| wow lots of replies i never expected this many! haha.. just revisted this thread to check it. i rant too much :P glad its helped some (esp Archesophos) I also have a sign like that up on my fridge. My way to stop it, even though i live with a family that will eat choclolate and cheese till the cows come home.. .and a Mother that will make Bread pudding (something i could eat for a whole day and some more) I just simply hide it all from sight., Out of sight out of mind works for food. And instead, In sight i have grapes, apples, no calorie jellys and skinny cow ice creams for emegerices. lol.
For those whos weak points is Chocolate, i recommened looking up NOURISH CHOCOLATE. it has 4 types, and each type has benifical herbs and omega 3's added in. So its something good included in your treat! |

| Weight Loss | So it really doesnt matter what you eat......... | Mar 26 2007 17:08 (UTC) |

| i agree with BG, sort of. The saturated fat will glue to your body if thats all its getting as your body will want to store what food it gets. Bad food will make you fat, regardless of calories
if you ate chocolate at 9am, and worked out at 6pm. you will have stored some fat from the chocolate before hand as the choc causes sugar rush does it not? what happens if that sugar rush is not used as energy witin 20 mins? its stored as fat. And the exercise you do later, wont move that new stored fat.. just help a bit. I can explain better with diagrams and such but its a bit hard on here! |

They keep me sane when i need a treat. and i have loads in my fridge - one a day.. 80 cals. Same as having a biscuit :P.
they do low sugar ice cream too.. which is good! You could try the ben and jerrys frozen yogurt desserts? |

| Weight Loss | Yet another BMR question... | Feb 20 2007 23:08 (UTC) |
|
| MY CALORIES in and out (129 pounds, 5'4 female, 20) BMR 1418 I have been Maintaning for 2 years at my current weight. i have worked this out over a two year time frame and it is correct. for males, add around 200 cals on the BMR. noneactive day (sitting, getting ready, walking around the house): 1718 (LIVING CALS+ 300 For moving) modrate active (work, walking, talking, walk to bus stop) 1938 (LIVING CALS+5OO for moving) High activty day (clubbing, exercise, dancing long walks, long stint of housework, long day rushing at work) 2418 (LIVING CALS+1000 for moving) --------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------ I always go with vairation, it helps me lose and tone up. It works better to vairatie, in my opinion :) |

| Motivation | Do you ever feel like it's impossible for you to be thin? | Feb 18 2007 11:12 (UTC) |
20 |
| i have been at this a year PLUS, and i cant seem to get below 34c-27-34. i have tried. But.. the running machine on Monday might help. My advice? persiver! keep GOING! i mean, i thought i could never ever be a size 12, yet alone a size 10 (8 usa) with a hypothyriod. I used to be convinced i could never get thinner... my stats were 38DD-34-39/40 and i was CONVINCED i could not get thinner, so i kept eating like i was already thinking what the point? (chips, chocolate) so no wonder i didn't lose weight!! now im a size 8 in some stores (In USA i think thats a 6?) my aim is 34c-24-33 i have natural small hips but a big butt that never goes i have to live with that lol. |

| Weight Loss | Not hungry | Feb 15 2007 17:42 (UTC) |
6 |
| i controdict what the others say, if im honest. If you overate yesterday then your body will be still using some of the calories from yesterday. One day of 600 to 900 calories will not hurt, and might even do your body some good. Resting the bowels. Eat ONLY when your hungry today, or your fill crappy. When i over eat, say 2,000 instead of my normal 1,700. the next day its normal for me to only want 1,000, max 1,200 becasuse im still using the calories from yesterday. |

| Weight Loss | calculating chocolate box | Feb 14 2007 23:04 (UTC) |
4 |
| chocolates from a box (cadburys dark magic, cadburys dairy box, thorntons chocoaltes etc) are roughlty the same weight, 15g to 22g. So.... assuming like most chocolate, a 100g of them would be 530 calories (the av.amont in 100g of any chocolate) you work it out like so; 530 (calories) divided by 100 (weight) TIMES by the weight of the chocolate piece (22g) = 116 cals per chocolate. 530 (calories) divided by 100 (weight) TIMES by the weight of the chocolate piece (15g) = 79 cals per chocolate. |

| starvation mode question - my opinion is that as long as u give your body the nutrients it does not matter about the calories. Nutrients are more important and anyway, one day of S.M realy wont hurt. It will give ur bowels a rest and also if u constanly eat large quinties of calories everyday, you will not use up all the energy. So one day of around 900 to 1,000 (no lower) will not harm you.
Personley, i think feeling hungry sometimes makes you feel good and appresate the food you are giving your body. Second, im Maintaning on 1,700 to 1,800 and have not put my calories up to 2,100 which is my recommened intake. Because im stable on what im eating. And i dont need the extra caloreis. PLUS the odd day at 2,000 will stablize out during the week if you go by eat when your hungry. Normaly with me, one blow out day of 2,100 + cals = the next few days fine on 1,200 where as normaly i would be on 1,800. |

| try saving half for later. Or timing yourself.I started timing and now it takes me 5 mninites to eat a cookie, 20 minites to eat a 100g pot of dessert and half a hour to eat a main meal. its just traininng. And plus the slower you eat the less you will eat. It takes 20 mins for you to realise your full. | |||

| Foods | Diet coke-no calories? | Jan 24 2007 11:12 (UTC) |

| it will make a differnce to your health. yes, a 2 little bottle will have about 10 caloires in it. BUT it has been shown to thin womens bones and also it is packed of chemicals that will make you feel like crap. Have TOPS a 500ml serving of diet anything a day. REPLACE it with water. Water WILL help keep you hydrated AND wll clean up your skin, stop bloating and sharpen your mind. Water can also help you lose weight by balancing your electrolites and making your body more effecint. Coke does sod all for your health, even diet stuff. |

| I used one my nan has that they use in the surgery, so its accurate. I have read that its heart realted, or it can also be due to good phyiscal condition and also its a side affect of hypothyiod! Im sorta glad its not just me in a a way, but it sounds like it could be serious to leave it. My blood sugar is 5.3 i dont know if they are related (again done with a pharmacy machine). I get light headed sometimes.,. but you know clairelaine it could be due to my low salt intake, which you picked up on ages ago? so many things agh! thank you all for your replys, nice to see im not alone.. frighting to see what it can do :s brave people you are! |

| hypos dont give up!!!
MY DAD just went to the doctor after embarking on my fitness training (smaller portations, cross trainer and walks during the week) and is now out of the overweight bracket, and into just the 'be carefull' side! He said he would never be able to lose weight, but he has and he feels great! he said he had no time, had a underactive thyriod (like me!) he "didnt eat that bad anyway" and he was active at work. I found out - all lies lol. The doctor said 'for every 2 pounds a none-underactive thyriod would lose, you lose half a pound' It might take twice as long guys, but even us Hypos can do it!! Dont give up!!! |

| The Lounge | Intestinal Parasites? (VERY GROSS) | Jan 06 2007 01:04 (UTC) |

| I take a antiparasetic drug every 6 months at work (Vets) And have high hygene levels becaue of them. worms can be carryed under your nails, and thread worms can be transmitted to you in the air (the eggs) as they are so small. Worms are easy to treat with antiparasite drugs from the chemists. Also, they cannot stand garlic (its not a old wifes tale) so up your intake of that whist you wait.
Tape worms can be got though beef cysts that you dont reaslise you are eating, and rounsworms can be gotten by low hygene. They can also cause blindness and can migrate to behind the eyes in children. |

| Weight Loss | Why would a 5' small boned woman need as many cals as someone taller? | Jan 03 2007 00:59 (UTC) |

| i assume becuase a adult women no matter her size still has a stomach, spleen, intestine, heart, lungs and muscles to feed and enegize? she needs enegery to menstate too. you can have less calories on some days but not all. No matter if your 4"1 or 6"1, your bodys internals need 1,200 to keep you alive. Unless you sit at home and vegetate, then you can eat 800 cals and live - but in startvation mode as your body looks for nutrients |

| call me crazy, but is a chocolate bar realy worth a flabby belly, rubbing theighs and a unhappy life? Go with what your friends say 'one more wont hurt, have some more choc!' and your soon become huge. what im trying to get across here There is no one who can motivate you - but yourself. There is no point going half heartdly into these things you have to want it. Im right now writing myself a list of what i want, how i feel now and how i will achive my goals, and writing all my excuses and then typing anwears to these. the simple anwear is with chocolate..sad as it may be eat crap; get fat. you cant have it both ways, unless you have extreme will power and can eat MAX 10g a day (two blocks of cadburys, or two celebrations etc) but its best to cut it out and have nutrient foods like grapes. dont seek advice, just do what you feel you can do. Even if its startingwith a walk and start exercising again. you know what it does to your body, and if you go with the rough calorie idea of 1,400 on a unactive day and 1,800 on a work day you will see a change!! Dont give up!! |

| i put washing upliquid on leafover cakes, and stuff. so i dont nibble. i try (it works sometimes) to just look at the food, adnd break it down into what it is cake, for example fat, more fat, sugar, bit pf protein from egg, more fat and sugar. Now, from your bodies point of view it will use the protein from the egg BUT the rest wiill sugre into your blood stream, And i dought your gonna run right after you ate or do something like exercise. you sit down - so all that enery soon thinks 'oh, we arn't needed.. lets go store this on her hips!!' and then, you have a ich of fat on your hips becuase you enjoyed 5 miniites of cake which did your body no good and you no good. yeh, thats how i do it :) easir said than done, like all things... |
