Thank you Randy for your positive attitude. It is refreshing as others have said. I am a bit concerned however, when I hear the length of self-criticism other posters have for their bodies. Perfection is unattainable! Focus on the areas you like about your body, your mind, your soul and your attitude. Constantly seeking "perfection" will only set you up to be continually disapointed and let down. There was only one perfect human--he died so I could live.

| This post is hilarious---glad I am not alone!
--When you mentally assess the calorie count of the other people you are dining w/'s plates and think "I wonder if she realizes she's eating 3000 calories, how come I can't eat 3000 calories in one sitting?" Thus starting a food battle in your own head... --When both produce drawers of your fridge are so full you have to commandeer a shelf for the rest of your fruits and veggies--AND you actually eat all of them --When you haven't eaten canned veggies in months because fresh are so much better --When almond milk tastes better than regular ever did! --When finding a tasty "diet" cereal for less than 130 cal for 1 cup is a serious "moment" for you to remember. --When you are late for work but logging your bkfst on CC is actually worth being tardy for... |

Hey fellow ranters and dear Molly, It's been a LONG time since I posted, though I do lurk a lot! Molly, the past 4 months on this website have literally changed my body and my life and I am blessed to know you. I get such a laugh out of your food, cat, bike, dh etc stories. Thank you for being so candid with complete strangers. It helps us all to realize and be reminded that we are not alone in this quest! That being said, I understand the panic attack/anxiety thing all too well. I know you will be back out exercising when your leg heals, but in the interim, just know how many hundreds/thousands of silent and verbal friends you have out there whose lives you have impacted and who respect you tremendously. Thanks for all that you have done. God bless you and be strong sister! Susie |

I just saw something on our local NBC affiliate station about deep dish pizza vs fast food burgers. A small personal pan size deep dish pizza (with pepperoni, sausage etc) was about 1200 calories. They said to go w/ the cheeseburgers at around 300 each. If you eat 3-5 pieces of deep dish you will def be over 1000 calories just for that meal. Can you get a salad and only eat 1 piece?! |

Sarabeth, I have found some of their products at Albertsons (in the diabetic area) and Sprouts Markets. I actually enjoy the caramel dip, chocolate dip and sauce and especially the balsamic dressing. The salad dressing is awesome. Now I tried a few other of their products and gagged, but that balsamic stuff rocks. I think if you go into a Walden Farms experience expecting that it will be just like the real stuff, you will be disgusted but going into it w/ an open mind, you might be pleasantly surprised. Just sayin', Susie |

Wow... I use tems of endearment ALL the time. Without much thought I am afraid. This thread is making me think I should be more concious. I guess because they don't bother me AT ALL, that I assume no one else is bothered! Wrong assumption! But with my husband, it won't ever change!! We call each other all sorts of stuff (and our cat too!) My faves he calls me are: Bunnykins Bunnewski Bun Bun I think its cute and loving. I would bet most other people who use terms like "hon" and "dear" etc mean nothing by it (obviously said in a non-sarcastic tone). I just like to be sweet to people and show that I care? But I may be more concious of it now!! |

Hey Martina--I do enter the food values separately when I cook because the recipe analyzer is even more annoying than the time it takes. Sometimes I add the calories from each thing up on a scratch pad and just put in "Pita Pizza" on the food log w/ "300" calories in the calorie area. That is when I am super lazy. The problem w/ that is that you don't get an accurate nutrient count BUT sometimes, I am tired, lazy etc and I just don't care :)
I hear you guys about Super Bowl parties! Ahhh... I am nervous about the one we are going to because I know the food there won't be part of my new lifestyle choices...So... I think I am going to eat 2 Thomas' lite EM before hand w/ hummus or Laughing cow. Those things sit w/ me like rocks for hours! The only problem is the hosts of the party always want to push food on you and inquire as to why I am not eating! Arrrgh! I am in Scottsdale Arizona off the freeway that leads to the Superbowl and the FBR Open (largest PGA Golf Tournament in the US--on the SAME weekend as the Superbowl) and the traffic is a night mare. I don't even want to leave my house for the next 48+ hours. Wish me luck! Have a great and HEALTHY weekend all, Susie |

Thank You Thank you kind friends. I feel much better. Sometimes just to rant relieves the "freak out!" I do think that scale was communist Molly...I will start bringing my Republican propaganda into the office and secretly indoctrinating it! As for Granimals... my DH was saying "GRRRR" a lot in frustration to avoid using the "f-bomb" and it morphed into saying "GRRRR Animals." Which I thought was hilarious and when I typed it before I thought you all would just think I was nutz... Good to know others know what Granimals ARE! Ladies, I am stressing out today! Ok so I know, know, know that I have lost weight. It falls between 8-10 lbs lost but I don't own a scale and so I just weigh in at my gym. Well this afternoon I got an itching to use the scale at my chiropractors office and OF COURSE it only shows 5 lbs weight loss. Please please tell me that water, food in stomach, time of day or general scale retardation can affect the numbers? Please reassure me that scale fluctuations are normal and that I didn't gain BACK 4 lbs since I weighed on Monday. ( I am eating PERFECT and working out) GRRRRR ANIMALS!!! I am cranky! Where's that murder a scale thread again.... I wonder if it's truly breaking and entering if I seek revenge on a scale that did me wrong...

I quit smoking and lost 65lbs 3 years ago. Then, 2 years ago, I started smoking again and gained BACK 35 lbs. So... in December I quit smoking again and I have lost 10 lbs so far. I think any addiction (food, drugs, alcohol, cigs) is HARD to quit. But if you get yourself into the right attitude about and just DO IT. It can be done. For my health, I have to do both at the same time. Everyone in my office smokes and so I am around it but it's worth it to know I will be healthier for doing so! :) |

Hey Tricia, I travel at least 1x/mo to Kansas City for business and here's what I do. (Having a microwave/fridge in your room helps a LOT, but some hotels w/ store foods that need a refridge for you) I bring along: Fiber One bars, Apples, Bananas, oatmeal packets, 100 cal snack packs, zero cal salad dressing packets, pb/j sandwiches etc. Transportable foods combined w/ room service ie: salads or steamed veggies and plain (non-buttery) protiens can make great options for you! For bkfst I just order skim milk and fruit from room service w/ an extra bowl and I make my oatmeal in the room. For snacks I bring the apples/bananas or fiber one bars to my meetings vs food that are offered at work functions. For dinner I order salads w/ protein made w/o butter or oil, lots of fresh veggies, w/o cheese and I add my own dressing.
Good LUCK! Susie |

Great comments everyone about the insensitive "clods" as Chris put it! (Love that word!) I look at it like this--I want to be 175 lbs. For now. Maybe for ever. I don't know. All I do know is that I cannot recall a time in my adult life (11 years:) that I have weighed 175, so 175 is my goal--and when I reach it, I will be healthier and happier and thinner and buffer and sexier...etc! FOR ME! Not for society, not for the d*mn BMI meter, not for the media's thin obsession. Just for my health. So when I get to 175 and I keep it off...THEN and only then, will I even contemplate losing more. I truly wish that people wouldn't judge and force their ideal weight thoughts, perceptions ETC on the rest of us who are chugging along our merry radish-filled weigh...:) I love this thread. It is exhilirating! AHHH.....ST :) |

Congrats Molly on #75! What a marvelous accomplishment! I made it thru the symphony on Friday night and my event all day yesterday w/ flying colors! And I hiked a mountain for 3 miles today! Woo Hoo! There were radishes at the symphony, so I ate a handful! They were yum-o! I am going to pick some up tomorrow--and keep them away from the kitty! My only rant is this: I was telling a good friend about the endoscopy I had last week because of my acid reflux and she says "Well don't you think it would go away if you lost weight." And I said "Uhh...I have had it since I was 12 years old, 60lbs heavier than now and 30 lbs lighter, weight doesn't seem to make a difference." I know she wasn't trying to be rude, but 5 min prior I had just told her I have lost 10lbs in 5 weeks and not cheated once. What happened to thoughtful comments or not commenting at all? Maybe I am being over sensitive but sheesh....I hate it when micro-people give weight loss advice!! (Or med advice for that matter) Happy Sunday, Susie |

Why oh why does a healthy lifestyle/eating/exercise take sooo much more effort that being a slug? :) Example: Tonight I have to entertain clients at the Phoenix Symphony. We have a hospitality suite before hand w/ fancy schmany appetizers and drinks. Then the symphony is at 8 PM. I have to go home early to change, inhale something good for me and then drive down to downtown Phx to get there by 6. SOMEHOW I have to avoid eating and drinking at the suite and stave off hunger pangs until after it's all over. (I am bringing a snack that I can sneak a nibble or 2 of) But what inevitably happens is people ask me (sometimes repeatedly) why I am not eating and try to force food on me! How rude! I wouldn't do that to anyone so WHY do people think not eating at a social event is a mortal sin? Example 2: Tomorrow I have to man a booth at the Women's Small Business Entreprenuer Boot camp in Scottsdale from 6:45 AM til 6 PM. There are breakfasts, lunches and cocktails/apps at this thing and I am going to have to pack a bunch of my own food because it is not healthy! (I am thinking of your upcoming trip to Michigan Molly) So annoying! Whew. I feel better. I just wish our society would embrace a change towards healthier eating and I wouldn't feel like a brown bagging outcast... :) Happy Friday, Susie |

This is a great thread--keep up the awesome work everyone!! Today I planned my evening meal and snacks ahead of time (for once!) so that tonight at the symphony (work function), I will already be full and not be tempted to indulge in wine and calorie/fat laden appetizers! I will bring a fiber one bar to snack on at the intermission of the symphony and not succumb to the powers of junk food! WOO HOO!!! Whew. I wish it wasn't so much harder to eat healthier in America vs. eating crap. (IE: all the planning, the price and the availibility!) Cheers to Friday! |

OK Sister you freaking ROCK the house. In case no one else has told you that today!!! I am soooo proud of you. (Isn't it odd, being proud of a "stranger?") Anyhow, I was thinking about you at the gym today because of your slowing weight loss comments this week and I think that if you were to walk on the treadmill holding cans of soup (or small 3-5lb dumb bells) on an incline and gradually increase that over the next few months, that would probably keep your weight loss just as fast. I notice that when I "mix it up" a bit, that everything stays steady. (which might just be an oxymoron!!!) Just a thought. I am a banker though, not a trainer or nutrionist. Just good w/ $$. :) Have a delightful day--off to eat my pita pizza. Which is YUM-O btw. Susie :) |

Good afternoon Fellow Ranters: Just came home from my business trip to Kansas City and for the first time in YEARS, I did not cheat ONCE on my calories! I brought my own stock of foods (oatmeal, Walden farms salad dressing, fabby Fiber One Bars and fruit) and then ordered everything w/o butter, w/ extra veggies, egg whites etc! I wasn't able to exercise, but I still think I lost a lb when I was gone!!! My rant however relates to my airplane experience: Of course I am seated between 500 lb stinky guy (literally) and arrogant guy who refused to hand me my bag from the compartment above during flight because he wasn't "in the mood." Yikes. So I sat like a sardine squished and reminded myself that I am losing weight and on this trek so that no one ever is annoyed to sit next to ME on a plane!!!! Ahhh my aching back, Susie :) Glad to be back in Sunny AZ |

Good Luck Ms. Molly! I know you will get that last fraction of a lb off before the weigh in!!! I tried on 2 pairs of jeans tonight that were tight in October when I wore them on my wonderful trip to NYC and (drumroll please!!!) today they fit perfectly!! I think I have lost 7 lbs but I don't own a scale so I will have to do it Monday at the gym!! My rant/fear for tonight though: I have to go to a rubber chicken banquet luncheon on Tuesday (no control of ingredients /menu) then get on a plane to Kansas City until Thursday morning and I am freaking!!! Ever since I started paying such close attention to ingredients and reading sooo much about sodium, trans fats etc that restaurants have in foods, I am so worried. I need to be talked off the ledge because I don't want to fall off the wagon thinking "I can't control it anyhow so might as well have the fries/dessert etc!!" Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!! The rain is heading my way next Molly (Arizona) so the DH and Nancy the Cat and I are battening down the hatches!! Susie :) :) :) |
