| I have had good luck using a product called greased lightning. It is a spray surface cleaner...like 409. I just spray the stain then put the item into the washer with everything else. | |||

It's a good start. We are seeing more and more 'normal' women in the media. We still have a long way to go. Since my surgery last month I have been out of work for a while and have started watching some daytime TV. Look at Tyra Banks, she is a big woman. Not pllus size I don't think...but she weighs in the 170s I am thinking...nothing like the sticks...And Oprah did a segment on Loving yourself Naked. That Queer Eye for the Straight Guy takes women on a journey of self love by getting them to look at themselves naked-or close to it. We are bombarded with these images all day long of smooth silky bodies so that when we look at our kind of lumpy bodies we are appalled with ourselves. We need to love our bodies...look at what they do for us... I don't know if I am more accepting of myself after looking at the Dove pictures...but I am more accepting of that company and their product. I saw an advertisement for a spa once that had an overweight woman getting a massage. That was the first time I had ever seen that. Usually spas use this svelte woman on the table getting the massage. When I saw that picture I though to myself hmmm, I think I'll have a massage... |

Original Post by stellajo: I agree with stellajo, I want my calories to count for something...I get more satisfaction from eating healthier choices...sometimes I want the big nasty burger, but if I eat it I end up feeling physically ill... |

1/4 of an avacodo mashed and spread on a low fat, low carb, tortilla-a few tablespoons of lemon pepper flavored tuna. I do the pickle juice thing too. |

Hey, this is a tough one. I don't really have any good advice, just a pat on the back...and to send some good energy your way. Maybe you and the man of your dreams could plan some activities that don'e include eating...biking or a walking tour of your city or town. Just a thought. You know, baby steps kind of stuff... Good luck...I remember my dating days before I married the man of my dreams. We could eat a large pizza in one sitting. And he seemed proud of me that I would eat like that. Now 25 years later I need to lose about 75 pounds... |

Oatmeal...pretty cheap stuff. The big box with the quaker guy on it. The instant stuff is more expensive. Just mix in some water and splenda, cinnamon, a dash of salt, a little frozen fruit, or an apple or banana chopped up. Maybe a dollop of applesauce. Put in the microwave for for a few minutes, until it is the consistancy you like. Oatmeal will stick with you for a while.

Thanks Beth, it really helps to hear about people who have had the surgery. I keep thinking about all the 70 year olds and older who have it done. They do ok...I'll do ok... Wow, you lost thirty pounds from September to now? That is inspiring! |

Hi Beaverly, I am 49 and am probably in the middle of menopause. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago...but I do have some of the other signs...mostly the mental fog...I seem to be sleeping well though. Thank the stars for that favor...there is nothing worse that not being able to sleep, in my opinion. My weight is around the 220 mark and I am 5'7". I could stand to lose probably 80 pounds...but I cannot even get my mind around that number right now. I will work on the first twenty then see how things go after that. I go to weight watchers meetings and it has been helping me to be motivated. I am doing alright with WW. With the painful knees I know exercising is difficult. If you can stand it walking is a good one to start out with. Of course if you are able to get to a pool that is the best knee saving exercise there is I think. My knees are shot, I will have a replacement in a couple of weeks. I walked 2 miles (slowly) this morning and it just about did me in. My knee was hollering out in pain!! Good luck and I will check in on you! mary |

Take a nice fish fillet, rinse and pat dry. Put in a pan that has been sprayed with pam or a little olive oil. Spray the fillet with some Pam & sprinkle with Mrs. Dash, a squeeze of lemon, lay a few chopped green onions and tomatoes over the top. Bake in the oven (350)-- or microwave-- until the fish flakes when you stick a fork into the thickest part. Just keep checking it, depending on the size of the fillet is how long it needs to cook. Try whiting or perch first because they are less expensive. Once you have the cooking of it figured out buy some nice flounder. Flounder is a very good baked fish. You could also use Old Bay seasoning. Or any other seasoning that catches your fancy. You will make mistakes, but you will learn from them. Just keep trying til you find some recipes you like. |

| My favorite oatmeal add in is frozen blueberries. Just dump them in and sprinkle some more splenda on top of the berries. Sometimes I put in strawberries or peaches, but blueberries are my favorite. You can get them in the freezer section where the pie shells and cool whip are. | |||
