The Lounge Can't you just be proud of me? Mar 31 2009

My parents did something similar when I was in school. We had an agreement that I would get an "allowance" every month to pay for rent and groceries because it cost the same to live off campus as on campus. Long story short, when I got a job during school, they cut off the allowance without telling me. Basically, I was saving nearly every penny I earned at work and they assumed I was spending it all.

When I called them up to figure out what was going on, my mom said: "Your dad works very hard for his money and thinks you're taking advantage." WHAT? Are you joking? I was so upset. I was a very hard-working student. In fact, I did Running Start in high school so I completed two full years of college for free. They didn't have to pay a thing; the school district paid my tuition. Then, I transferred to a state college and won a scholarship. Aside from the living expenses, they only had to cover 50% of in-state tuition. Since I was considered a junior in the college's eyes, I was able to take evening classes and maximized my time by getting a day job.  It's not like I was making a ton of money; it was barely above minimum wage. In any case, they thought I was recklessly spending the money so they stopped paying for my rent and groceries. Three years later, I don't care about the money, but the emotional aspect still stings.

March 28 - Big ZERO. I enjoyed a piece of cake and no exercise. Overall, I felt miserable all day.

March 29 - 422

14,901/17,500 - Even with today and tomorrow, I don't think I'll reach the goal, but I definitely got close!

I get them. I'm on yaz, which increases potassium, so that's not the issue. Taking chelated magnesium supplements seems to help, although I got one the other day, and it took forever to get rid of.

I didn't even think of that! I'm on Yaz too, so maybe I'll look out for the supplements to help with the cramping. It kills my feet after a run and I know it's not from my shoes...

Same thing happens to me...right in the arch of my foot. It only happens when I work out frequently and watch what I eat. Funny how that works. I'm trying to get my body healthy and it's screaming at me. Guess I need to listen. Undecided

I also eat two squares of dark chocolate at night. I have the same sweet cravings after lunch, so I chew a piece of sugar-free gum. The bubble gum flavor tastes so sweet that it kills the cravings. Doesn't work in the evening, so I save about 100 calories for the dark chocolate.

3/17 - 0 - I enjoyed a few too many pints with co-workers, but managed not to go over maintenance.

3/18 - 494 - Even though I was at a conference, I brought my own snacks. I also woke up early and worked out in the hotel gym. Very proud of myself for that!

If you were sophisticated, maybe you would know how to spell. Wink

NJ calls it soda, down here it's coke (no matter if it's sprite, pepsi or dr. pepper... it's all coke...  they'll ask you which kind of coke... seriously)

In Washington State, it's pop. Not soda pop, just pop.

The Lounge is "penis" a dirty word? Mar 17 2009

Original Post by cptbunny:

Doesn't sound dirty but the female bits do for some reason. :/

I used to feel dirty saying any of the bits - male or female! Now, I'm a little more comfortable with "penis", but anything else sounds dirty. I guess I'll just be awkward like that. My husband doesn't get it, but maybe that's because he took tons of anatomy and physiology type classes in college. I'm a business major. Smile

With sugary cereals, yes. With cereals full of grains and bran, not so much. Smile

I used to go back for seconds if there was even a drop of milk left at the bottom of the bowl. I would say to myself, "Gotta use up the rest of that milk!"

Please go see an orthodontist.  They deal with structure of the FACE not just your teeth.  I work in the orthodontic industry and they are by far the foremost experts in correcting TMJ.  May still mean you need surgery but they will be the ones to identify the problem and possible corrections.

Good Luck

Just an aside: orthodontia did not solve my TMJ. My teeth are straight and my overbite is gone, but the TMJ remains.

Thank goodness I rode to work today because I made banana bread and thoroughly enjoyed a few pieces. Still maintained a deficit though!

Weight Loss EEEEK what did i do? Mar 13 2009

@themassageguy - How about everything in moderation instead?

I'm seriously skeptical that there is a way to "push" the fat calories out of your body faster than digestion allows. No matter what, that food is going to pass through your intestinal tract.

Sorry, original poster, didn't mean to rant.

@pavlovcat and flogginsully - So true. I just wish I could afford to eat like that...

@sortofhuman - Chicken breast and ground turkey rule at my house. I also throw in boneless pork chops when they are priced reasonably.  I'm just not a big fan of red meat...

For March 12:

7,329/17,500

Almost halfway through the month and almost halfway to the calorie deficit goal! Unfortunately, I have to go out of town for training for two days next week and I'm not looking forward to the catered food. I won't have the selection of a restaurant, but I really hope they have some healthy choices. Knowing my co-workers, I bet I'll be the only one eating the veggies...Wink
