Not only is a therapist/counselor completely out of my budget range, I dont really think a counselors advice is really going to control my problem. I saw a counselor during college, because it was included in tuition and all of her advice was everything I had already heard. I knew ways to stop myself from binging, I know I have issues with my mom and weight loss. I dont need a therapist to tell me that. I honestly gained nothing from that year long weekly session. I've really found the best way to control my ED is too be confident in my calories. I need to feel confident I'm not overeating, so I dont feel guilty. I was just hoping for advice about this week and transitioning back to calorie counting after this previous week of binging. I was also hoping for advice about staying positive about my body, fitness and food. I was thinking of training for a race or taking time to get a massage. I don't know if anyone has other advice. |

I'm looking more at California, Arizona, Texas, Hawaii, Florida, North/South Carolina, and Virginia. Are there any cities in those states with a good dating scene?? dplatzner- Just "hooking up" is not what I'm interested in. Thanks for warning me about Miami. jule817- Boston might be a little cold and expensive for a single renter. zeema976- I've been to LA, because my friend goes to USC and although I like it, I might prefer somewhere that isn't soo polluted. It also seems like people in LA drive everywhere! I'd like a place where excercising outdoors is pretty common. |

ok. this reply is very overdue! I was just bored looking through forums that mentioned Madison! There aren't very many! Are you refering to Jamerica? They have the best mango rundown tofu ever!! First,I know you've probbly already eaten at the buffet, but I would like to say that the jerk seasoning isnt very caloric. It has alot of sodium, but its a safer bet that the curry chicken. Second, beans and rice can just be added normally. They are pretty universal calorie wise. Third, what do you do to workout in Madison when it gets soo cold out! I mean I swear there was frost on the lawn already this morning! |

| Weight Loss | Does Anyone Here Ever Get Hungry????? | Sep 28 2008 16:47 (UTC) |

I think its all a mental battle. If I didnt listen to my hunger cues telling me that I was full, I could easily eat more. I dont know if this is weird, but Im very A.D.D and I always feel like I need to be chewing or tapping my foot to keep myself focused on a task. That used to be a problem when I would snack on chips and oreos when studying, but now I use it to my advantage by chewing gum and taking little walks for study breaks. Also, you have to look at volume of food. If you have a big salad with spinach, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green pepper, red onion with s,p, and vineger for about 50 calories before dinner, your more likely to eat a smaller dinner than if you have your meal by itself then went looking for higher cal snacks afterwards. I also have a rule where I dont eat 3 hours before bed. I know its silly and a calorie is a calorie no matter what time you eat it at, but I feel like by eating dinner at 6 and stopping and not snacking during homework or t.v. time, its easy to just eat 1300cal/day. |

I love vanilla fat free yogurt with fiber one and either canned pumpkin and cinnamon(which is very low cal) or you can take an indvidual dark chocolate square and microwave with the yogurt and fiber one. Its a very healthy chocolate/chewy pudding! mmm.. |

eating at night for me is a 100% mental battle. if you have you have eaten your alloted calories, just tell yourself you are done for the day. period. no excuses. if it really is a huge problem, i would start planning for it with your cal intake. |

I know my family jokes that I have it. I consume so much water, and im always thirsty. I would just recommend not waiting too long between meals and regulating the sugar in your diet. Obviously, I'm not a professional, so you could probably talk with your doctor. Passing out in class is pretty scary stuff! |

Haley_2008: Thanks for the tip. Gi-jane pointed out I have a lot of sugar in my diet, which probably throws off my blood glucose levels. I'm glad this was brought this up before the weekend when I do my grocery shopping. I think I'm going to start buy more fortified cereals, nuts, and dark greens like spinach. |

Undertherainbow: I weight 160, 5' 6'' and my burn meter is around 2100. Thats between 500-1000 calorie deficit. Thanks about the analysis tip. I was at 20% iron (yikes) , then I added fiber one cereal and 2 eggs, but I'm still only at 60%!! aah! |

thanks gi- jane: i feel like iron may be the problem. I eat eggs 2-3 times a week, but I should probably eat more meat. As far as insufficient food goes: I never feel starved and I eat whenever I have a break during my classes. Sometimes even when I'm in class, even though i dont like to. |

| Young Calorie Counters | Anyone else trying to lose weight during college? | Sep 01 2008 18:46 (UTC) |

I'm in my junior year in college and I struggled with the same problem. I now use the college lifestyle to my advantage. There are so many opportunities for physical activity in colllege (i.e. walking to and from class, all the sports, and going out to parties is very physical) As far the food goes, I would embrace the variety at the salad bar and all the fruit. I live off campus now, but before I had fruit and yogurt with some oats for breakfast and the daily soup with salad bar for lunch. As far as the booze goes, I never want to turn down a night out with my friends. I limit myself to one beer or non fruity mixed drink and dont snack past my calories for the day) Even if im playing beer pong, I usually play with a guy so I dont end up drinking that much. lol. Hope that helps! |

eggs are the perfect dinner! mmm... you can microwave them with milk (more protein) with or without the yolks. you can add cheese, beans, veggies or turn it into a sandwich with a 100 calorie english muffin! I love how versatile eggs are! mmm... eggs whites are even good microwaved with canned pumpkin and splenda or with oats and cut up apple for a healthy dessert! |

| Weight Loss | What are YOUR thoughts on this? | Aug 30 2008 00:08 (UTC) |

This is what I do and I feel like its the right balance. I stick to the same types of foods, but modify it each week. I have oatmeal with an extra small banana and pb each morning. Sometimes I buy pb that is crunchy, creamy, flavored with honey or choc. Peanut butter and Co makes a very natural pb that has honey, raisins, etc for add ins. For a snack I love yogurt or cc with fruit. I mix it up with cherries, peaches, or mixed berries. I also change up my lunch meat, bread and my boca burgers as well. I like this because I'm getting variety but its not something so new that I scarf it down or its not something like a pb and j for lunch one day which isnt very big in volume and a broth soup with a large salad the next day. I like to stick to the same volume of food and the same style of food each day so that I dont feel deprived or too full. |

wow. so i really feel like running helps...especially with good ipod music (i.e. Mika, Moulin Rouge Soundtrack, and Dispatch) As for the other things. I feel like the zit and breathing are due to the stress. i think i might try a bath. thanx for the idea about acne. i just took 2 ibuprofen and then im guessing i should wait a bit before I ice it.
as for betzc comment. i do have acid reflux and serious amounts of burping. lol. ive actually taken 2 gaviscon and 1 tums today already. is that a bad thing? ive also spent a lot of the day yawning to try and get more air. the thing is that ive only noticed this for the past 5-7 days. doesnt asthma take a bit to develop? |
