Weight Loss 60 calorie snack? Jan 24 2008

Hershey makes "sticks" that each have only 60 calories.  They have all different flavors.  Dark chocolate, caramel chocolate, and mint chocolate are my favorites.  I love these to satisfy my sweet tooth! If i were to tell myself I will eat 1 square of chocolate, I would eat the whole bar, so portion controlled foods are my best friend!

I also love Quakes Mini Delights... they have 90 calories a bag, but they also have many flavors and taste much better than regular rice cakes.

Weight Loss what do i do about late night hunger???? Jan 24 2008

...even if i don't get woken up my boyfriend said i'm not normal that i wake up starving.....
I don't think that it's weird to wake up starving!! When I wake up in the morning I am so hungry that I feel sick to my stomach.  If my hunger wakes me up in the middle of the night I just swig a bunch of water and fall back asleep.  It's easy for me though, because I'm a very hard sleeper and I will fall back asleep in no time.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound harse.  I am just very against the whole woman-do-all-the-household things mentality.  ButI have grown up in a world where both men and women have outside jobs, so maybe that is why.

I agree that if you don't have to go to work and you stay home all day then it is your responsibility to do most of the cooking and cleaning.

I'm just bothered that anyone should feel like they have to eat poorly just because their significant other doesn't support their desire to be healthy and fit.  After you are strong and don't overeat with him several times, he will stop expecting you too.  When I first started CC+ my fiance would want to go get fast food and he would tell me, "oh it's okay if you have a hamburger, you have been doing really well, so it won't matter" and I just kept saying "no thank you, I will eat something at home"... and now it's three weeks later and he doesn't even tryto encourage me to eat that crappy food with him anymore.  It just takes a few times of withstanding the temptation and just saying no, and maybe he will stop pressuring you to eat "bad" with him.  Just a thought...

It's good to share the responsibility ;) I just don't like hearing women talk like they have to do all that kind of stuff, especially if their husbands don't like what they want to cook....It just seems old-fashioned to me, but that's just my opinion!!!   Smile

Why can't your husbands cook for themselves?  I work and go to school, therefore spending more time out of the house then he does each day, and if he ever expectedfor me to cook him dinner every night then he would have another thing coming! He is totally supportive of me eating healthy and has even been working out with me, but if he wants to order Chinese for dinner, then he does and I make something at home.  The first few weeks of watching him eat the occasional McDonald's or Taco Bell while I had my "healthy" food really built up my willpower and made me feel happy that I was eating well instead of eating junk.

Sorry to ramble, but my point was that they are not helpless! We of course cook dinner TOGETHER some nights, but other nights when he wants junk, I just eat something else.  If they don't like what your cooking, they have two hands and can make their own food! It's not like they will starve.  I understand it's different with children, but I mean it's not fair to have to jump through hoops every night to make your man happy.  He should be happy that you want to be healthy!

I am also struggling with staying away from the booze! I love to have a beer (or two) or wine with dinner, and I know that it is sabotaging my weight-loss efforts! I have made a vow to only have a drink on Saturday nights (my party night!) and I'm going to hope that it makes a difference! With a beer or glass or wine being 100+ empty calories, surely we will see a difference if we cut it out of our diets!

Ohh and I forgot to mention, I am a full-time student studying to be a middle school science teacher. I also work full-time.  So when we get time together, sometimes it's easy to see it as an excuse to indulge with him!

I feel much the same way as you all do! I am not married yet, but I have been engaged for 9 months and we have been living together for almost 3 years, so it's pretty much the same thing! ;)

My fiance eats whatever he wants! He makes it so hard sometimes because he will want me to take him to McD's or wherever it might be, and I have to just watch him eat his 2 sandwiches and fries, while I am eating low-calorie soup for dinner.  We also have the alcohol problem.  We both love to drink socially and we always have a lot of friends over on the weekends (mostly guys) and I always want to drink just as much as they do! I know that there are more calories in the beverages I am drinking than there are in the food I eat but I like to drink sometimes! It sucks! : (

I do still allow myself to have drinks with my man and my friends on Saturday nights when everyone comes over to my house, but on other nights I am trying to abstain from drinking entirely.

My fiance is very supportive and I know he loves me no matter what I look like, but I don't think he realizes that his decisions about food/beverages/exercise, make it harder for me to make good choices for myself.  He told me that he's helping me build my willpower! lol.  I guess he's right.
