I would be pissed off if someone approached me and told me what you all are suggesting..If I want to work out 2 or more hours a day that's my business: (And I personally find it freaky that the OP is watching this chick)) to see how long i'm exercisng---- I paying you all right? And if not maybe I'll take my business else where...u people are crazy and just have too much time on your hands trying to analyze things....lol

Maybe you would be pissed off because you personally are not suffering from a disorder.  It may be hard for you to put yourself in someone else's shoes, but if someone is CLEARLY underweight, losing hair, and being extremely unhealthy, they are basically shouting at the world to help them.  Maybe rather than saying "u people are crazy," you should give helpful suggestions.  And if you don't have any helpful suggestions, then keep your rude comments to yourself.

Fitness Running in place Dec 25 2008

I hear you on the weather!  I live in Iowa, and lately there has been windchills of -30!

You may want to try some resistance and/or weight training.  You could buy some resistance bands (they run pretty cheap) and check out this website:

http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/resistan ce-band-exercises.html

I have found it pretty useful!  Also, you could try push-ups, situps, dips, and other exercises that engage your muscles.  While running in place is good for cardiovascular exercise, adding in some exercises to help build muscle will be very beneficial for your body.

Good luck!

I can relate to the situation you are facing.  I work at a gym as well, and there is a woman who comes in and does cardio for a couple hours.  It's pretty apparant that this woman is hurting herself--she probably weighs eighty pounds!  She has lost almost all of her hair, and her bones are popping out everywhere.  She wears a heavy coat in the summertime, because she doesn't have enough fat on her body to keep her warm.  To add to the fact: she is spotted by gym employees at VARIOUS fitness centers around town.  Basically, she goes to one for a couple hours, leaves and goes to a different one, and continues the crazy cycle.  It is SO sad.  I used to suffer from disordered eating, and I feel terrible for her.

One day, as I was leaving the gym (I was working out, not actually working), I noticed her on an elliptical.  My heart just could not ignore her.  I wrote a note that said something along the lines of "I know you are struggling. I have struggled, too.  Please do not let this spiral out of control any further. You are BEAUTIFUL."  I handed her the note and walked away.

Maybe it wasn't in my place to write that note, but honestly, she looks as though she'll fall over at any moment.  I could NOT sit back and not do a single thing.  It was my only option.  I still see her working out all the time, but I'm hoping that maybe I gave her a glimmer of hope.

I'm not saying that you should do the same, but I just thought I would share my experience with you.

Young Calorie Counters any GIRLS who lift weight? Nov 22 2008

lifting weights is what i do for most of my workouts, and i can definitely see where you are coming from.  but like berrykiss said, you shouldn't be intimidated.  i honestly think the guys like it when there are some girls pressing iron in the weight lifting area.

have you ever considered lifting before doing cardio?  i heard that it's more effective, because after cardio, you have already burnt out a lot of your energy.  if you lift before, you will be able to exert more energy and lift more weight.  just a suggestion.

happy lifting!

Thank you all so much for your replies (this is why I absolutely love CC!).  I think I'm going to get a second opinion.  The pains are all in my gut area.. the appendix was ruled out because I wasn't having pain on one specific side.  The doctors did not check my gallbladder, which is something I will bring up to them.

Today, I've tried to eat bland food, and I'm not going to eat anything after 6:00pm.  I'm hoping this will help.

Once again, thank you all so much.

I love adding a little shredded cheese to my plain oatmeal!  It's savory and delicious.  You can make a heaping bowl that's quite low in calories, and as far as the cheese goes, a little goes a long way!

Foods Chocolate PB2 - Yum! Oct 26 2008

My local grocer carries PB2 (thank goodness!), and the last time I went to purchase a jar, I ran into PB2 chocolate.  I decided to give it a try.  While it was pretty tasty, it doesn't even compare to regular PB2,  IMHO.  I think with the PB2 chocolate, a lot of the peanut butter taste is covered by the chocolate.  I would take peanut butter over chocolate any day, which is probably why I prefer original.  Anyways.. I recommend trying both to see what you prefer!  I love adding PB2 to oatmeal.. and one of my absolute favorite recipes is light vanilla soy milk, frozen banana chunks, and a serving of PB2 in my blender... it's SUCH a decadent smoothie, and very healthy!  Sometime I just eat a spoonful out of the jar, too :)

I just bought a box because of their impressive stats, and while I'll agree that they're a little bland, they are very easy to jazz up!  This morning, i added some banana chunks and a dash of cinnamon, whisked it well with a fork to help break up the bananas, and made them on a griddle.  The banana pancakes were amazing!  I didn't need to add any butter or syrup because the bananas added enough sweetness.  Next time, I want to try adding blueberries :)

great advice bells.... the same can be said about those wanting to get in shape.  a couple months ago, i decided to train for a half marathon.  to make the story short, i overtrained (Ran about 6-8 miles everyday) and ended up with a stress fracture in my tibia.  it's still VERY painful, and now i'm unable to do ANY running at all.  i should have TAKEN IT SLOW!!

my advice would be to incorporate exercise whenever possible.   walk as much as possible when running errands.  ride your bike to the bank.  with gas prices today, these alternatives have even more incentives.
