Hi Beth - for some reason my posts aren't going through - help - I want to stay in the challenge.

10/31 was 115

11/07 was 116

As you can see I unfortunately gained this week so I am back to a total loss of 5.5.

Thanks - if you could give me a tip as to why my posts don't go through I'D APPRECIATE  it.

Leanne -thats all right - Laughing

How does everyone feel about the analysis calculator on this site? I am such a nerd that I am almost compulsive about trying to get a good grade (LOL) but sometimes its hard to figure out what is lowering the score.  Does anyone know what takes priorty? Is it the percentage of fats - proteins -carbs .....or is it the sodium etc. that mainly determines the grade?  Sometimes I plug away at trying to figure out what to include in my diet to get a good score yet it doesn't alwaysmake sense.  Innocent (my head is spinning)!!!

Hi MJ here.

Not sure if we chat using the reply button or the original post...but trying this. I know we weigh in on Friday - but peeked today anyway....and wish I didn't. I feel that no matter how much you work at it during the week - it seems like you can lose all your progress in one Saturday night. I don't want to give up my splurges on the weekend but need to plan differently I guess.  I went to CHilis and had Nachos.  It was the appetizer -but when I looked up the calories at home I disovered that one little plate was 1450 calories - more than my daily allowed calories.  Ughh - add a couple of glasses of wine and breakfast and lunch and I was way over 3000 calories for the day.  That one night cancelled out all my hard work and days of staying to my calories intake.  Boy is that frustrating!

Any tips for how to eat regularly and still have calories for going out with friends etc.  How do you still have a social life without over-indulging?

 Thanks

Ughhh....next week I'll do better --- actually gained .5 but didn't start the challenge untiol Thursday.  I am looking for everyone to keep me on track.

09/19

This was a tough week.  I have fallen so far off my good eating habits that I had gained 8 pounds this summer.  I managed to get through the whole week without having a glass of wine which helped a lot - but had to resist a lot of danish and doughnuts due to lots of meetings at work.  I was so glad that we are checking in every Friday - so I felt somewhat accountable. Nine more to go!!! Good luck to everyone  -- yay for us - we are all going to be knockouts by Christmas.

 09/26

Whew - it was tough to stick with this.  Its a good thing we have this challenge.  The idea of signing in today was responsible for me not grabbing a yummy dessert quite a bit. I am going to be extra careful tonight and try to not go too far over my calorie limit - headed to the basement to exercise before work.  Good luck everyone.

10/03

Staying the course - but it seems like I should have lost more.  My sister is coming up for the weekend -  so I hope I don't undo all the progress I've made so far.  I am glad I found this challenge - it makes me thing twice (or three or four times!!!) before straying far from my diet plan.  Hope everyone does well this week.   Have a fun weekend.

10/10 - Bummed because of weight gain

10/17 - Everyone seems to be doing so well and some of you have really lost at great rates - hooray - As for me I am back to my 117 of October 3rd. Disappointed that I can't seem to keep on track. Going to the gym today though so I am hoping that helps.  I just joined a new gym that opened up yesterday. I can get motivated!  Have a good weekend everyone.

10/24 - Hooray - worked really hard this week ...5 more to go.  Big high school class reunion coming up this weekend - so I had a lot of incentive to stay on track. I am determined not to undo all my progress this weekend. Good luck to everyone on today's weigh in.

I'm 53.  Been on CC since January.  Was all the way down to 115 but put 6 pounds back on over the summer....ughhh....hoping to get down to 110.  I am 5'2".  My biggest problem - I like having a few glasses of wine on the weekends.  I can do very well calories wise all week and then blow it all on the weekedn.  Such a bummer. Christmas is a good goal.   Count me in!

Hi and welcome to all our newcomers.

I am excited to join the losing club (LOL).  After 3 weeks of no weight loss - I finally managed to actually lose 1 pound.

Betty - I weigh in on Monday mornings.  I find it forces me to be very careful on Sunday - to make up for over-indulging on Friday night and Saturday.  My hubby is going away next week and he is probably wondering why I'm so happy ( poor guy) he has no idea that I'm thinking - "good - now I can stay on my diet over the weekend".  Hmmm - He doesn't try to sabatoge me - but he loves to go out to eat and I hate the fact that it is so hard to be careful of your calories when you are dining out.  The portions are so large - and I am always tempted to eat stuff I don't even keep in the house.

Well - I sounds like everyone is off to a positive start this week.  Yay us!!!! Lets be real losers....(LOL)

Hi All - Thanks for the support everyone.  I have been really blowing it over the past two days with no exercise - but today is a new day.  I get into the thinking sometimes that - well I blew it already - so whats one more thing .....but..I am trying  hard not to keep that all or nothing attitude.  I am thinking about rejoining the gym to get into some classes though.  I feel like last time I really wasted my money - but 2008 will be a whole new beginning.  How many of you all  have gym memberships - and go regularly.  I have a treadmill and elliptical and weights in my basement but sometimes it seems too much to even go down there....but maybe a gym with an instructor will be more motivating.  What do you all do?  Have a great day.

HI Everyone - Hope everyone had a happy holiday! I had a fairly quiet one - children came and went and my daughter is still around for a couple more days so we have been getting to spend some alone time.  I didn't take any weight off - but I also think I only gained maybe a pound or two - I am anxious to get through the rest of the week without going off the deep end...there are so many goodies around.  My husband just went to play tennis and I am meeting him for a drink afterwards.  I tried to work out at home - but am so unmotivated.  I can't seem to stay motivated when I don't see any movement on the scale -- but I am determined to stick with this  site and everyone on this forum.  When I feel weak I read through your notes and think that at least we aren't all alone... Have a great evening.

You all are so right....Just because you blow one meal doesn't mean you should throw in the towel and blow the rest of the day - week or month  (something I am guilty of) . I think sunkissedbliss has a good point.  Have a plan for when you get off track (because we all are a cookie away from getting off track.  Make this plan something you immediately implement - otherwise you will struggle with when to get back on track.... Good luck.

MJ.

Good morning everyone -- yippee - it's Saturday.  Busy day today for me.  My husband's kids are all here and my daughter is coming up tonight from Pittsburg.

I have a party tonight and I am  so nervous about blowing all mt hard work.  I have actually not managed to gain any weight so far in spite of all the work parties etc. I am trying to focus on the fact that missing a tempting morsel will not be worth the agravation of dieting one second longer than necessary.  If I can just get to December 26---- thats only 3 days right!!!!  I am  tempted not to eat all day - but I know thats not the way to go.  I think I will just focus tonight on the veggies and shrimp - And ask for wine in seltzer to cut it down a bit.  I actually haven't had a glass of wine in about 10 days - and drank tea at the last party I went to Smile  I also exercised everyday this week!! think that I am getting more stamina and trying to focus on other rewards besides food.  Wish me luck and have a great day!!!

Hi Everyone -

Congratulations Phox 50 on making it through the holiday with such a small weight gain.

I am really trying to stay on track this holiday.  My work had a huge district wide party with tons of food.  I am so proooud of myself - since it is the first "party" of the season I tried to really watch it.  All I ate were the veggies and stayed clear of all the pastry - cookies - and punch.....ughhh. It was hard -but I kept myself circulating and did not pick up a plate.....I am hoping I can keep up the restraint.

We are expecting a huge snowstorm in CT today - so I think  I will make either Chili or soup for dinner - and try to stay out of the kitchen.

Have a good day

I know what you mean about the holidays. They are a diet buster.  I try not to bake much or keep lots of sweets in the house - but all the social events are killers.

FrownI am a bit disappointed about the scales myself. Yesterday when I weighed in it looked like I had lost 3 pounds in my first week.  But this morning when I rechecked it was only one poound....all  that work!!!!! for one pound.  Hopefully I won't regain that pound today. Why does it have to be so hard now - when I was in my 30s it was so much easier.

Have a great day everyone.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me....

I didn't do too bad last night - but decided that I am now going to try drinking only 1 night a week and that night was Friday night. I find that wine really messes up all my dieting attempts - but I am weak and can't totally give it up.  Today I am going to stick to the diet plan.  I was surprised that even though I logged in alcohol the food meter still gave me an A- ....I thought alcohol would at least give you a D.  Is it measuring staying under your calories only - or the analysis of the nutrition.  Not sure what the grade is actually for>>>>does anyone know.

Thanks,

PS - I went to check on LASIK vision correction and have an appointment for the surgery...anyone here get that done?

Thanks all Embarassed

Mary

Hi All - Can I join this group too?  I am 52 so I hope I am not the oldest one here. I lost about 20 poounds a few years  backand felt so good about myself...but since I had backsurgery in July I have put on an additional 10 pounds plus had put a few on earlier.  My goal is to lose 15 poounds and get back tothe weight I felt good at.  Unfortunately it is soooooo hard.  I don't know if it is menopause or what - but I can lose.  Oh - I might lose about 5 pounds now and then but always put them back on over the weekend...geessshh.  I am committed though.  I found this site on monday and have been faithfully logging on ( I think addicted to loggin on) ever since.  Did great all week - but tonight - is my worst night for blowing my diet. TGIF... hopefully I can go out and have a couple of glasses of wine and not put on 5 pounds like usual....
