the thing is, i do excercise. i actually never stopped during my recovery.. i'm a runner and i was on the crosscountry team at the highschool i was at, and i started track, but got injured so wasn't able to run for 2 1/2 months. but i started running again 3 weeks ago and i have to start back slowly.. and i've been lifting weights too. i don't drink soda, and desert is still something i haven't gotten over my fear of. lately i havent been eating too little, i've probably been eating too much :/ and i try to run 4 times a week for now then i'll be upping it to 5-6. thanks for all the replies. ugh, i wish this could just be easier.

Young Calorie Counters "guys dig curves" garbage Jun 02 2008

i personally agree that guys DO like curves.

when i was 83 pounds, the guy i was dating would like never touch me. even when i started recovering, no one would look twice at me and if they did it was to say "you need to eat something!"

now, i don't know how much i weigh, but i look HEALTHY and i have HEALTHY curves, and my ex (not the one i was dating during my eating disorder) but my first boyfriend, is talking to me again. and today, i was walking home from our community pool and about four or five guys blew their horns at me.

but for SOME reason, i and most girls still want to be thinner. whyy??

Peanut butter! My mom has just caught on to the fact that it's dangerous for me if we have some in the house, I'll almost always binge on it.  She'll buy a big jar of Jif one day, and the next day it'll be gone.

Glad to see I'm not the only one! The good thing though, is that I'm scared to eat the "unnatural" stuff and I'm the only person in my house that will pay for natural pb, haha. So I decided to just stop buying it for a while!! But it's SOO good ;]

Health & Support BAD week. need help. May 19 2008

Update...

I was at my breakfast and I honestly don't think I've ever felt that out of place. Everyone was eating pancakes and sausage and bacon and eggs, etc. And I was eating a plate of fruit and drinking water. It was terrible. I definitely got some looks but whatever.

Then afterwards, before our graduation rehearsal my friend asked me to go to starbucks and so I figured, what the heck?? why not? So I did and got a soy green tea latte. And I just didn't care.

And theeen, after rehearsal, my friend and I went to this vegan cafe for lunch, I had tofu chili and hummus and veggies and I feel so great! Now I'm gonna go work out (not to get rid of the food, but because I want to) and I'm gonna run with my cousin later this afternoon!

So thank you Lindsey and everyone. I know this is gonna be a long battle, but we can and will get through it! :]

Aw, you are such an inspiration. Both of you!! That REALLY helped. I just decided this morning that I'm going to just take it slow, try not to look in mirrors (even though there's like 4 full body mirrors just in the front of our house), and appreciate the body God gave me and take care of it, not just by eating enough but by not eating too much.

Now I'm about to go to my senior breakfast and I'm not going to let the food  OR the fact that I'm eating around like 800 people intimidate me! :]

Stay strong and be healthy!! :]

Ughhhh I know. I know I'm not "huge".. I just hate not fitting into my clothes. And I hate how tight everything is. I hate this whole thing.

I've done really well today as far as not eating too much or too little.

I ended up stuck going to lunch with my grandparents after church but luckily they found a vegetarian cafe so i felt kind of safe. I got a tabbolueh (sp?) salad and ate about half of it.. I would have eaten more if I hadn't filled up on 8 glasses of water!!! hah! But I feel pretty good today. I haven't had any urges to "binge" or restrict so I think I'm doin okayy!!! I just have to keep this up every day!

I'm glad to hear you're doin well babe! Love you!

Thank you Lindseyyy.

I needed that!
But the thing is, even though I haven't been counting, for the past week I've probably been "replinishing" with 4-5 thousand cals a day. And I KNOW this is unhealthy. This morning was SO bad. Not with food, but I was getting ready to go to church and NOTHING fits anymore. My aunt just gave me size 2 lucky jeans, and I could barely button them. Im so frustrated. I just want my body back. The one I had before my ed. The toned healthy body I had and could eat what I wanted and just not worry about it. Before food became an obsession. I don't want to restrict, I just want to either lose or tone up again, healthily. Because right now I DO NOT look healthy. I look huge.

Thank you though, You are amazing and I don't know what I'd do without you.

I hope you're following your own advice too missy! ;]

I don't know for sure either, but I just wanted to say I'm in a similar situation!  I've been "out" of running for about 3 weeks now, due to serious foot/heel/ankle issues (it's happened before, and the doctor was no help whatsoever...so I don't really know WHAT it is, but it's no fun!)...  Anyway, I was doing 5 miles 2x/week, 3 miles one day, and a long run on one day (my last one was 11 miles), sooo... I know what you mean!  I've been feeling better though and it hardly hurts so I think tomorrow I'm going to try out the treadmill again.  I'm so excited!  Good luck!

Also: have you been doing other cardio during the time you weren't running?  Because if you were, then you could probably easily get back to at like 6 miles or so, then increase back to 8+ over a couple of days... If not, I'd go for about 4, or so?  But then again, that's just complete guessing; someone else might know much better...  :)

No, i haven't been doing anything because the doctor said not to.. I was actually in a cast for about a month =/ Buuuut, today when I went she said I could start today brisk walking with random bursts of about a minute or so of running. Well.. that didn't go over so well with me haha. So when I got home I decided to just see how far I could go running and I actually went for 20 minutes straight.. I could have gone further but I didn't want to risk another injury.

As far as your situation.. I'm no doctor, but I would recomment not doing to much if you were injured. Take it slow and allow time for it to heal or you'll regret it! Haha, I know if I hurt myself again I would DEFINITELY regret pushing too hard. ;]

Haha, Lindsey you are A-mazing. haha.

I literally laughed out loud at your soynut butter sandwich comment. hah.
Ughh I don't know. The thing is this whole stomach problem has been going on for a week and a half now (with the exception of a couple days) and I don't want it to effect me. And I realllly want to feel better so I can run on Thursday when the doctor tells me my leg is healed ;] I'm drinking water like crazy. But I'm out of like everything except cereal, veggies and veggie burgers and soymilk. :/

I'll try to eat something before I go to bed but I just have like NO appetite and I don't really see the point if it's just gonna go right through me. :[

And another thing that really sucks is I haven't been able to excercise in like a week! I just feel SOO gross right now.

So the problem went away around Thursday.

And then came back Sunday morning...

Ughh. it really sucks.
And I've been trying really hard, but for the past couple days (until today) I wasn't doing so good number wise. Like I got around 1000-1200 ish Sunday and Monday.

Today the burn meter said I burned 1780... So I pushed really hard and got 2000.

The problem.. Most of it went right through me. Another problem? My head is pounding. Like, its one of those headaches you get when you haven't eaten. But I'm kinda afraid to eat anymore because I really don't need to gain anymore weight. But I don't want to lose either. Ugh, I don't know if this makes any sense. But I'm just really frustrated. And it's so late I don't think I could eat anything else anyway.

I guess my main question is.. What is this gonna do to my body??? I mean if I'm losing most of the food I eat is it gonna effect my metabolism or anything??

And what do I do about the headache???

Original Post by soccerj18:

thanks for the quick replies everyone! I guess I just got fast so quickly, I'm afraid of losing that speed and becoming slow like I was at the beginning of last year, and I haven't had a day where I haven't run since January...it feels weird, lol. Anyway, kelzo, I had stress fractures last year too. Aren't they the worst?

Theyy are! And it's not even the pain that't bad. It's not being able to run!!! I still have three more weeks before I can run again, and they JUST let me start biking two days ago... That's how I felt about not having gone a day without running.. I hadn't gone more than two days without running in about a year and the first week was absolutely TERRIBLE! hahah. Well, I don't really know what you can do strength wise to help your shoulder, but to keep your endurance while not running, the recumbent bike is a great idea!

Okay so I totally know how you feel, not with the shoulder thing but I hurt my leg a couple months ago, (stress fracture caused from runnin with shin splints) ... My advice, take the couple days off. Your coach is RIGHT, if you're injured why run and hurt yourself more?? I'm a cross country/track runner too and one week before my first track meet I had shin splints and thought I should just keep running anyway so I didn't lose momentum, and guesss what happened?! STRESS FRACTURE; out for the whole season. I didnt even get to run in the first race. And since running is like 3/4 of my life, it crushed me. So take it from me, dont make your injury worse. If you're hurt, take a break and let it heal!! =)

Hope it gets better hun!

Lindsey, First of all, I LOVE YOU.

Okay. Now, I know exactly what you're going through. I know it's hard to stay positive, and that's what you have us for.. To vent those negative feelings and get them off your chest. You don't have to "act" positive all the time. It's okayyy! You're such an amazing person and I have so much faith in you! Over the past couple of months youve become like a sister to me and you've gotten me through SO much. You can get through this! We all can and we WILL!

You're BEAUTIFUL. Stay STRONG!

W-O-W.

Funkymunky... Your post was SO inspirational.
Seriously.
These past couple of weeks have been SO hard for me, but when I woke up this morning I decided that today was gonna be my "new day" I was gonna start fresh, and I did, and I made maitenance!!! I KNOW I can do this, we all can, we just have to believe in ourselves.

I don't know where I would be right now without this website.. This community is absolutely amazing and being able to talk to people who know what I'm going through helps more than words could possibly explain!

We ARE going to get through this. For the first time, I truly believe that one day I will be fully mentally recovered from this. God is SO great people, he's so much bigger than this disorder and anything else we face. Lets stay strong and hang in there!
