GOOOd EEEvening to all, and welcome Soupbones!! I hope everyone had a great day. Tam, I too, like your idea. Along with the blueberries. My favorite. I love them frozen! (my dogs like them that way, too) Hey I had some great news and some not-so-great news today. I tried on a pair of pants this morning and they were TOO BIG!!! Yippppeeee. I was so excited, I almost called in sick...haha. I don't weigh in until friday so I hope there is good news on the scale. Then I got the ugly news. The physical therapist for my ankle told me that my surgeon doesn't want me to ride my horse for another 3 weeks! (This after the PT said I could) grrrr. Oh, okay (she says, dejected). I had fun with him anyway...I just turned him loose in the barn and he followed me around like a puppy. He's so cute. Tried to eat the zipper on my coat. Well, my totals for the day were pretty good except for sodium. Way too high at 2600mg (but the chile I ate was really good). I ended up with 1200 cals, 28g of fat and 20 min walking. I am going to bed early tonight so I will work harder tomorrow. Night-Night skye |

Hey, HB There is NOTHING wrong with eating junkfood! Okay, before everyone starts throwing rocks at me... what I mean is, if you moderate and make it fit into your daily total...watch the fat...watch the sodium...then you should not feel guilty about eating it. I ate some of the best dark chocolate ever, just today. It was soooo good. But I only ate 90 calories worth (16 chips). I still only totalled about 1300 cals and got a B+ for nutrition. Now I don't have to binge because I have allowed myself to have some. It works for me. Have a great night everyone. IttyBitty, I suppose I should have used the word "motivating" instead of energetic. You motivate me! Thanks. Skye |

Thanks, It IS good to be back. I feel that I do better when I have all of you. I didn't lose any weight while I was "away" but I didn't gain anything either. YAAAAY!! I also eat better when I have to write it down. Today I got outside again and walked/jogged for 30 minutes. (she says while dancing!) What a great feeling to be getting closer to normal. I did choose not to take any dogs with me though. If I trip over anything it will have to be my own feet. lol. I also rode my horse for about 30 minutes. IttyBitty, you crack me up! How do you have so much energy? Did someone say brownies? (I am proud of you for only eating half) It is so hard to go parties and be good. BTW Pampered Chef is the best. Keep up the hard work, Forks, you're amazing! Mollymouser, you are my hero! your weight loss is amazing and you are still going strong. Keep motivating us all!! I only had 1400 cals today and got a B for nutrition even though I had leftover chinese noodles for lunch. Obviously my sodium was way up after that. I have been drinking water like a mad woman. I hope that the scale likes me this week. I am motivated. TTFN Going4Gold Skye |

Hi everyone, I have not logged in for a while. I have been trying to cope with work and this bitter cold weather we have had. I have not lost much but I think I am going in the right direction. I threw my scale out the window and took your suggestion Rivergrrl, to just use a tape measure. Thanks for the pep talk. It seems to be working, my pants are looser! lol!! I had Chinese last night, too, Forks. I tried to eat the vegs and some rice but the Tao chicken was too tempting. I had a few pieces. I think the sodium got to me, too. I feel kind of yucky today. But it's Friday and ... I did get outside to walk today YAAAY!!! My ankle is healing and my doctor cleared me to walk. I even ran for a couple of minutes (don't tell) to see if I could. It was Grreat. I can't wait until spring. My motivation is high today. Tomorrow I will post my stats. Have a terrific weekend everyone. skye |

Hey Samantha, I have found that as I get older, I'm 45, it is more about the time. I have run several marathons and a boatload of 10k's. No matter how fast I go if I am not on the road for at least 50 minutes, I don't feel like I got anything out of it. I have to slow down though or I can't get the time in. Vicious cycle. I would venture to say that for weight loss, it is probably more productive to run for a longer time. Keep it up!! Skye |

Hi everyone, Good luck on your finals, Banana!! IttyBitty, You are hilarious! What a great treat for folks at the nursing home to get to hang out with a horse! Aero would love the attention too except that he is WAY too big. He may fit through the door but I don"t think I can teach him to use the bathroom. Oh well. I rode him today for the first time in a real shoe. He was really good and I got a pretty good workout just trotting him around. Okay... I am REALLY struggling to lose any weight here. I have followed the plan, worked out every day on my bike and I can only show about a pound loss in 12 days. Am I doing something wrong? Help.

IttyBitty, Your "baby" is sooo cute!!! My daughter and I both rolled when we noticed that he was standing in the bed of a truck!! Does he sleep in the house? I am going to try to ride Aero for the first time since my surgery. I can finally fit into a boot! Wish me luck. Hey have you ( or anyone ) had trouble adding to their logs? I only ask because I am trying to figure out if it is just my computer or a site issue. I hope you have a great weekend! MA |

Itty Bitty, Thanks, I will check out your pics. My computer is having a minor freakout so I think I will have to shut down and restart. Did you weigh in today? I did and I am VERY discouraged. Only a pound in 10 days! I am not going to give up (she says with limited conviction). I will work out tomorrow. TTFN Mary Anne |

Hey all, here are my stats for the day... Fat - 27.2% (45 grams) Calories=1451 I don't know how much water I drank but I filled my 12 oz. bottle SEVERAL times. I am kind of nervous about weighing in tomorrow. I feel as if I have not been eating enough and my metabolism has shut off!! Maybe it's just fatigue. I had to go back to work today and my kids were awful (I teach 8th grade). Hey does anyone know the numbers for sodium intake off hand? Have a great Friday!! |

2beittybitty, You're so funny!! I will cheer when I am back in a tennis shoe again (next week, yippee!) Thank you, my picture is of my horse when he was 3 days old. He's almost a three-year old now but just as cute! His name is Aerodynamic (Aero for short). Next to my hubby and daughter, he is the BOMB!! Mary Anne

Here's my first report in the New Year 1250 with an A- (peanut butter killed me) Rode trainer for 30 minutes without my ankle boot! Then I sat on my butt for 2 hours getting ready to go back to work (teacher.) Hey, Do we get extra burn credit when it is 8 degrees outside? (tee hee) Mary Anne |

Welcome!! It seems that we, the 40-ish group, are all here together! I will turn 46 in February and I want this weight gone! (I am giving myself until spring.) Kat8burg, I'm sorry to hear about your back. I hope you feel better soon. I had ankle surgery a month ago and I am ready to explode. You just do what you can do in the meantime. I've been riding my bike on the trainer for 30 minutes a day and it is feels pretty good. Get lots of rest and go get 'em in 2008!! Mary Anne |

I am also very confused about the burn meter. I am just not very good at puzzles. Molly's explanations are a good start (thank you!) but I will have to ask again. I've been doing well with intake Breakfast- oatmeal with fruit and a little milk Lunch- peanut butter, 2 slices of whole wheat bread, skim milk and some grapefruit slices Dinner- homemade chile with a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese (it was yummy) and a great salad with romaine, cherry tomato, spinach, cucumber and a splash of fat free Italian Snack- I did splurge and had a piece of peanut butter fudge and a rum (with diet pepsi instead of real coke) This all took me just to my limit, Yay! Hey, I read on another posting that undereating will hinder weight loss, too. I truly believe it but if I ate 1100 good calories today and I am supposed to eat 1700... I rode my bike on the trainer for 30 minutes and did some upper body weights. I feel totally full and it's nearly 10 at night. How do I get those calories (without going to McDonald's, lol!!?) or is it okay to be so far under once in a while? help! |

Hi everyone, I'm Maryanne and new to this. I have about 30 pounds to lose and so far I have managed to keep on a schedule (since Christmas Day). Unfortunately I have to go back to work on 1/2 so it will be harder to fit this in. I have made a "resolution" to focus on exercise and eating better because I just hate the way I feel. I have my bicycle on the trainer for the winter and have been riding 30 minutes a day. I am going to TRY to work out in the morning before work. We'll see.. I am glad you all made it through the holidays with good cheer. Happy New Year!! Maryanne |

Hi There, I am also a runner (though injured at the moment.) I have run several marathons and many other races. I also ran about 50 miles per week for a long time (way too much!) I never worried about slowing metabolism or weight gain. It just couldn't happen. You burn so many calories working for that length of time. I struggled to climb above 11% body fat which is not healthy (oh, I don't have that problem right now, lol!) Don't forget that muscle is pretty heavy, too. I also had issues with stress related injuries. Be careful and have fun. Glad to know there are other running maniacs out there! |

Hey Ohio, I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain, and right before Christmas. I hope that you do not have an A-C separation in your shoulder. It might be a good idea to have it checked. My daughter did it falling off of my horse. It took her lots of physical therapy to get back to being pain free. She could have opted for surgery but wanted to try PT first. Hang in there! I didn't think that a game of golf could be so dangerous (lol.) |

Hi There, I am also new to the forums but I'm looking forward to sharing. You all sound like you are having tons of fun here. Today I weigh 157 and it feels completely yucky. I started this quest on Christmas day and I want to get back to 130 by the end of summer. I felt really good at that weight. I am also trying to overcome some job stress, kid stress and ankle surgery. None of this has helped my motivation (or lack of) but it's time now... I am riding my bicycle on the trainer for cardio and doing some upper body stuff with bands and free weights. I also have a big ball but I can't balance with this big, funky boot on my leg. I have found some great work outs in the exercise section (thanks!) |

How about 45 and 160? I could use a good support group, too. I am an "empty nester" (my only child graduated from HS and moved...) My husband is not into low cal anything and I really want to feel better. Mind if I join you?

I agree that a doctor visit is in order. I am recovering from surgery that I should have had months ago because I thought I "sprained" my ankle in August. Mine turned out to be torn ligaments. Don't wait too long! In the meantime, ride a stationary bike or do some upper body workouts until you know. Both of these keep me somewhat sane until I can run again. Hang in there!! Take care. |
