Hi everybody,

I've decided that I must like chaos.  It's the only explanation for why I agree to stuff.  Our Korean foreign exchange student arrived this weekend and is trying to get used to living in the country.  For the first few days she barely said anything at all and I was really worried.  She's shy but starting to open up.  I always thought oriental people ate healthy so I wasn't worried about the fact that we're eating lots of fruits of veggies and not so much of the bad stuff.  I guess teenagers are the same everywhere...she won't eat vegetables and her favorite food is pizza.  Now there are frozen pizzas in my freezer that I have to stay away from.  Dog gone temptation.

Take care all,

Kimberly

...maybe all-you-can-eat buffets have outlived their usefulness anyway?

In some ways I agree.  I try to avoid buffets because I know I will eat more than I should.  On the other hand, the restaurant has options.  We have one place where it is one price for one plate of food and higher if you want all you can eat.  I love it.  I don't want to pay the extra so I limit myself, I feel better and the manager told me when they started this policy it dramatically cut done on waste.

Weight Loss Dieting while pregnant Jan 12 2008

I know that you'd like to lose weight but that's a really bad idea when you're pregnant.  I had gestational diabetes and was on a very strict diet during my pregnancy and I began to lose weight.  My doctor upped my diet because losing fat releases ketones in your body and they damage the developing brain.  Losing more than 1 pound a month is considered very dangerous for the baby.

I disagree with the idea of sitting back and relaxing during later pregnancy.  Being in the best possible shape will help the birth go better.  Walking is great but if it becomes to much you could switch to swimming.  The closer I got to delivery the more I looked forward to going to the pool...it was the only time my whole body felt like it was free from all aches and pains.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy.

Sorry, seems like I've been wallowing in the mud lately instead of posting :)  I've been so busy that I hardly have time to get on here and record anything, let alone actually post.  Hopefully things will calm down a bit now for a few weeks.  Of course tomorrow I'm getting a foreign exchange student from Korea so my time may be focused there.  Forget waiting for my prince to come, I'd just be grateful to meet the sandman.  Anyway, I've been doing my exercising as planned and I drink more water than that everyday so I definitely meet that goal.

Eating the 2750 a day should result in a loss of about 2 pounds per week.  CC already has your deficit worked in.

Good luck

OMG!  I thought I was the only one who did this.  I always felt silly doing it but it saved my legs.  Then I found a store that carried split slips (basically a pair of pretty looking shorts in slip material) but then they closed.  Arghh.  The humanity.  Anyway, this is my number 1 reason to lose.

I'm glad someone missed the goodies and was good to their body.  Great job  alyssandra.  I'm just happy I've lost most of the weight that I gained at Christmas.  Hope everyone's having a slimming new year.

Hi everybody,

We're back from Christmas and the week was tough.  Not only were there goodies but everytime my parents started yelling my sister and I would end up snacking in the kitchen.  I had hopes that once i had my own kids it might change the pattern.  Oh well, back to eating right and only when I should.

Recipes low-carb recipe for dinner- PLEASE HELP =] Dec 23 2007

If your family likes lasagna for Christmas (us too) you could make it low carb and healthier.  Instead of noodles get salad squash and slice them the long way about a 1/4 inch wide.  You don't even have to cook them before you layer them.  Make your sauce with very low fat ground beef or ground turkey and replace half of the meat with mushrooms.  Use low-fat mozzarella and your set.  Can you tell I've done this before?  Can't help with the garlic bread but this satisfied my families craving for lasagna when they were on south beach.

Merry Christmas.

perhaps the word "binge" has been cheapened an effect that seems almost universal and not exclusive to cc, 3000 calories of broccoli is a grotesque amount and a real binge

Wow.  3000 calories worth of broccoli?  That's over 100 cups.  A five gallon bucket holds 80 cups.  I have occasionally binged on junk food, but I can't imagine eating this much fiber.  That has to give you one heck of a stomach ache.

Foods Barbecue Ribs? Dec 23 2007

If you're planning to have beef ribs I would go with that.  Most restaurants serve pork ribs, though.  Either baby back or st. louis style.  If you type in pork ribs you'll come up with a variety of options, surely one should sound similar to what you can get at the restaurant.

Good luck.

Wow, they have the guilt thing down.  Can you be bought that cheaply?  Unless this is a truly heart felt gift that makes you feel like they've been paying attention to what is important to you, don't let it get to you.  Be polite but don't make yourself miserable because someone got you a present.

Are you in the wrong?  No

Are you gonna catch a lot of flack?  Count on it

Even though you're not going to spend the day with them it would probably be a good idea to stop at your stepmom's and wish everyone a merry Christmas.  Then feel guilt free and go enjoy your holiday as you wish.

My hubby has to go into work in the early evening on Christmas.  I plan to take my 6mo son and head over to the nursing home and visit with some of the old people that didn't get any Christmas visitors.  We'll have a good time, I won't feel lonely with noone to talk to, and the old people love it.  My husband works a lot of holidays so this is kinda routine for me.  You might give it a try.

IMO, if you're sick you probably shouldn't do the cardio.  Maybe make it an extra day where you make sure you get enough water-good for you and for helping fight the cold.  The cold we had just kept hitting...I'm still coughing a bit but I got out the gazelle yesterday and did my twenty minutes.

Hope everyone feels better for the holidays.

I mostly sew middle age garments for the SCA.  I also occasionally create clothes for myself.  Anymore fabric is almost as expensive as clothes so I only do it for unique stuff anymore.  Oh, and I made my son some quilted books for Christmas.  Made my sister a bridesmaid dress a year or so ago.  Lots of hemming and mending.

Eeeek.  I ate a plate of Christmas cookies for dinner.  I am way too stressed out for the time of year when people give me cookies.  I don't let them come in the house but someone dropped them off for me at work and when I realized I hadn't had supper I dug in.

As for scales, mine is different then the one at the doctors by 2 pounds but it's consistent so I stick with it.

I know we're weighing in on Thursdays but have we set up any other things we're going to do regularly?  I know we talked about it but I'm unclear if it was ever decided.  I've made a commitment to my family to go swimming every Friday night.  I don't get any laps in but the baby loves to kick in the warm water pool at the Y so we have fun.

I know it's silly, but I think I've mentally just put everything off until after the holidays.  Not planning any crazy new years resolutions but it does seem like a good time to get back in the gym habit.  Right now I'm trying to get by without my babysitter (her daughter has RSV so I can't take my son over) and it's so hard to get anything done.  Plus all of the extra work of getting ready for the Christmas eve services and finishing the scrapbooks I'm giving to all of the grandparents as their gifts.

Tomorrow is a new day.  Sorry for the whining.

Christmas day we're just going to bum around the house and enjoy the day together before hubby goes to work in the evening.  Next Thursday we'll go to my parents for a couple of days to celebrate.  Since my 26yo sister has been the youngest in the family for awhile we're looking forward to Matthew getting all kinds of fun things and cute outfits for Christmas.  He will, of course, be far more interested in the wrapping paper and anything he can stick in his mouth but it will be a good time for all.

*laughs wickedly* so I'll get to weigh in before I eat Christmas dinner  :P

Have a great day.

All of the acknowledged Obama supporters in Iowa were invited to parties last week where there was a conference call with Barack himself.  I think it was a great idea to get everyone ready for caucuses but his speech wasn't exactly inspiring.  I'm left wondering who I will caucus for.

My favorite suggestions are PIG and six rolly pollies +1.  I think seven will make a good number.  If we have to vote we know it won't be a tie lol.

I definitely like the idea of having designated days where we all do the same thing.  It will definitely make me feel more accountable.  My gym partner moved away and now it's hard to convince myself to go.  This way I can just think of all of you guys also doing the same thing and I'll be motivated.

Hmmm....motivated PIG?

I'm also 30 but have one son 6 months old.  I've gone from a high of 350+ a year ago to just under 300 right now.  Let me in and I'll make you all look skinny :)

Anyway, 5'7", pastor (60+ hours/week) and I want to be able to play with my son once he's up and running.
