Weight Loss I hate Girl Scout cookies! Mar 05 2008

I practically ran the other way when the girl scout came rolling up with her wagon but of course my husband was like "Of course we want cookies" I just let them pick ONE box and I didn't get my favorite kind (because I could literally eat the whole box in one sitting) so I'm avoiding that one box like the plague until my son and husband manage to polish it off
The Lounge Getting Married At 18...Why Is It Looked Down Upon? Mar 05 2008

At 18 most people lack the ability to make a lifelong committment. A person changes a lot between the ages of 18 and 25. There is no way to determine if the changes you will go through and the changes your spouse will go through are going to be compatible. I have a friend who married her high school sweetheart at 18 and 10 years and 2 children later are still happily married. They are definitely the exception and not the rule.

I got married just after I turned 19. I continued to mature and become more responsible. My spouse felt like he was "missing out" on being young and became less mature, expecting me to pick up the slack. We eventually just became too incompatible to continue living together and called it quits. I was 25 when I got married "for real" and it was great that I waited until I really had become an adult on my own.

You've had some good suggestions so far, another I would give is to wear shoes of natural material like leather or cotton. Synthetics don't let your foot breathe and can cause odor to be worse. (At least that is what my son's pediatrician told me when we were discussing his nasty little toes. LoL) It did help with my son's foot odor.

The Lounge Just curious. Ladies, do you wear makeup daily? Jan 17 2008

I rarely wear makeup, only if I'm going to be presenting for work or for a special occasion where I'm going out somewhere. I do however shave at least every other day (daily in the summer when I'm wearing shorts and swimwear).

I don't like to wear makeup because my skin feels like it can't breathe when I wear foundation, my eyes will get irritated and/or I will wipe it off without thinking, lipstick rubs off and doesn't do a whole lot to keep my lips healthy. My skin is much healthier when I'm not putting makeup all over it, then using remover to take it all off. I just use my normal cleanser and a moisturizer with sunscreen.

I use lipgloss pretty regularly. I really like all of the CO Bigelow line (from Bath and Body Works) and Vaseline. I don't use chapstick because it ends up making my lips more dry and flaky. Vaseline is awesome for keeping your lips moisturized and looking great.

Occasionally I will throw on some mascara just to brighten my eyes. I use baby wipes to take it off. Maybe once a month or so, more often if the occasion calls for it, I will do eyeliner and/or shadow with mascara, a little cream blush, with colorstay lipstick or just my normal gloss. I've got a powder type foundation but I think I've used it twice in 8 months.

I find it interesting, and a little insulting, that someone would insinuate that just because a woman doesn't care for wearing makeup that they would not be feminine in the way of keeping their legs and armpits shaved. I am a very feminine woman and feel that I look just as pretty with no makeup as I do with a face full of it.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I think you should wait to get married because right now you may just be doing it for a sense of security and if he's got any kind of second thoughts you don't want to rush into doing something that you'll regret later.

I would sit down and talk with him and make sure he does in fact want to get married. If he doesn't, then it is time to start looking for your own place. You moved in together with the understanding that you would be getting married. If he doesn't plan to or want to hold up that end of the agreement, then make some changes. Don't waste your life on someone that isn't on the same page as you.

I think most of them look pretty good, but Hilary Duff, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Garner, Alicia Silverstone and Jessica Alba in my opinion are AMAZING. Those women all look about as perfect as they do fully made up. There are a couple of pictures in there that are very unflattering but not because the women aren't pretty just because they're unflattering pictures. I'd hate to be one of those women who are under the microscope all the time.
Weight Loss How often do you weigh yourself Jan 11 2008

I am an obsessive person and therefore weigh myself once a week and always on the same scale - at the gym! That way I'm not tempted to weigh myself every day. You're going to see ups and downs and that would make me insane so I just don't fall into that trap.

1) So if you don't want to just shrink down into a smaller version with same proportions, add weight training.

4) In the meantime, wear SKIRTS!!!

Tops are very VERY easy to take in at the waist. Actually, often easier than a hem! If you can sew, you can do this yourself in minutes and without much skill.

I have 2 pairs of jeans that I love that have stretch - one by Lucky and one is Grane (wearing them now). They're not cheap though and I'm a jeans girl. Work clothes are really what i struggle with because it's harder to find fabrics that are as sturdy as denim that still look tailored. Skirts are a good idea, but I have huge scars on both knees so I tend to be a little self conscious and long skirts are no good on me because I'm too short to pull them off and look professional.

I guess you're right on the tops though, I just hate buying a 2XL and then taking the time to sew in the sides. I'm lazy, I want to wear something off the rack dammit!!!

Very good tip about the weight training to reshape though. Thanks!

I can't afford to have anyone do it for me.  i wonder if I use a tiny zigzag stitch if that would work.

Yes a tiny zigzag stitch would work. Also if you stretch the material as you're sewing it you can usually get away with just using a straight stitch. All depends on how much stretch is in the fabric but regular old sweats you could totally work.

This is why I took up sewing.  I learned how to make clothes that fit, in styles I wanted even though I had to live with a few adjustments, but in the end I found a cheaper alternative to dressing how I want.

Funny you should say that because the reason I was posting is I went to put on a skirt I had made for myself this morning and it didn't fit! hahahahahaha

I think besides the person being warmer the room is also warmer so maybe the combination of both contributes. I mean, this is if the scale is in the bathroom where I think most people keep theirs.

Well my bum is in good shape, the only thing out of shape and where I carry ALL my weight (plus apparently the weight of several other people) is my stomach.

Yes and my FAVORITE thing to make on that is seasoned chicken. I get the salt free seaonsing like lemon pepper and put it on boneless skinless chicken breasts that I have trimmed all the fat off of. It takes like 5 minutes depending on how large/thick they are and it's really good.

oh god.  no personal offense, but i think i would cry (and write them out of my will) if my kids turned out to be conservative republicans...

my family is all super-liberal...about half of us are registered as democrats, and the other half independents.  i would totally register as an independent if i could vote in the primary (as you can in New Hampshire).

we were divided a bit on the 2004 democratic primaries...my mom was a kerry fan, i was a dean supporter, not sure what my brother was, and i think my dad even voted for al sharpton.   this year, we are all obama all the way...which was confirmed on christmas, when we all gave each obama gear presents!

None taken, I'm sure my parents feel the same way.

Over a yr ago when I first started calorie counting I decided to go to a all organic grocery store that was over 2 hours from me. The cashiers and most of the employee's were all of asain descent. Since I dont speak the language I didnt have a clue what they were so chatty about once I got my cart up to the checkout line.

So the next time I went their I brought a friend with me that could interpret the language for me because it got me curious I must admit im a glutton for punishment. The first thing out of the cashiers mouth when in line was " Oh the fat american girl is here trying to be skinny again" with a large giggle. So I had my friend politely say to her yes my overly plump friend is here buying your rather expensive merchandise shall I ask for the manager or will you keep your trap shut the next time she is here? She turned about as red as can be and never looked either one of us in the eye hehe.

Oh my gosh that is funny! I am going to stay in the dark about what my nail girl says about me when I'm there. It's probably along the lines of "Oh the neurotic girl is back again"

I was a cashier at a grocery store a lifetime ago, too young to worry about what I was eating, but I never judged a person's purchases. If they were overweight and buying twinkies, who cares. If they were underweight and buying diet soda, who cares. BUT I did do a lot of "Dang that looks good, I need to find some of that."

skinny jeans.

I don't care if you're fat or thin, skinny jeans are horrible. Especially if you have stumpy legs, Do people not look in the mirror? It looks terrible. Honestly. And even worse, skinny jeans that need washing so they've gone sorta baggy around the arse.

Men wearing girls jeans

Why? there are mens jeans around, Don't advertise the fact you can fit your package into a pair of jeans aimed at fitting 14 year old girls. Its not attractive, its off putting and quite frankly you look stupid. Take the eyeliner off too while your at it.

Vista reminds me of someone who went to the circus on acid and then decided to revamp the user interface for windows. It's incompatible with SOOOOO many programs and the new versions of Office are difficult and **** to use. I do tech support so I've been dealing with a lot of people who got stuck with laptops that are now a huge pain because nothing works. Camera - ooops, drivers are incompatible. Printer - oh yeah that doesn't work either. Can't get any of your peripherals to work and any of your software programs that aren't the latest Microsoft programs - yeah well you're pretty much screwed. Don't do it!
