Heya!

You sound just like me! I joined CC years ago too but was busy getting my Thyroid gland sorted out but now its much better. Unfortunately it also means I'm heavier than I have ever been!

I have about 50 pounds to lose also! If you need a buddy just let me know, I know how difficult its gona be the next few months cause I'm in the same situation. All the tips gi-jane has given are great and I agree they are a great place to start!

Good luck with the weight loss :)

Okay! My first weigh in back in action yaaay.

LW: 150

CW: 149

GW: 115

I lost a pound so I'm really pleased, it's a good start for me. Also losing the inches quite quickly which is a bonus. Two inches off my hips and one off my waist! My food choices have been okay but exercise needs bumping up a notch so...

- Keep an eye on food choices, try not to stray when snacking

- More exercise needed, walking every day is not gonna be enough!

Yay! :)

Am I allowed back in this group?? I haven't posted in ages cause I had to get my thyroid sorted and nothing was happening and I thought there's no point posting if my weight isn't changing! Now I'm fine and back on the bandwagon! Back at square one and ready to go. Pretty please? Kiss

Thanks miss_red. Yeah I suppose it was the rather quick gain because of the thyroid so i freak out and watch the scale because i wasnt doing it before and look at what happened! I never was overweight before and I ate relatively healthy and did moderate exercise and suddenly because of my thyroid I ballooned a stone and a half in just about 2 months. Now I feel like my older self in a fatter suit. Healthier and better for the meds but cant run up a flight of stairs without getting out of puff. So yeah wud love to have a buddy to chat to :D

It can vary between 30 mins and an hour but I always make sure I'm out of breath and can't do any more and it tends to be either running or aerobics.

Okay well I wanted to get the ball rolling in terms of weight loss for this group seeing as there are so many enthusiastic people and we havent heard from kjk6126 for a while I'm gonna go ahead and say the weigh in day is wednesday as I think that sounds like a good day.

The plan is this, you weigh on wednesday and say your starting weight, last weeks weight and current weight. Maybe also state if you have lost any inches because if you don't lose weight inches can be a great motivator. Also state three goals for the week ahead that you want to achieve.

Good luck everyone, first weigh in day is March 4th and Happy St.Davids Day from here in Wales xxx

I think we should have a weigh in day, all those in favour of wednesdays let us all know so we can get the ball rolling and stay on track and motivate eachother to better slimmer bikini bodies and healthier lifestyles!

kjk6126 - you haven't posted in a while, you still there? :)

really? I mean I try to be as precise as possible and I feel like I get enough energy and what I eat is generally pretty healthy with the odd slip now and then. how much would I have to underestimate to not be able to lose the weight?

Hey all! I have a really slow metabolism and had some thyroid problems but am now on meds so everything is starting to finally come off (slowly but surely) but everyone needs help and motivation so I'm definately in. Would absolutely love a body I won't be shy to show on the beach by summer.

I was a size 10-12 at my slimmest a couple of years ago but haven't been able to get that body back since my thyroid went nutty on me. It's a constant battle but I'm so happy to finally be getting somewhere. Every pound counts on my small frame so luckily I see relatively fast results. I have SO many reasons to do this with no slip ups. My brothers wedding, I'm a bridesmaid. My 21st birthday and my first trip to America, going away to Greece for summer and just to finally be happy with myself.

Age: 20

Height: 5'1

Weight: 151

Goal Weight: 115

lbs to lose: 36

lbs so far: about 7 since I started but have yo-yoed a lot...

Other Goals: Tone up! That's a big one.

- Be able to do more than 5 (yikes!) push ups

- Be healthier in general and drink more water

- I can't fit into my biggest pair of jeans very well so would like to start with fitting the clothes I have now comfortably lol!

Looking forward to getting to know you all Laughing

I haven't weighed in since last week and am starting to be a little disheartened. I've lost only about 2 pounds since I started and I feel like giving up. If it wasn't for my thyroid tablets which I should be getting on Tuesday I would be eating like a monster, I am just barely maintaining my self control. I'm so excited about the prospect of finally feeling like myself again with these tablets and terrified that they won't work. This feels like my last shot to get down to ten stone... If not I think I may just have to give up :(

Okay weighing in today, I've been pretty well behaved over all this week so I'm a little bummed at the results. It really is true what they say, losing weight with a sluggish thyroid is a real pain but it's happening, just really really slowly. Countdown to medication 2 weeks...

No inches lost this week but we can only hope and try to stay on track.

However, really bummed as in two weeks I have to go to the dress fitting for the bridesmaid dresses :( I didn't realise it was going to be so early as the wedding isn't until september! Arrrggghhh!

My goals for this week are to try and lose as much as possible until the fitting and to stick to the Thyroid diet in my book to see if it helps at all....

It's crazy reading back on all these posts since I first put this post up on CC! When I started this I wasn't even sure I had hypothyroidism and now I am going for my third blood test in two weeks time to find out if I need medication once and for all. Symptoms have been much worse lately so I really hope that all goes well and will keep people updated because you all want to know ;)

Staying positive as always x

I have been good this week but I think my thyroid has been getting in the way of weight loss (no surprises there!) which is a little disappointing.

No loss but also no gain either which is a plus, also lost 2 inches off my hips and one off my waist even if my weight didn't change which I take as a good sign!

Good news is though have a docs appointment in about 3 weeks to FINALLY sort my thyroid *fingers crossed* and I bought a great book all about trying to lose weight when you have an underactive thyroid and all the things to do and eat. Yay! Trying to stay positive but well done to the rest of you! You're all doing so well xx

I have borderline hypothyroidism but its literally v.nearly enough for me to take meds so I am having blood tests every 2/3 months now til my doc thinks I can have medication for it. However I have many symptoms including

hair loss, fatigue, depression, constipation, cold intolerance, dry skin, forgetfulness and weight gain.

There are many symptoms for hypothyroidism but these are the most common it might be worth just going to see your GP and asking for a test. Make sure if you are borderline you know exactly where you are because different doctors feel differently about hypothyroidism and some are more helpful than others. Good luck x

Something else I thought of which might benefit you is just having some staple items tailor made for your shape. Expensive but you will look amazing because they will be perfectly fitted :)

Have you tried high-waisted jeans? Not the most gorgeous things to look at I will admit but once you add a top you cant even tell when people are wearing them, ive got a couple of nice pairs that I really like and I wear them with a top that doesn't hug my body too tightly, it can stop that muffin top look if that's what ur worried about :)

I was also thinking, is there anything before I workout that I could eat that would keep my energy levels and stamina higher than usual because that could help a lot?

Weight Loss Hypothyroidism and difficulty in losing weight. Jan 12 2009
11:05 (UTC)
13

I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in December and am waiting for another set of results before starting on any medication... I know exactly how hard it is, before this I could lose weight easily if I stuck to healthy food and a good routine. Since about november I have gained nearly a stone and a half, trying to get it all off again has been a nightmare, weeks of busting my butt with good food and exercise has earned only 2 pounds of weight loss... It's rubbish but keep trying hard, you will get there :)

It can make my muscles ache after using it too so I'm assuming it is doing some good. Though I got a bit put off when it told me I was heavier than my weighing scales did and I know that they are correct...

Congrats to you all so far, doing well :D
