| Weight Loss | hitting a plateau | May 12 2008 13:15 (UTC) |

I've hit 2 since I started my diet, and they drove me insane. It was like no matter what I did I couldn't get past them. What I do is kind of the opposite of what lovelybecca suggested, because increasing my calorie intake every other day just made me gain weight. Instead I cut my cal intake by about 200 cals and drink a lot of water this is usually during the weekend when I usually wake up about 12:30ish anyway. I usually lose about 1lb this way, but it gets me past my plateau and I start my normal diet right after. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it's a trial and error method I've worked at to get past my plateaus. |

| Young Calorie Counters | looking for a weight loss buddy similar to my stats... | May 12 2008 12:47 (UTC) |

So if I have what is considered a small frame it wouldn't be unhealthy for me to aim towards the low end of my healthy BMI. I'm 5'5 at 125 and am aiming for 117lb's. Is this ok or should I aim for 120? |

| Young Calorie Counters | do your parents eat like you? | May 12 2008 12:40 (UTC) |

Actually my mom is the one who taught me how to eat healthy. My whole family has been trying to lose weight, but not all of them eat the healthy food they need to lose the weight. But my mom does do the grocery shopping and she keeps healthy food on hand for anyone who wants to start eating better. She always keeps the fridge stocked with fruit, just for me. |

8 more pounds to go and I will be at my goal weight. It's about time to, I have hit so many plateaus, I was wondering if I was ever going to reach my goal. |

| I'm not sure about your calorie intake because I have the same problem. I exercise and eat right (minus a reward every 5-6lb loss) but I fall short of what my calorie intake should be. I do however have some advice about your pooch. You say you drink plenty of water, but might I suggest (if you are not already) drinking distilled water. I was told it has less sodium than other purified drinking water and sodium might prove to be the culprit behind you not being able to get the abs you want. | |||
| New Members | I don't want one, but do I need one?? Scale?? | Jan 04 2008 17:00 (UTC) |

| It's good to have one just for reference, but sometimes a scale makes you too self-conscious. A couple of years ago, I was exercising all the time trying to lose weight, but I got to a certain point where I wasn't losing any more weight. Instead I was gaining it in muscle, and at first I didn't realize this and I started working out more, but then I started to gain more. So if you feel you have to weigh yourself I reccomend once every two weeks like you did before, but for the rest of the time just go by how your clothes fit its more reliable. | |||

| I can relate. I have diabetes, but luckily I'm not on insulin (yet). I still have trouble losing weight though, because everytime I start to get into a good workout I get sick, so I have to do a couple of mini exercises throughout the day. Plus, even when I'm doing my mini exercises, sometimes I have to stop, rest and eat something because my sugar gets too low. I think you will find this web site helpful, I do, because it helps keep track of what I'm eating and I can figure out what foods I need to avoid and it shows a lot of different exercises that don't put too much stress on the body, so you can do them without getting sick. Good luck on your weight loss! | |||

I weigh in the morning as well, but I always go to the bathroom before I weigh to get rid of some of the water weight so I can get a more accurate weigh in. If you only gained about 3lbs over the holidays I'd say you did pretty well. I usually gain anywhere from 5-10lbs, but I've already lost most of my holiday weight so if I were you I wouldn't worry too much about it. |
