Health & Support Diabetic? Jan 05 2008

Always choose your health over thinness. I have inslin dependant diabetes also and you are right it is a tough choice at times. I have been drinking lots of  water to keep my numbers low and walking as much as I can. I haven't seen any change in my weight but I do feel better than I have in a long time. See if you can lower your calories without hurting your sugar levels and see if that helps any. I wish you good health and control in your future. write to me if you want to talk or just need to vent about things. Maybe we can help each other.

OMG!!! you all are so helpful. Thank you!!!

As for insurance....I was on medicaid but then my husband got a small pay raise and they cut everyone off except for my children. Now we have to pay for insilin, needles, 3 heart pills, pain pills, water pills, and now a diabetic pill too, right out of our pocket. It's alot.

I did see a dietatian but they don't see you more than once when on medicaid. What was sad about the whole thing was that she was worse off than me and I felt confussed about how she can preach but not practice her own class.

I have a treadmill that I can no longer use. I developed blockages in both my main ateries of my upper leggs and it causes alot of pain and weakness. The drs won't remove them because of the money thing. So I take the pain pills and try to walk around the apt as much as I can. Sometimes I lose the feeling in my left foot after only walking for about 30 minutes. But I still try. I'll sit down, get the feeling back and get up and walk some more.

I would love to go back to some kind of job but not to many options out where I live. Most jobs here are physical labor and that is something I can no longer do. So I am learning how to sew better and hope to get good enough to work in an alteration shop or maybe sell a few pieces here and there.

It is wonderful to have someone to talk to about all this. My husband cares somewhat but doesn't get involved and other than him it is just my 4 kids. They care but are just as frustrated and confused as I am.

Thank you all again.

Little word of advice... At 13 I weighed in at about 75 pounds and I was 5'8"..

I'm now 36 and by the time that I was 19 I  was so sick that I had a heart attack when I was only 28 weeks pregnant. Luckily both of us lived even though my little girl suffered for my desire to be thin. She is now 16 and so small because of her premature birth that she is only 4'11" and 78 pounds. AND SHE EATS ALL DAY LONG!!!!! So you aren't hurting yourself but maybe your babies to come. Please take good care of yourself and let all the others be fools if they choose to do so.

God Bless you little one.

Hi jrobillard!!!

I know what it is like not to have the support of your husband. It stinks. Mine isn't fit but just doesn't care about that. He thinks I'm waisting my time just by trying. He shops and here comes sodas and cookies and chips. Can't a girl get a break?lol...

Thanks for the reply robann.

I need to lose about 80 pounds. My dr has me on lantus shots(once a day) and glipizide before two meals aday. Yuck!!!! I still don't have energy and if I eat my sugars go up and make me feel like fainting. When is a good time for exercise if I feel like this. All the diabetes drugs are new to me. And confusing...Frown
