excercise per month on avg is really helping me.  I'm on the 3rd week and can FEEL if not record progress other than on measurements.  Maybe friday, I'll get the weight progress.

Go Friday!!!!

Yup.  After trying harder this week, I'm @ 140.4 today.  Up .6 fm last wk.  But, I can suck in my gut further than before.  I'm really o.k. with it.  I know I feel better, I've increased my excercise and made some good progress on changing my calorie intake.  I have trouble with the binging in the late afternoon, when I've cut down the cals in the a.m.  I'm hoping my body will adjust.

What a great thread.  I've learned a lot!  Don't have much to offer as I have been cool jean challenged for quite awhile.  I did buy some PZI jeans from Macy's last fall and I think they are my best fit.  I have gotten compliments from younger women on them when I'm wearing them at work.

Bettyboop, you're a maniac!  Are you listening to the song from Flashdance when your working out? Tongue out  You should be!

Mem18, welcome.  I'll add you to the chart on page 2 and log your stats as of this week.  Weigh ins are on Fridays.

I took a peek at my weight this a.m. and had one of those disappointments where you think you're going to show progress and have stayed the same.  May tomorrow's official weight will show what i'm looking for.

Man are we all living in a parallel universe or what????  I'm singing the same song, different verse too.  I'm 139.8.  -.2 from when I left for my vacation/family reunion.  All & all not bad, but crap.  In the 14 wks we've been doing this, I'm down only 3.2 lbs.  My lowest weight was on wk4 at 137.4.

My frustration is that with all this logging & tracking, my weight has essentially just hovered & swung back & forth, mostly between 142 & 140.  Seems like a hell of a lot of work and worry for that much progress.  On the positive side, no major gain either.  If I was on maintenance, I'd be doing swell.

Snehvide - I would love to be at your current weight. We're the same height.  128 was my normal, easy-to-maintain weight up to about 2 yrs ago.  At that time I wasn't happy with it either.  I wanted to be 115 or less.  Will we ever be happy???  Are you able to keep up the exercise with your little one being back home with you?

Smader - I made a couple of little goals for myself yesterday (and I stuck to them for my first day Innocent).  My goals for the remaining days of August are to get 330 total minutes of exercise by the EOM and to limit beer or wine to a max. of 10 total through EOM.  That may sound like a lot to some, but believe me a couple of days on the weekend (and with football starting up) could blow that out of the water for me.  The minutes of exercise and the 10 drinks can be spread however I'd like over the last 11 days of August.  What a mind game, huh?

Rishiesmom- what's bothering you?  anything we can do to support you?

Renekane - Social situations are tough.  One bit of advise that I should follow more than I do:  Eat b4 you go. Arrive at the social gathering early.  Make sure to greet everyone as early as possible upon arriving (so they'll know you were there).  The idea is that as people start drinking, they may not remember how long you stayed (or if you even came! ha, ha).  Then you can leave earlier than normal and limit your exposure to the temptations.
