| Weight Loss | Has Counting Calories been Fun? | Mar 19 2008 16:09 (UTC) |

I don't know if its fun. I agree it can be mind consuming but in a good way. It is really a habit now, so I whenever I eat, I like knowing how many calories are in it. but if i cant find out then i assume and dont really sweat it. dont let it consume you and become a obsession. |

Remember that it is is your body not his. Don't let him pressure you to eat foods that you dont want. Its a form of peer pressure that you shouldn't have to give into. If you really want to eat with him though, there are healthy or lower calories alternatives to things like ice cream. a 1/2 cup of Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream is only 100 calories and they have a lot of different flavors that taste the same as the high calorie ice creams like ben & jerry. or you can find 40 calorie popsicles. What I do is leave the room when food like that are around. So when he wants to eat that stuff. Go to your room or somewhere else and try reading or watching tv or something to get your mind off of the fact that there is food in the other room that will make you feel bad later. |

I also have a insulin pump. Make sure your basal's are right and that your sugars are normal, that is the most important thing. Log your sugars for a week just for yourself and you will see a pattern on if you are low a certain time or high at a certain time, then you can change your basal. for the overeating, make sure you are bolusing and not letting your sugars get high. but also using a lot of insulin isnt good for losing weight as it is a hormone. maybe your overeating is caused by you using more insulin then you need, insulin makes you feel like you need to eat and makes you feel hungry if you use too much. if you see a endocrinologist they can refer you to a dietician that specializes in food and diabetes, every department of endochronology i have been to has a dietician they use. if you have any other questions just message me and ill help you out. having diabetes makes it hard to lose weight but not impossible. |

| Fitness | I am having the same problem at the gym, what do you guys think? | Mar 11 2008 21:19 (UTC) |

get a mp3 player/ipod blast music and go into your own little world. the gym should be about your time and you deserve to be there just as much as any one else does. I find that its a good "me" time where I can focus on myself. My advice would be blast your favorite music, music that makes you really happy, and just zone out and focus on your workout and no one else. good luck |

I am going to talk to my doctor about this when i see her this week and get my levels tested out. I hope this isnt true cause if all those foods have soy in them then I eat soy a lot. I have a glass of soy milk at least one or 2 times a day. this worries me. |

| how long have you been trying to change the way you eat? I know that it takes 21 days to kick a habit. If you eat those fatty foods every once in a while its okay, so you dont have to take them out all together. For chips try Quaker Rice Snacks they have flavors like BBQ, Ranch, Sour Cream and Onion, Cheddar Cheese, and White Cheese. They also have sweet ones too. There are a lot of 100 calorie packets that are portioned out for you that might help you a lot. Also try cutting things into little pieces and taking your time while eating it and try to make it a goal to drink a whole water bottle or 2 when you are snacking, it takes away your hunger. Almonds also take away hunger and are good for you. There are a lot of alternatives to junky food that can make you binge easily. Good luck! |

| I dont really have any advice but I do that too, I can easily eat 3,500 calories in a day. which is what i did yesterday. it just adds on to the anxiety problem i already have. the only advice i can give is fill your house with healthy food. and when you snack try snacking on healthy things like celery. also if you eat food that have hot sauce in them i find that they keep you full for longer. try making yourself busy with things so you dont think about eating. when I have nothing to do all i can do is think about food which is horrible. thats the best advice i have, just know that you arent the only one that binge eats there are a lot of people and i am one of them. | |||

I am the exact same but for me I just have to have peanut butter once a day and it has to be jif. Peanut butter has fat that is pretty good for you, reduced fat doesnt have lower calories so i would stick to the regular peanut butter you eat. As for jelly, smuckers makes low sugar (not sugar free) jelly, preserves that taste the exact same as regular full sugared. And I suggest eating it on whole wheat bread, i actually find that pb taste a tons time better on wheat rather then white bread. Keep eating it everyday, I see nothing wrong with it. |

just cut any fruit or veggys into little little pieces and just take your time eating it, you will enjoy it more. or almonds take me a long time to eat. and make it a goal to drink a full bottle of water while you are snacking on something, it will make you full and take away snacking. |

you can also you flatout whole wheat breads that are 100 calories eat and taste so good. Then you put olive oil, low fat cheese, and anytthing else you like. I personally like mushroom, onions, large slices of tomatoes, and black olives. I put it in a toaster oven fro about 10 to 15 minutes in 350 degrees. very easy and quick and good. |

| I make a marinade in another bowl. SO you can put whatever spices you want or sauces then put a little bit of Olive Oil and whisk that up then brush it on the chicken then cook it that way i dont over oil the pan and it cooks great and comes out really juicy. so you can try that, I cook it just on the oven top in a skillet. very very easy. | |||

| amzlyn i recommend magic bullet. I have one and I make a smoothie of some sort every morning. its easier to clean up then a blender too and its little cups so you dont have to keep washing one blender cup thing. its a great investment so you can make your avacado shake all you want. | |||
