MISCELLANEOUS RANTS DU JOUR ..... THINGS THAT BUG ME!!!!

Clothing manufacturers that seem to size their clothing, especially plus sized women's clothing, randomly and haphazardly. Is it too much to ask that a size 3x is standardized to some known waist size? It's risky enough ordering from a catalog and wondering just what color "blushing bride" and "shadow green" are (pink and lime, by the way), without having to wonder if the shorts I waited 4 weeks for would have any hope of fitting! (Ok, the waist fits, but these are the longest shorts I've ever seen ... and I'm 5'8" tall!)

FEEL FREE TO ADD YOURS...........

oooo... i'd like them to standardize all clothes... please? I hate trying on clothes... couldn't size n mean the same thing everywhere?

my rant is about people who complain about "vanity sizing" at Gap.  please do not stand in front of me and COMPLAIN that size 0 was huge on you then say the phrase "and I'm not even skinny" YES YOU ARE.  --end rant--

btw.  i'm trying to get back on the wagon (thanks for the reply about a month ago molly to my "can't find the wagon" journal entry) for the past month i've just been trying to not gain weight while i move into my new place.  so far all that moving and cleaning and stuff helped me lose 1 lb in a month (i'll take it) and gave me some wicked bruises and muscle pains that are proof! that it was exercise.  so april 1 is my first food logging and weigh in and hopefully i can stay on this new wagon since i never did find the old one.

my diet is called the don't-eat-anything-that-could-eat-you diet. i recently became vegetarian. lol. this works for me. its been a plan in the making all my life, i just needed one more slaughter story to throw me over the edge and on to the fresh beautiful grass.

I love this because I can still eat chicken... unless theres a new girl-eating chicken going around : D Just kidding but I'm glad your going for it.  I try to eat more veggies and save the animals as much as possible but I gotta have muah chicken.

this would rule out most plants.  I'm fairly certain if I died in a field, the trees, plants and mushrooms would utilize some of my nutrients but the vegetarian herd beasts would probably avoid my rotting corpse (but who knows).

i will agree with this plan and avoid eating worms and maggots.Laughing

note to self: Don't drink anything while reading this thread or it'll come right out your nose.

 you guys crack me up.

no rants today for me, i'm finally completely not sick and got back my 12 minute mile.  can't decide if i'm going to try to get it down to 10 minutes or try to run for 24 minutes (2 miles at 5mph).

hope you all are doing well, i was just thinking of trying to get my daily fiber up but 100g's?  wow!

congrats on the good results Molly.  I'm sorry about your thyroid, I think it's kind of weird that they only discovered it now.  Didn't they do these same tests on you before?

We should start a calorie count doctor blacklist.  a list of all doctors and their locations who are unhelpful/unsympathetic to those of us who are trying to lose weight through diet and exercise so that no one else will have to endure their snide and negative comments about how we can't lose weight without someone cutting us open and ripping our fat out.

personal rant: I finally hit my mini exercise milestone of a 12 minute mile and was extending my running to 15 minutes straight and I caught a really bad cold and haven't been able to exercise in a week :(

throw them out and don't feel guilty.  but before you do try to figure out how much of it you actually used.  maybe next time you can simply buy/make less so you won't have to worry about it next year and save money too!

LOL Molly!

Maybe I can burst into tears AND throw food at them.  The scale is in the kitchen, might be a good way to get rid of leftovers that I don't like. Laughing

The person (who shall go unidentified for their protection) doesn't mean to hurt which is why I'm more angry at the scale then at them.  I guess I'm just glad I DID lose 7 lbs or the number they saw would have been worse.

Hehehehe I just reread your post and I saw "Oreo cookies with the white inside licked out" LOL, hold on let me lick the filling out before I pelt you with this slightly damp cookie.  Wouldn't want to waste oreo cookie filling.

good morning and Happy New Year to all!

My rant for the day:

I know I've only lost 7 lbs and I'm one of those people who gain and lose weight all over evenly so it's hard to tell, but this morning I weighed in the kitchen and the number stayed on the scale even after I got off and a family member looked at the number and said

"Whoah getting fat huh?"

I want to kill that scale for keeping that number there for so long.  I'm going to go read the scale killer thread.  Yell

Thanks fransen, congrats to you on your success!!!!

I'm with you on the smell of nicotine.  While it's better for him to try to quit, I'm glad he doesn't smoke around you.  2nd hand is just as bad.

Hope your turkey turns out great.  I'm still turkeyed out from Thanksgiving.

chunkyprogrammer, yay yay yay yay yay yay yay! (That's 7 "yays" ... one for each pound lost!) And you lost them during the infamous HOLIDAY SEASON!!! Woo hooo!

Feels good, doesn't it? Laughing

=^..^= MOLLY

Thanks Molly! I actually picked this time to start because I figured if I could just avoid gaining 5 lbs that would be 5 lbs I didn't have to lose later on.

I still have the Christmas battle tomorrow.  Merry Christmas everyone Cool

..Then we need to take back some sweat pants to Walmart (too big ... yay!),..

Congrats Molly!

I love it when clothes I thought would fit end up being too big now I just have to get up the effort to return things....

I have no rants today but today is my 4th sunday on CC (and therefore my 4th week) and I'm down 7 lbs.  Yay!

Weight Loss Does giving up caffeine make you gain weight? Dec 19 2007

What have you been drinking instead of caffeine?  If your caffeine replacement drink has more calories that could account for weight gain.

I also notice I'm not as hungry if I drink coffee so maybe you are eating a little more?

* Sprays a can of Lurk-R-B-Gone around the thread, giggling *

I am retaining water, too. Grrrrrr. And, in case you're wondering, poking yourself with a pin (as if you were an oversized water balloon) does NOT let the excess water dribble out slowly ... I've tried THAT! (OK, I was actually pricking my finger to test my blood sugar, but it's the same basic idea, ya know?)  And it's pouring rain outside, which means the clouds AREN'T retaining water ... I am in this all alone.

uh oh! lurk-r-b-gone must have forced me to post again!  That and I'm also retaining water and I refuse to weigh myself until my wedding ring fits normally again.

I found out my favorite vegetarian soup has 700 mg of sodium per serving and I usually eat 1.5 servings.   Curses to my new found label reading knowledge.  No wonder I'm retaining water Tongue out

You could also take a picture in the same place and body position so you can compare them.  I do this then overlap them on my computer so I can see the changes better. (but then i'm a bit geeky)  also, smile even if you don't feel like it.  before shots shouldn't look like mug shotsLaughing

Hello!  This is my first post though I've been lurking for about a month.  I've really enjoyed this thread you all are hilarious :)

Today I have a rant.  It's about shoes.  First of all let me say that my rant makes the assumption that the majority of people who purchase shoes have 5 toes on each foot.  But I believe that the shoe designers have been designing for the more highly evolved people who have managed to get rid of their supposedly superfluous pinky toe.  This is the only explanation that I can find for shoes that fit everywhere except where my pinky toe is and leave my poor toe to get painful blisters if I walk or run anywhere.  Am I talking about silly pointy toe stilleto shoes?  No! I'm talking about Nikes.  NIKES!!!! (please don't sue me Nike).  I've tried wide shoes I rattle around in them *sigh* guess I just have weird feet.

[end rant]

PS. Thanks for this thread it always makes my day.
