Damn, Well David Carridine from Kung FU and Wild West Tech was found dead.

He kicked much butt and stayed amazingly active in his 70s.

Last night 3.5

Total: 3.5

Planks 10

Fay: Don't do a push up, just get into the position and try to hold it... start with 10 secounds at a time... Drop it and weight for 30 secounds then try to do another 10 secounds.

Great Starts Everyone!

Susiecue: Why don't you try just doing the side plank poses 30 seconds each on both sides for a week untill your really comfortable on both sides.  There is nothing wrong with taking your time but if you push to hard you can hurt yourself with that workout.

I went to our first Search and Rescue meeting last night all the way out in Boulder, By the time I was coming home it was pouring rain and I had to put my top on my Jeep!  LOL I got rained on a bit.  Which is weird when you are driving.  Anyway I got home at 9 to a very worried dog.  Tonight I plan on a good 3 mile walk and fixing my tread mill.  And of course my arms!

You might want to get your Thyroid checked up on.  Sometimes they can change quite suddenly.  I would really want to rule that out first if I were you.

So really were talking about 4-5 lbs here?  It's possible some of it can be muscle... did you start lifting more?

I think eating more calories is a step in the right direction regardless.

I had the same problem after I really got into Kung fu.

See I started Kung Fu at 165 lbs with some irritating fat around my midsection... not enough to make my stomach not flat, but I didn't like the look of it.

After a year of a work out life like the one you described for yourself I weighed 185 lbs and still had just a little bit of stomach fat... but now I was "overweight".  So then I started working out hearder and eating less.  I got down to 178 developed anemia, started purging and ended up weighting 215 when everything was all done.  So clearly that isn't what you want to do.

This is what I suggest.

1. Focus on your body, not the scale

Trust me if you are fit and active you will generally weight much more then you look because you are strong!  Be honest and forgiving of yourself.  Genetics has much more to do with 6 pack abs then behavior.

2. Eat more eat often

Eating more sustains your metabolism and will help keep your energy up for your workouts.

Weight Loss (help) confused about the wrist measurement/body size thing Jun 01 2009

Is there any other way to find out that isn't based on the size of your hand relative to the size of your wrist?

Weight Loss (help) confused about the wrist measurement/body size thing Jun 01 2009

It really doesn't work for anyone though... all it really is an arbitrary decision based on the size of your hand compared to the size of your wrist... So it assumes that if your hand is much larger then your wrists then you are small boned....

But what if your hand is larger then your wrist because you have big hands or long fingers??

According to the test I am Small boned or have a small Frame.  Trust me... that isn't the case.  Not at all.

201 lbs today.  Which is actually a pretty good spot right now.  I got down to the 190s last week but the weight loss was unnatural due to a sickness so I am glad to see that I am recovering but not gaining lots of extra weight.

Today I start my Search and Rescue Training with my Puppy Grendel  Wish us luck!

5'10" here... 185 (down from about 225 at xmas, woo hoo)... classic rubenesque shape, I mean CLASSIC.  Those paintings? yeah, THAT'S ME.  butt was the first thing to go, (I think it will be concave soon), then tummy, hips are as wide as they ever were seems like... the pants thing is always challenging for us tall women, no matter what size, but to top it all off, I'm now at this weird in between place, the smallest plus sizes are too big and the biggest regular sizes are too small... if the waist fits, the hips don't, or the hips fit but they look like high waters, or the jeans are long enough but i'll never fit in them even when I do hit GW, because THAT'S BONE THERE!  Yargh!  I'm a bit of a tomboy so the shoes thing isn't much of an issue, but i actively avoid shoes that'll add to my height at all.  And I totally find myself compensating for my height when I'm chatting with someone who is shorter (which is EVERYONE) by sitting, or standing a few feet away from the person, or slouching, or doing this thing where I spread my feet a little wider than shoulder width which brings me down a couple inches.  I just don't like towering over people, I don't want to intimidate them!

In short... ladies, I feel your pain.  :)

LOL Oh my  god.  Does your underware fall off your butt because there is no butt to hold it up?  mine does all the time hehe.

I used to stand with my legs slightly apart too... and I never ever cross my arms around my chest because lol well it looks bad what with the squeezing of the boobs... So I stand with my hands on my hips.

Legs slightly apart, hands on the hips... back straight.  lol That's right I stand like wonder woman!

Why not... I AM a Amazon Princes! Tongue out

... I'm 5'10" 200 lbs.  And I want to get down to 185, which according to my  nutritionalist is the lowest I should every try to go with my current muscle mass.

I ware a size 14 on button and a 16-18 on top... I got big boobs.

Anyway I just wanted to rule in and shake a stick for all the big girls out there.  I may weight 200 lbs but I think calling me obese is ludicrous.  The BMI is a joke.

If you want to know what you should weight and really feel sure about it ask a doctor (preferably nutritionist) who knows more about weight and health then he gleans from a out dated and over generalized graph.  We are all fantastically different; 150 lbs on me and my family would hospitalize me!  Trust me They were Freaked out when I weighed 165… Anyway the point is you can’t figure out if YOU are healthy by looking at someone else.

Let me know what corrections I need to make!!! Thanks!

I think that I'll just stick to the 176.5 miles this time around.  No options, or super-sizing, for me.  Maybe next time, depending on how things go.

Thanks for managing this challenge; it should be a great motivator.

Haha, Ok Fair enough.  However If you stay with us for July I'll have to get you doing some arms and Core or Faye will never forgive me!

Oarsman, Miserybabe, Myhosi:  Do you want to do any of the arms/core options?

And as far as logging the miles we generaly check in once a day or so to touch base tell what your doing or planning and get some good support.

Sarah,

LOL I love the Enthusiasm, but just doing More of option 4 will work all of the same muscles and more ... it will be way easier and faster to just focus on that.

Doing 1, 2, 3 on top of that would be redundant.

Try for 10-20 of option 4 a day and then try to work your way higher.

OK Faye... I put you for Option 2...

But Start at option one and try to work your way up over a week or so, then let me know how you are doing and we'll move you down if we need to.

Please don’t use ankle weights… in my opinion it really really isn’t healthy.  Our Knees are kind of a weak link and making your feet unnaturally heavy just doesn’t seem like a good idea.

Like I told you before You need a good weight vest to slow you down.  Have you invested in one or are you still just carrying books?

At this point, I would be AMAZED with myself if I made it, haha. May, where did you go?

I think I have DEFINITELY walked over 50 miles this month total, it's just I never count it unless I am dressed for exercise and start the walk with the intent to call it exercise. But I walk everywhere! So I feel good anyway :)

You made it more then half way!  We still have June Laughing

HAHA  OH Fay, walking is WAY to easy for you.  Tongue out

Oh so yesterday I ended up having to go to Urgent care... They gave me 3 Liters of IV... I'm so sore it's like I was hit by a truck.  They gave me some extra strong medication for this Giardia and said that I just got really dehydrated.  OI.

Anyway Everyone make sure the be drinking your water as you walk and lets all try to drink 8 ounces after any long walk.
