Hey girls (and guys)!!

Wow I havent been on here in such a long time, but i was looking through my computer bookmarks and thought I'd stop in for a little update.

All of a sudden I gained a bunch of weight in a very short amount of time, as a result of a number of things: I started taking birth control, I went on medication for my autoimmune disease, I started smoking (i know its not a healthy habit, but if anything will break you away from an eating disorder, marijuana will do it) and I think I just got sick of being so restrictive and depressed.

During the time of my ED I would not have considered myself as being depressed.  However, I read some poetry that I wrote during that time, and it was really sad!!! I am sooo much happier now, I really enjoy life, I love working out, I love eating, I have better relationships with my friends and I have had wayyyyyyy more attention from guys.

I still spit out food occasionally, which is a habit i think i will always struggle with, and i almost never order something other than salad without dressing from a restaurant, but overall I feel cured.  While I'm really bummed that I can't fit into my old Hudson jeans anymore, it is such a relief not to be consumed by an eating disorder.

all I can say is, keep up the hard work!! even if you think you can never break the cycle, YOU CAN DO IT!!! I did it and so have thousands of other people.  You just need strong support from family and friends and the motivation to break these habits.  You were all determined enough to lose the weight, so you can all be determined enough to gain some back.

GOOD LUCK AND KEEP UP THE HARD WORK!!! IT IS SO WORTH IT!!!! :]

Yes, I certainly gained weight from the pills, and they make you want to cry and they make you hungry like crazy.

I'm not sure what your doctor is going to make you do, but my doctor ran tests and found I don't produce enough estrogen, which is what gives you a "lining" (sorry i'm trying not  to put it in graphic terms lol).  So once I build up my lining with about a month of estrogen, I'll take progesterone pills (which causes you to shed the lining).

high-intensity athleticism and eating disorders are the two most common causes of secondary amenorrhea (losing your period after you had gotten it previously).  For me, though, it probably has something to do with an autoimmune disease that I have.

I'd really suggest that you see your doctor or schedule a visit with a gyno because going for long periods of time with low estrogen production can increase your risk for ovarian disease, etc. good luck!!

HELLO EVERYONE!!!! how are you all???? i hope everyone's recovery has been great!!!

I havent been on here in a while... life has been amazing and i love every second of it!!  For a while, it seemed like my ED was nonexistent and not controlling my life at all!  I maintained at a decent weight (though my mom still wanted me to be more) and Iate good portions and even stopped purging!

But I'm stuck. I went to the doctor because I havent gotten a period in 1 1/2 years (nrelated to my weight loss, btw).  So, he put me on SUPER HIGH dose estrogen pills.  Within one and a half weeks i gained 6 lbs!!!I'm still thin for my height, but I feel disgusting and gross and BLOATED.on top of that, my appetite has gone through the roof all as side effects!

So unfortunately, after over a month of "ED-free" living (if thats possible lol), yesterday I ate probably a third of what I should be eating.  then I had a piece of cake...which didn't stay in my stomach very long.  :/

I know i need to stop.  but i feel gross.  and the WORST part is, I was so effing proud of myself for not eating for most of the day.

i guess this goes to show you will never be truly cured of ED.  gah!!

I hardly think a luna bar will fill you up....

I aim at about 60-80 cals of fruit.. you can do blackberries, blueberries, an apple, grapes, etc

add about 60-80 cals of protein: 1 egg fried in nonstick cooking spray, a small yogurt, cottage cheese, or something similar

then, I finish it off with a small carb: 1/2 an english muffin, small instant cream of wheat. small instant oatmeal, piece of toast, frozen waffle, or something similar

omg im exactly the same way.. even if its just going on a walk.. i feel sooo dirty if i dont work out!  i hate it! so on days i know i cant work out, i'll park REALLY far away from wherever i  need to be and work out in any way possible (butt/ab crunches during church, etc lol)

idk its wierd my stomach feels nasty, my thighs feel flabbier (even though theyre not) and my butt gets really restless when i dont work out.  so wierd!!!

Recipes polenta? Dec 05 2007

polenta is also good if you make it plain, just boil water and polenta (i'm not sure of the proportions, but you could look it up) and then serve it with chicken and tomato sauce or gravy

YUM!

i love when my dad makes it, because we have this traditional copper pot from italy that my grandma made polenta in, and after you scoop all the polenta out, you leave the pot on the stove on low heat.  the layer of polenta that sticks to the pot will crisp up like chips... soooo good!!!

ya I live in SD, and golden spoon is amazing!!!

it really depends what your looking for/ what part of SD youre going to be in.. but if you're in downtown and want a nice meal (think 20 bucks or more per person) then go to Indigo Grill its soooooo good (I like the good things growing plate.. it was squash, corn stuff, tofu, and lots more).

I haven't seen a whole bunch of raw food places, but if you hunt around you can find some... sushi is also very popular, but I'm not a fan so I don't know which places are good.

hello ladies!

good to see you're keeping up with progress!

Well, so far I have been  eating alot, ive gained 2 lbs!! :P, and I went on a run yesterday and my legs are soreeee but it feels great! Also, I got a job at a bakery, which is daunting, but ill work through it!

Also, I havent talked to my "friend" all week.  i was waiting for her to apologize , but it appears that apology is never going to come.  (she said to me "I liked you better before you were anorexic", and then called my sister who lives on the opposite side of the country and told her im depressed and not eating... neither of which is true AT ALL)

but as for recovery goes, I'm doing great!  I'm glad everyone else is doing well also!

Health & Support How to deal when your friends are negative towards your healthy lifestyle Nov 28 2007

i think its great that you decided to get a healthier lifestyle and your friends should support you...

having said that, you should watch out.  I started out wanting a completely healthy diet, and it escalated until i lost 30 lbs without thinking about it.  Take it from me, its even harder to deal with unsupportive friends when you have an ED.  You can eat healthily (and i dont want to sound like im preaching) but you should make sure not to loose too much weight in the process.

HEY EVERYONE!

it's woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo here... my old username got deleted so i had to get a new one :)

k i just have to vent really quickly bc i dont feel like actually talking to anyone about this

but i have a "friend" (yeah not a friend anymore) and shes been being the BIGGEST douchebag EVER lately and she thinks she knows EVERYTHING about the world... so today she sent me an IM message and basically just harped on me out of the blue (she has a tendency to do that)... but then so goes (i quote) "I liked you better before you were anorexic"

i replied "i hate you" and signed off.

i cant believe someone i considered my best friend would go there.  BUT, this is the good news: before when she would randomly start hating on me, I felt really bad about myself and tried so hard to get her to forgive me.  But I'm stronger than that now.  I have NO reason to apologize.  she doesn't deserve me as a friend because I care about people more than she will ever know and I deserve a friend who will respect me and care for me just as much.

and i gained a lb!!! yay!!!
