Yeah eating like that is usually what ends up making me feel sick. It starts off with "i need to see how this is turning out...and trying this....maybe adding and trying this too..." to eating half the thing and regreting it. its a self control thing i need to learn. next time, i'll do your thing with the vegetables (and hope it doesnt fill me up enough to not want to eat afterwards!). |

doctor told both me and my mother directly that i need to watch my sugar and some other things. my mother suddenly changed from her "EAT HEALTHY!!!" attitude that i've known for the past 18 years to "lets go out for cheesecake. how about some chocolate cake" within a day. I have no idea why shes being so unsupportive, maybe its some reverse psychology method i dont know. Just wanted to say, unsupportive family/friends is common i guess |

ok so I consulted my doctor again. She told me my bones wont be getting any stronger so I would hav to focus on not gaining weight (and getting some muscle, I assume). Physiotherapist said something of the sort too, but said it wasnt a proffesional opinion... Either way, I dont want to aim at gaining or losing weight or anything. Just not binging and being HEALHY again. The doc also said that if I'm insulin resistant, its new and mild, and so it's not worth getting checked yet, and I should just assume I am and watch out....which means I have to look up what exactly I need to "watch out" for. Any ideas? I just know I shouldnt eat alot of sugar or simple carbs by themselves...am I right? |

thanks gi-jane, you always have some advice for everyone! I will try to aim for a calorie range of 1900-2000. Am i right in assuming that gaining some weight at first would be normal (considering that ive been eating either way too much or way too little)? I'm considering following that mealplan for a few days, and changing a few things to my preference and convinience. Since i'll be moving to the UK soon, that website seems a good choice to look around too. I don't know if I will be able to include that much variety in my diet, but I am definetely going to try... And no..my doctor didnt tell me about consulting a dietician. I guess it could be a good idea, but right now I'm about to move and I have no idea where to find one here. I might see if my university has one once I get there. "to what your doctor said, I thought people who were slightly heavier developed slightly stronger skeletons as a result." so would you say that if I were to get heavier, my bones would be able get bigger? or just stronger? I'll ask my physiotherapist (would a physiotherapist know?), just in case the doctor is mistaken. |

UGH i feel like its puberty all over again. Pimples, mood swings (although I'm good at controlling them, they still happen), bloating, gas, occasional constipation... its supposed to go away, i know, and the gastrointestinal side effects have decreased a little bit. But I really hope the pimples and mood swings go away too. I hate feeling so upset for no reason. I could, at one time, be thinking of all the things I hate about my life and go on and on for ages, theres so many, yet I could also completely forget them and not have a care in the world for anything but some fun. I really hope to not gain weight from this either, the binging issue is doing that for me anyway. I better not turn back into my 10-11 (yes, early puberty) self. |

I cant really think of anything besides fixing your eating habits. Regular healthy eating and excersize? I have the same problem thanks to binging, and would like to hear other peoples inputs as well (although I have a hunch its going to be the same: healthy lifestyle) |

I can understand how he might not want to have blueberry pancakes for dinner. Some people just stick with some things for just certain meals. I can't imagine having chicken for breakfast. I wouldnt mind blueberry pancakes for dinner though =] that being said, its pretty irrational for him to get all worked up and verbaly abusive about it... |

NOOOOOO dont listen to anyone who says eat less than 1500. Trust me, there is NO way that you will not lose weight eating 1500 calories a day. If you've been undereating, you may gain a bit at first, but afterwards it'll all come off. And that's only if you're really doing nothing AT ALL all day. 1800 is better if you're lightly active (which doesnt mean regular excersize, it means you do more than just sit on a chair all day. Do you walk anywhere? between classes? thats activity too). I'm shorter than you, and I maintain at around 1600-1800 usually. This is without any excersise at all. And trust me, Im no "special case" with fast metabolism or anything. this is normal. Most adults dont even need less than 1500 to lose weight. So unless you have some severe medical problem that causes you to have an immensely slow metabolism (in which case you should be asking a doctor for advice anyway), you should eat more than 1500, even to lose. |

| Health & Support | can too much water cause bloating? | Jun 26 2009 00:47 (UTC) |

I know that since the binge was very large, and also on not-so-great food, the sodium content must have been alot. But I figured that when my stomach began sticking out as if I'm carrying a 5kg block of cement, that was the result of the binge food. I guess I was just wondering why the rest of the bloat, the swelling everywhere else besides my stomach, didnt happen untill I began drinking even more water, which was atleast 8 hours after the binge... Oh and, I know I shouldnt dwell on it too much. Forgive and forget. I'm just curious about these little things. Although I really really wish I wouldnt have a reason to be. Gaaaah if I can just stop this stupid issue...:S How much water will it take to stop the swelling? I know my stomach won't be back to its regular size for atleast a few days, but what about the rest of my body? It feels wierd to move because my skin feels strechy whenever I move, and walking is uncomfortable because my feet and legs are swollen too. :( |

it sounds like you need to see how fun eating can be and how eating alot isnt necessarily going to make you fat. i'm sure you're aware of that, but unconciously you still think that you need to eat less and lost weight. how about you try not counting calories for a while, and just watch your portions and servings instead? like say that you're going to get about 5-7 servings of grains or carby stuff in a day, so something like : 1 serving cereal, 2 slices bread, 1 serving crackers, 1 serving pasta/rice. and then say 3 servings of protein-y stuff, for example: 1 egg, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 serving chicken/meat/tofu/fish. and then 3 servings dairy, like: 1 cup yogurt, 1 cup milk, 1 serving cheese. and then 3 fruit, 3 veggies, etc etc. when it comes to planning things like what to mix together, it can be exciting to try new things, getting the negative thoughts out of your head maybe? or maybe you can try organizing fun events with friends with healthy food around, so that you can put the food and the fun together. like a movie night, with lots of healthy snacks. if you manage to eat well and have fun without getting upset about how much you eat or what you eat, then its a plus. |
