Hey, everyone!

Soooo sorry I haven't posted lately but in all actuality (1) been super busy with daughter's second foot surgery and son's braces that are fixing to go on his teeth, (2) homeschooling, and (3) no weight change to be excited about LOL!!

It was so discouraging to see my weight slowly creep up and then get stuck at 169!!!  I was like "No way!!!!".  I honestly wanted to hide and drink a beer and eat peanuts LOL!!!  So when it finally didn't go up anymore and my Thyroid levels levelled off, I decided to go back to square one as far as the B12/Lipotropics shots, reducing my calories, upping my water and exercise.  Well, it's working!!  I've LOST 3.6 pounds this past week!!!  I am so excited to see it moving in the OTHER direction again!  I simply had hit a wall and the Thyroid needed to be shoved hard... and I guess the shots did it.  So I'm a happy camper.

Hope all that are in our southern states are high and dry right now.  You're in my prayers.... and I honestly mean that.

blueyedblonde1956...  Hubby and I found two... get this.... Western Flyer bikes (those are the kind from Western Auto like my hubby put together when he was a teen working there!!) at a garage sale this morning.  They were only $25 each, so we grabbed them.  I rode up our street (it's definitely up-hill LOL) and back down this morning and my thighs were screaming LOL!  Good exercise, though!

fellow hair-color gals...  Know what you mean about the gray hair!  I can't believe how expensive it is to have it done now!  I really had an itchy scalp the last time I bought a color and did it myself, so I'm a little afraid to do that again LOL.  I would love to high-light it and just work with the gray, but we're talking about $45 just for that!  It's crazy....

Well, we're going back to Ruidoso in Mid September if the roads are fixed.  We got some pictures from our friends and the mud and muck in the houses is crazy.  Bad thing is... FEMA will only assist you if it's a primary residence!!  So all the vacation homes that were destroyed are... well.... kaput!  That's sad.  There are a lot of people here in TX that can't stand the heat, so they use their cabins for the summer, but since that's only 3 months out of the year, the % of use is not what meets assistance requirements.  Go figure.

Well, off to do some laundry and.... Ironing.  Am I the only one who irons anymore?  I just can't stand wrinkles... skin or clothes LOL!!!!

******* hugs, Ro

Chris & Kim...  It's a beautiful place (like Chris said.. when the river is where it belongs!).  To think our dog drank from the river when is was gently flowing through town... wow!

Have been in touch with our friends in Ruidoso from whom we rented our cabin this past week.  From what she knows, all of their cabins are not damaged from the horrible flood.  At last count she had 100+ stranded campers/visitors staying at their office and the surrounding on-site cabins (her maximum occupancy is 28, so many are living out of their vehicles), two of which require diabetic injections.  She said she's been cleaning out her freezer and feeding everyone.  This week is booked solid, but no-one can get to the cabins since most of the bridges are destroyed so she's going to lose a lot of revenue.  She said the National Guard is there and they are bringing in scissor bridges to help evacuate people.  The river is going down, but more rain is expected since this is their monsoon season.

Went online yesterday and saw some of the cabins that were flooded, one of which we were planning on renting in September (it was with another company there in town).  So we called our friend last night and booked her 3-bedroom one for September 8-10 in order to help her business out.  Please keep the people in Ruidoso, NM in your prayers.  Heard from some racetrack workers that the track is ruined and all the tack and gear for the riders is gone as well as the electrical equipment like the tote board and photo finish line.    Being raised around a horse town, I was worried about the horses... but it looks like all the horses were out of their and back at their training stables and none were left overnight Saturday (thank goodness).
The reservation up there was also heavily flooded.  It was kinda muddy when we visited it while we were there, so the additional rain made it a lot worse.  Several stores and lodges/cabins on main street are also heavily damaged.  Our friends' cabins are all in the upper canyon on higher ground and the river couldn't get to them, but some of the cabins are across the river and our friends can't get to THEM (but they don't look to be damaged).  It's so sad.

Check out this link below. The place where the guy from Texas is talking is the intersection to where you went up to our cabin. The river was down from us a way, so his friends are stuck up where we had our cabin... food is in short supply, also.

OMgosh... we just realized in that video that the hispanic couple (he has a goatee and she has long black hair and a black shirt) are the couple that stayed in the cabin behind us.. on their honeymoon!!!
I can't believe God's protection! We were talking about going back there in mid-September and yesterday I just felt so sick to my stomach and telling Tim I didn't want to go back. Figured it was just me not wanting to be locked up in the same house with "salad lady"... but guess not!

Well.. the mountains were fabulous!!  If y'all want to go somewhere awesome, Ruidoso is absolutely magnificent.  We're going back in mid September LOL!!  I walked like there was no tomorrow.  It is such a walker and dog friendly town!!  I loved it!
Came within 15-20 yards of a black bear!  Our kids were like "Mom!  Take a picture!"  LOL!!  Luckily we were in the car.  We took pictures of him, several deer and a swarm of hummingbirds and butterflies.  It was so cool!!

I'm going to my doctor's appointment today.  Hopefully my blood work will reflect how awesome I am feeling!!  I'm going to work in the yard today and take out my petunias that I have in the front and put my geraniums there.  The petunias are so sad looking.
Then I'll pick up around the house and do the laundry (amazing how many clothes you go through!).

I did well on my eating while in the mountains and with all the walking and nature trails I lost some weight.  I think I have my appetite and eating habits so set in place from what I've learned from mydietsolutions... which was a blessing on our trip.  Hopefully I'm on the right path now with my thyroid as well!!
Hugs to all!!

Wow!  I can NOT believe the energy I had today!!!!  I normally rest on Sunday, but due to my Thyroid I honestly need to take advantage of any energy I might have... and today it was an over-abundance!
I did 30 minutes of good water aerobics in the hot tub (my tummy is sore LOL), 30 minutes of Vacuuming the carpet and laminate flooring, at the very least I KNOW I did 3 hours of house cleaning including washing the kitchen cabinets!!!

Breakfast:  Slimfast Shake
Snack:  none
Lunch:  1 Avocado, 1 pack of Starkist Tuna and 1 large stalk of celery all chopped up and mixed together; 4 multi-grain crackers
Snack:  GNU Flavor & Fiber Bar
Dinner:  Slimfast Shake (early), 2 poached eggs, sauteed spinach with a small handful of pecans, Fudsicle

Calories:  1227
Water:  48oz
Exercise:  Boo Koos!!!!

My Thoughts on this Day of the Lord:

I just love my garden... it's such a blessing to me.  When I'm out there, it's like I'm walking hand-in-hand with God... He has created  so many beautiful plants and trees and grasses, if only we'd take the time to appreciate them.  I was thinking the other day that my 4 o'clocks make tons of seeds as do my Malva and Hollyhocks.  Isn't that just like god to put seeds in things so beautiful so that they can be shared with others, or reproduce (just like he told Adam and Eve to go forth and do).  He's just so true to His Word.... where would we be without Him?!

An overcast and cool day here today and I'm actually loving it!  Our pumpkin plant is going crazy!  It's so funny... last year I was adamant about getting out of the Fall Depression state of mind.  I always hated the Fall and Winter because that's when I was couped up in the house and most of the childhood abuse took place.  The trees would lose their leaves and the grass would die, and I felt like a part of me was killed off every Fall and Winter.

Well, last Fall the local grocery store was giving away their pumpkins the day after halloween.  I gathered a bunch of them up and put them all over the back yard in my flower beds and plant pots.  A pumpkin patch that had also been selling pumpkins was also getting rid of all theirs as well, so I had about 30 in all.  I faced my treadmill outdoors so that I could see those pumpkins every time I walked on it.  I looked at those as full of seeds which means full of potential life.  Each seed could produce 20 or so pumpkins.  Each had tons of seeds in them, and each seed also had the same potential... we're talking a major harvest!

Well, I had left a few pumpkins out along the fence on the alley side so that they'd grow and make the alley look good (the blooms are gorgeous!) but for some reason nothing grew.  We ended up re-building our fence and evidently one of those seeds got into my flower bed that's up against the fence and that's where my pumpkin plant that I have now came from.  I had to remove one of my Malva plants in order to make room for it, but that's OK because I have three others to the left of that which are good, established plants full of seeds.  God showed me something in the removing of that plant...

Sometimes we need to get rid of the excess in our lives in order to make room for something that God sees as more important and productive.  It may be downsizing to a different house or car, getting rid of excessive cable channels so that we can have quality time with our family, or even getting rid of the excess weight we carry around so that He can replace that with new healthy cells that will support us for many years!  He's providing me with my own pumpkins this year... grown from something that was given to me freely and without charge.  Even if by chance the pumpkins don't grow... the plant and the blooms have been incredible!  I've never seen such huge flowers!  I've also been capturing rain water in a large tub we purchased at a Garage Sale last week.  It's amazing how the plants actually stand tall and strong after receiving Heaven's water... pure, unpolluted and straight from THE source.

My garden this year has been a teaching straight from God and I've been blessed by it... I hope you have been, too.

I think I could LIVE on Salmon and Tuna!  I love the stuff!  It's edged out chicken in my life LOL!!

Well, I weighed in today and am finally on the downward tracking on my weight again.  Hopefully the Armour is kicking in again and the weight will start coming down, too.

We're having some rain around here, so hopefully it'll give our farmers some relief.  It's been sooo dry, but not as bad as California... bless their hearts!  Hope all are doing well!   Blessings.................. Ro

Della... I'm sorry I didn't answer your question!  I just saw that!  Daughter was getting out of the bathtub and hit the frame of those stupid shower doors that were on there (notice I said "were" LOL... MaMa bear got pretty mad when I found out what happened).  Anyway, I told her that they can't really do anything about a broken toe and she ended up banging it again later on... to which I replied the same.  Well, after a couple months of her saying her foot hurt, plus her callouses were needing looked at at well... we go to my foot doctor.  Low and behold, she broke the big bone on the top of her foot (Metatarsal) and her big toe!  All this time... OMgosh.... I felt soooooo bad!!  So she had surgery on it.  She'll be getting the pins out in two weeks.  Bad mama.....

Betty.... You're right about my water intake, Mom LOL.  It is bad... and I have the blocked colon to prove it... my bad!!  I HAVE TO get my act together on my water intake.  As for the Hot Tub exercises.. I was kinda excited!  made me feel like I was at least accomplishing something besides just sitting there LOL!  I'm fixing to either go for a walk in the neighborhood or do Walk Away the Pounds... can't decide which one.

Hey there ladies!

Been busy taking care of daughter's foot and now it looks like son is going to be having surgery on BOTH feet LOL!  Plus, found out the kids have NO CAVATIES... you'd think I'd be thrilled, right?  but the kicker is... they DO need BRACES.  Yikers!!!  What a month!  But I did find out something cool.....

Figured out that I can do water aerobics in the Hot Tub!!  I was sitting in there thinking "Now how can I turn this down time into some calorie burning?" and realized... bicycle movements, scissor movements, and jack-knifes.  In all of these movements I have to keep my tummy tight as well... it was a good time!  So at least this was a productive day LOL!!

I'm up .6 pounds this week, but I've also renewed my vision again.  I WILL do better starting now.  You know how you have that certain something that caused you tons of problems in your food/drink area? Well... on that wagon that we all fall of... the wheels that are running over my soon-to-be-fat-if-I'm-not-careful butt are Dr. Peppers!  Jason's Deli has the most incredible salad bar and equally incredible made-with-real-sugar Dr. Peppers.  OMgosh.... it's a sin... I'm sure of it LOL!!  At least I'm ending my day healthy (whew!).

My calories today were 1273
Water was 24oz
Exercise was 1 hour of grocery shopping

Breakfast:  Mini Wheats and 2% milk
Lunch: Jason's Salad Bar, Ice Cream Cone, and Dr. Pepper (baaaaad Ro... bad Ro!)
Dinner:  Healthy Choice Soup, Fudge Bar

Well, our trees are even a bit more bare-barked with all the storms around here lately.  Actually they are Sycamore trees and they shed their bark a tiny bit at a time, but the wind sure helped them along the past few days.  They reminded me of the cartoons where some of those cats or dogs or wolves get their fur blown off in a silly explosion and they cross their legs and arms trying to cover up ROFLOL!!!

Took daughter back to the doctor and he took the dressing off, but she's still in the big boot.  She'll get her stitches out next Tuesday and then 2 weeks after that the pins come out.  I don't look forward to the pin day... I know how it felt when mine came out..... YEOW!!!

Well, for calories and stuff I'm doing OK... but not great on exercise.  The doctor increased my Armour today so maybe that'll help with the hunger.

I see you ladies are talking about Bare Minerals... I LOVE that stuff!!  And it lasts forever!

Finally... I've had time between filling ice packs (daughter had foot surgery Thursday), helping daughter to the bathroom, trying to pick up around the house... to sit down and POST!!
Forget about calories, water, and (ha! ha! you must be kidding) exercise LOL!  Hopefully I'll get back on track with my posting and logging foods in (and.. cough. cough.. exercise).

She's doing really well!  Not much swelling (if any) and not a whole lot of pain either.  Thank you, Lord!  Biggest thing is keeping the Sheltie Collie away from her foot when she's laying down... omgosh, can you imagine the scream if she lands on her foot?!

Can't believe the rain and weather we've had here... our grass and flowers LOVE it.  Funny thing is, the other night the wind blew so hard it blew the bark off our tree!  There are pieces all over our back yard... I was like... whoa!!

Betty... we use both the chlorinator and the bromine tablets (in a dispenser).  I finally got the water figured out.  It was the fragrance that makes it a bit cloudy.  The fragrance is just scented and colored epsom salt... guess that's why I always feel so good when I get out... epsom salt really detoxifies you.

Cheryl... Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss.  Unfortunately, this past week it went up (can't imagine why.... stressssssss!!!!!!!).  Let us know how the fundraiser went!  Sounds like an awesome thing that they're doing... what a blessing.

Morning Ladies!!  Thought I'd check in with the group.  I went through some major Thyroid problems, mainly because of the medication Synthroid.  That's some wicked stuff and for someone that doesn't tolerate it well, it made problems even worse!

I ended up slowly creeping up in my weight, couldn't exercise at all because of severe muscle cramps, my moods were horrible and migraines were a daily occurrence.  I kept telling the doctor of all the side effects (for two months), but he just said to hang in there.  Well, I finally had enough and dumped him AND my primary care and found a new doctor.  She said "Obviously, the Synthroid is NOT something you can take and we'll go a different route."  She said she was amazed I didn't gain all the 30 pounds back as bad as my system was going... but I told her I was staying on the B12 Lipotropics and it was keeping some of the hunger and pounds at bay, I guessed.    She said she had no problem with me taking that and I gave her all of Dr. Gates and MyDietSolutions' information so both of them will stay in the loop as to my care.  That was such a relief!  She also changed me to Armour Thyroid which is an all-natural prescription for Thyroid Supplementation and I've not had the headaches like before!

Plus... I LOST 1.2 POUNDS this week!!  I'm so excited!!!  So I'm going towards that goal of 152 again and at least now I feel like the Thyroid meds aren't going to fight me this time.  Whew!

As for the hot tub... I love it and so does the family.  I'm a major neat-nick, so I go bezerk if the water gets cloudy and such (in fact, even wanted to take it back LOL).  After I settled down and figured out that there had to be another way to keep the water from clouding, I drained and refilled it and then got some Sparkle Clear to use when it clouds.  Found out that the clouding is actually our bodies detoxifying!!  The spa opens up the pores really well and dumps all the junk out of them, especially when you let the large hydrojet do your feet!  I'm sure you gals have seen those commercials for those patches that you put on the bottom of your feet and take them off in the morning and they're black.  As each day goes by, the patches clear up... those are detox patches.  Wild thing is... the jets, since they massage the back and the kidney area, actually caused stones that were high in my back to pass on through!!!  I felt them move, then sure enough a couple of days later they passed on out.  WOW!!!  That saved me a major hospital stay and surgery this time!  I usually go through that every summer, but last year my water intake was HUGE, so I didn't have the stones.  With the Synthroid making me so sick and nauseated, I got dehydrated so on came the stones.  So the Hot Tub was more than just a luxury I guess LOL!!

Well, take care everyone and have a blessed week!      ~Ro~

Hi all!  I've been enjoying my anniversary present that my hubby got us.  I never thought I'd like a hot tub, but it really helps relieve the tension.  The kids were in it the other day while I mowed the lawn, then I rinsed off and got in.  We turned it down so that it would be kinda cool for us.  The wind has been horrible here!  Luckily we have it in an enclosed gazebo (well, it's screened in... dust can still get in there), and I keep the cover on when we're not using it.  I got several plants and put in there to "hot-house" it up LOL!

Been doing fairly well on my weight I guess.  Got my shipment of the B6/B12/Lipo shots today so that I can start them up again so I can get over this hump that the Synthroid obviously has built up.  I about tackled the FedEx guy when he came up the driveway LOL.

I also found a new bar to add to my daily routine.  I usually eat the MyDietSolutions ones in the morning since they have around 15 or so grams of protein... but I also NEED FIBER badly, so I came across some that a friend recommended to me.  They're by GNU Foods and they're called Flavor & Fiber Bars.  They're really yummy!  I was surprised!  I like the Banana Nut ones and the Orange Cranberry (I think that's the name) the best.  Never knew fiber could taste good!

Been working some in the yard.  Most of my plants are perrenials so they have come back.  It's just a matter of keeping the blasted weeds and grass out of the beds.  I saw on another thread that a member's doing a new DVD by Leslie Sansone... will have to check it out!  I've slowed down some because my muscles get terribly tired when I exercise (side effect of the Synthroid).  I'm hoping that the shots will kick things back into sync again... they sure helped before.

Hugs to all!!  Ro

Hi Everyone!!!!

I didn't fall off the face of the earth ROFLOL!!  I've just been struggling with this blasted medication and haven't had anything exciting to post since I'm having to fight to keep the weight off!  It makes me so mad!  I get it all off and then he gives me this Synthroid to "fix the problems I'm having" only it causes more problems.  I wouldn't wish this on ANYONE... even my enemies LOL.  He won't even LOOK at doing Armour Thyroid which is a natural alternative, so I may once again be looking for a new Endo doctor (oh joy).

Other than that... I turned 49 YEARS OLD on the 28th and survived!!  Hubby told me that for my birthday... and this is his words.... "I'm letting you sleep with Kasey Kahne for your birthday".  For those of you who don't know, Kasey is a cutie patootie NASCAR driver with the most gorgeous smile and blue eyes and... and... OH MY!!!  Well... as it turns out hubby gave me Kasey Kahne #9 pajama bottoms to sleep in ROFLOL!!  So I had to have a sleep apnea test on Friday night and the lady doing the test said she could see these #9's glowing in the dark and had to laugh.  She said she could tell where I was on the bed every minute LOL.... had my built in night light LOL.

Have been a blowing and a going as far as working with my flowers.  Our Anniversary (18 years) is tomorrow and at first hubby was going to put in a sprinkler system to help me out with everything... but instead he's springing for a.......... HOT TUB!!!!!!   OK... I'm excited!  Electricians are coming out tomorrow for some other electrical work, and then we'll have the guys deliver the Hot Tub on Wednesday.  Toooo cool!!

Well, I'm still trying to do the WATP videos.  My muscles are spasming a LOT (another wonderful side effect of that drug from Hell-O).  Hopefully the Hot Tub will help my muscle issues.  Well, that's all for now... will post again soon.

Hugs.............. Ro
