0) I like the 'I turn eighteen in'... Rather than 'I'm 17'. Adulthood is calling.

So yes, I am seventeen.

1) 112ish I think. I dont really weigh myself very often, besides the family scales are on the unreliable side.

2) 5' 3" JUST... 160.something cm. so a little less. But I call it 5' 3", as I am assuming very few people are EXACTLY x feet and x inches.

3) I have had breakfast lunch and snacks so far...not necessarilly in that order.

oats and cornflakes cooked with water (milk is not a friend of mine.)

a packet of chewits

four, count 'em FOUR digestive biscuits & four. FOUR. carrots.

clearly I like quartets.

homemade vegetable stew type fandango, with tomatoes, spinach, carrots and apple.

some cucumber and celery.

4) a piddling few weights

    8 minutes of running

    15 minutes elliptical

    20 minutes stationary bike

30 minutes walking with an incline...so I could have a chat with a friend.

5) non. If I lose I am too thin.

I know this through experience, and I wish everyone would realise weight is subject to so many variables....the number on the scale is reflective of very little.

6) yes I am.

7) this question is null and void.

This is a good idea. Being 17 or older means having more adults weights and stuff...

oink420....birth control is the gravel of hell. Seriously.

The bloating, the insanity, the sore boobies....I did the same thing as you and just threw in the birth control towel after a couple of months because I decided it wasnt worth it.

Your body sorts its self out quickly though, so itll all be good soon enough.

I went to a gyno today.

She prodded and pocked all my indecent parts....

It was traumatic :)

but she says its just my weight thats the problem as far as she can see, even though I am only just under weight, it isnt enough for my body.

Which I knew.

But she didnt give me any orders, just referred me for a blood test (I cannot STAND syringe needles)  and a bone density scan (which I think sounds SNAZZY, if worrying).

Couldnt get to the gym today and I feel SO guilty, but I suppose that is a good reason to keep it as a day off. I shouldnt feel guilty.

I am psyching myself up to gaining here...

I WILL DO IT. Honest.

Blah.

I am just so used to this body....no one even comments on my skinnines...I mean,  I know thats a ridiculous thing to say, but...

Anyway gyno wanted to refer me to a psych....I really dont know...

I get to take some lovely hormone pills for 5 days now to 'bring on a bleed'

what fun!

and yoon, I envy you! That must be the greatest possible feeling. a right good milestone like ^^

meal plan!

you may NEED 3,000 odd calories to gain, especially if your metabolism fires up as manys do in recovery.

Unhealthy things can be enjoyed in moderation...

binges HAPPEN in recovery. Your body is starved...as soon as you feed it it screams for more because it is scared more famine is coming...

You have to teach it a somewhat normal eating pattern.

Bodies are good at recovering, dont worry, it'll take time.

GOOD LUCK

argh!

13-15?

Unless you are OVERWEIGHT or have been advised by a professional, you dont need to diet.

You don't need to count calories.

You will more than likely stretch...so 'maintenance' would be relative.

It's all very well having a  thread to compare, but remember everyone is different and what is normal for one person isnt necessarily for everyone else.

I mean, I know you have heard it all before but I'm not trying to patronise you. Most of you seem perfectly healthy, which is great, but a few of you need to rethink....

Being obsessive aint no picnic.

arrrr

coldthindream, you are bloody brave. And awesome for it, obviously.

I 'overate' on saturday....2200cals and most of it was rum anyway....but I cant help dropping from the 1500 I had managed to coax myself in to upping to just to 'make up for it'. I have to make up 900 calories apparently, because I can omly have 1300 without exercise.

Actually typing out what the mean old ED voice says is strange.

I went to the doctors on friday, according to her scale I am 0.5kg heavier than about five weeks ago, so the same essentially.

I was almost disappointed.

I have an appointment with the Gyno tomorow.

Terrified.

But I dont think she will MAKE me gain either. WHY WONT SOMEONE JUST TELL ME I HAVE TO.

I suppose I am meant to be a heavy person, I lost my period pretty early on in my weightloss....and I think I have probably stunted my growth a little.

Also i have been neglecting work....

This is really irritating, I'm not in the throws of a serious ED; I will never let myself get there again...but it is nipping at my heels, vaguely disrupting everything.

Sorry for the moan...

technically 105lb or 110 ish is the lowest healthy weight for your (our) height, on a BMI chart that is....

Really you cant tell from person to person though.

When you are healthy, menstruating normally, have energy .etc

I actually think this thread should be kept, to remind us of the fact that we need to eat enough, and to show new members the same thing.

Clearly some posts will have to be deleted however.

Anyway, I am trying to generally up my calories at the moment as I am starting maintenance.

Generally I am at about 1500 a day, working out four days a week for 45-90 minutes.

1500 I should still lose weight though, so heading for more.

Young Calorie Counters Teens: what did YOU eat today? Mar 09 2008

yesterday was NOT a prime example of how to eat....

But as part of my 'self improvement strategy' (said with clear sarcasm, you understand) I have decided to start posting here...

...I feel allmost creepy silently reading about what you all eat everyday, you unaware of my malevolent presence.

Breakfast- Baked beans (yes, I eat them on their own. With chopsticks, actually :\)

then I went out, so it was all up in the air....

lunch - vegetable and noodle stir-fry

             A pear

             A mini cream egg

     then it gets rather questionable....

     rum and diet fizzy orange

a packet of refreshers chewy sweets

     a milky bar

     more rum and fizzy orange....

three rice cakes and a piece of bread

more rum, with orange squash now because the fizzy orange had run dry.

then I toddled off home and had a a quorn cottage pie with steamed veg.

I am a poor example of a person ^^

p.s. My presence is not really malevolent, I promise.

Weight Loss Upping by 100 calories; Is it really going to make a difference? Mar 07 2008

to be honest i am not sure...

I have heard both opinions. I want to know aswell to be honest.

I suspect everyones different, but being teenagers our bodies should be extra adaptable....

Maybe?

Any gain would be almost imperceptible anyway, so hard to prove apart from in the long term I suppose.

Hello everyone!

I am another lurker....have been reading all your posts for a while, and drawing sneaky support from them; so thanks.

Anyway, I now feel I know you, whilst I am still a stranger myself...

I absolutely relate to what everyone of you says....

Eating disorders are so strange. We all feel so INSANE and out of control and alone, and yet other people are having the exact same nonsensical urges and ridiculous self destructive thoughts as us...

I'm a 17 year old girl, I live in London...doing my A-levels...blahblah

developed anorexia aged about 15...I dont know...can barely remember a time before the self-hate aspect.

I wonder who we would be without having had our eating disorders?

Completely different people, no doubt...

I've been all but recovered for almost a year. I am 5' 3" and my low weight was 41kg full of water. I am a healthy weight, but I recently began restricting (not dangerously, really, but it was the ED reaering its head) I was stressed and had been binging....

I had been really happy over summer, eating anything, then I began binging....

....then at the begining of the year I was under a lot of stress, and like you were all saying, stress is a massive trigger.

Anyway I am 47kg now....just started eating 1500 a day (up from 1000-1300) and exercising about an hour four or five times a week....

I dont know what weight that will result in and to be honest I am terrified once again, but do you know what I thought spontaneously  last night?

What the f*ck is the achievement in  being skinny?

where is the achievement in not eating?

why would I want it to be my only talent?

because it TAKES OVER EVERYTHING.

I mean, you can let those questions, that statement, wash over your brain and go 'yes I KNOW'

but really try and think about it...

...it was like a tiny 30 second epiphany, and POOF. gone.

But it was a start.

Blah.

Sorry about my self involved rambling...

What I mean is, HI, lets be friends ^_^?

vegetables and animals arent the only good for you foods...

Try and find healthy but calorie dense foods, nuts and nut butter for example; I used them to help GAIN weight healthily as they are a good source of natural protien and bloody packed with calories.

Also dried fruits are pretty calorie dense, try and avoid the sugary stuff and they are extremely healthy and energy giving as they are just fruit minus water.

things like muesli/granola bars could help as well, allthough they should be eaten in moderation.

And how about smoothies w/protien powder and peanut butter and bannanas?

Thats a sign of being healthy enough for hair growth .etc

I had the same problem, not as bad, but it is HORRIBLE so i feel for you.

BMI can never be exact...in fact it can be way off, so....hmm....
