Hi!

I work out to improve my physical fitness.  It is not completely centered around weight (although that is a great bonus!) but also to have more energy.  I find if I go a few days without running I notice a dramatic energy decrease.  Also, the health benefits are amazing.  Lowering my risk of diabetes, heart disease etc.  and they are only finding more and more about the benefits of physical activity.

P.S. Setting goals and achieving them sure feels good too!..completing my first 10K felt great!

Hi everyone.  I hope you all had a productive day.

Thats a great idea smmca about the low cal frozen pizza, I'll have to try that, pizza is definitely one of my weaknesses!  I'll look for them the next time I go grocery shopping.  I also struggle with water, I hardly ever drink a glass during the day and only take sips when working out.  I really need to try and drink more.  Maybe that will be my goal this week to substitute one of my daily diet pepsi's for water.  Sorry I have no tips for staying on track on the weekends since I seem to eat more junk and forget to log sometimes too.  I try to plan a fun family activity that will get us all exericse and that way it still seems like a break but I'm getting a workout.  We usually downhill ski but sledding is also a good idea in the winter and gives you lots of exercise when walking back up the hill.  Other ideas could be walking together as a family, going swimming etc.

Started my training today and did pretty good, hoping I'm not too sore to continue tomorrow!

Okay, so is this the permenant thread now?

Thanks for clarifying that for me smmca, that sounds more logical.  Good job with the elliptical every day, 2 lbs is a great start! Welcome Allison, good luck with meeting your goal.  I love the exercise ball and found it really worked for me. I didn't do very well today staying within my calorie limit.  I went about 600kcal over thanks to my addiction to pizza.  I got a workout at home in today but nothing major, just 30 minutes of rope jumping/crunches/exercise ball etc.  Tomorrow I will start training for my 10K.  Wish me luck!

I think it's open to everyone Maria, but you'll have to check with Paige since she started it.  We're just here to encourage each other and be accountable in hopes that we'll stick to our goals.

Hi All,

hope you are all having a good day today.  I plan to start my trianing for my 10K run on Monday.  My hopes is to accomplish this by the end of April.  This is the schedule I will be following if anyone is interested:  http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_4/138.s html

I really need to get back into shape, I ran 3.5 miles on Thursday and had to take yesturday off because I was sore.  Good job Paige trying to talk to your dad in doing the run with you, it should help bring down his blood pressure and really improve his health!  Just make sure he starts off slow and doesn't do too much at first.  Has he agreed to it yet?  I was able to get both my father in law and my husband to agree to trian with me for the run.

I took my little girl skiing today (she'll be three in April).  It was her third time going and she did great but let me tell you it sure was a workout lugging her around on the hill.  I'm more tired then when I go to the gym for 2 hours!

Sorry this is so long butI have one more question about the burn meter.  What is the difference between the estimate number and bottom number.  For instance, if my estimate says 3160 and the bottom number says 2466 does this mean I've burned an estimated 3160 calories and I can eat more than my normal calorie limit for the day.  2466 calories seems like a lot over my daily goal (1700) even if I'm being active.  Can anyone clarify this for me??

I would also love to join if the offer is still there!  My name is Lynette and I am 22.  I have been able to lose 20 lbs in the past year and just need a little help for that final 10lbs.  I have a 2 year old and after having her I started having trouble losing the baby weight.  I am a very active person who downhill skis, swims, and plays softball, I also love going to the gym and have a goal of running 10K by the summer.  I have ran a few 5K's in the past and would like to step it up a bit.  My long term goal a half marathon but I have a long way to go.  Time is one of my problems as I am in university and very busy.  Also, diet is a major weakness.  I love fast food and treats and really need to work on staying within my calorie limits.  Just let me know if I can join you guys and how it works:)
