doit, i'm wrong. vodka's not calorie-free; i just checked the cals on here. i thought it was b/c a friend of mine used to order that drink when she was tryna lose weight, and she told me vodka was cal-free. i should've known she was wrong, but i don't drink so i never thought to disbelieve her. sorry akela! 1 ounce has as many cals as a whole bottle of light beer.

btw, WW says one of the lower-cal drinks is a sex on the beach. still has about 150 cals per.

akela, why don't you sneak in a bag of mostly fat free microwave popcorn? (pre-popped, of course.) movie popcorn tastes like garbage (to me) anyway, so why waste the calories? and maybe a handful of hershey's kisses? oh! they sell 100 calorie snickers bars now! they're the exact same as regular snickers, just smaller. then tomorrow have light beer. or, i don't know if you drink other stuff but vodka and diet coke has no calories.

msn, zumba is a dance cardio class. i've never taken it, so that's all i know about it.

tell us about the new place, boots!

and you guys will all totally get into your jeans/pants/boots comfortably again. you can do it!

ana, your schooling always sounds so fun! i wish i could've been in a program like yours. i only got through college by keeping my head down and avoiding most science-based classes.

yay akasha! on everything! you will totally see onderland by year end. and i saw that movie too, and i compared all the work that went into it to this year's actual september issue, and i don't see what all the fuss is about. it was nothing but ads! and sensless pictures and stupid article titles. they're breaking their back for what? the magazine's basically unreadable. though i am a subscriber.Wink

as for maintaining whatever size i get to (b/c i'm really just focused on the weight), i'm working now to build what'll become my normal routine fo' life. i already know i'm basically a lazy person and will  take any excuse not to do something, so i don't lift weights more than once a week, and i exercise 3-5 times a week. i'm not gonna work out more than 3 times a week once i get to goal, b/c i know i won't feel like working out 6 days a week when i'm 52 years old.

i'm finding routines that don't put too much pressure on my bad knees and back, and i'm trying to teach myself to eat real food that i cook that keeps me full and my mind off of food. i'm slowly working myself into maintenance mode so that, once i'm there, it won't be a thing.

i'm getting so crap at catching up. but muppet, i get that stomach churning thing. it's your belly digesting what you just ate! let it do its job, and maybe drink something no calorie so it doesn't play with your head.

and there's nothing wrong with taking things slow. that's the only way to not get overwhelmed by what you need to do. if, at the beginning, i focused on losing 170 pounds i would've quit really early on, b/c come on! small goals is the only way to keep your brain focused and chipping away at things.

but don't get me wrong, i get mini-identity crises all the time (see the one i had on the last page). it's just that we all have to readjust our thinking and our view on who we are. it's hard but necessary, so we don't get scared of who we're becoming, freak, and totally give up. i say, as long as you know what you ultimately want, even a year-long hiatus is just that; you're not giving up.

there is no saving pf chang's, msn. each plate is like 3-7 servings, literally, so even if you split it w/ someone you're prolly gonna be eating over 1,000 cals. if you're gonna eat it, stay light the rest of the day and make sure to exercise.

muppet's back!!! yay!!!!!!

you guys are chattin' it up! i don't know if i'll catch up, but i'll jump back in soon.

but i would like to add: thanksgiving can kiss my ass.

that and christmas. i am NOT going to let 2 days, that wind up being disappointing anyway, eff up my progress when i'm so frickin' close to the finish line. my ultimate goal (until a week ago), was a size 8 but that's only 10 pounds away. i definitely need to lose the rest of the weight i intended to lose but for right now, i wanna be rockin' that size 8 by year end, which, like i said, is 10 measly pounds away. i only have 6 weeks to do it, which means i don't have any wiggle room to eff around with some damn turkey and whatnot. although i will make concessions for pie.

edit: last week i looked over my weight/size chart and realized that since i've FINALLY gotten out of plus sizes, i go down a size about every 10 pounds (really, more like every 6 pounds but the new size still fits the next 4 pounds down, so....) this is how i realized i'll be an 8 in 10 pounds, but what really blew me out of the water is that, if this pattern continues over the next 29 pounds i have to lose (which it should, since i consistently lost a size every 15 pounds in plus size, proving that my body likes to stay with its existing patterns), i might maybe, conceivably, once i'm at goal (150) get into a size 4. WTF??????

that itty bitty number doesn't belong anywhere near me. i mean, it doesn't make any sense! not emotionally, but it's perfectly biologically, physically logical. i'm not gonna stay the same size from 169 to 150, and i've already gone from a 14 to a 10 in only 12 pounds, so it probably will be the case that i'll be a 4 when all's said and done.

i haven't told anyone about this until now. i've been mulling this over in my head for over a week now, trying to imagine myself that size. this has really struck me; it feels almost embarrassing to even tell you guys. i feel like, i don't know, i guess like it has to be a lie. i mean, size 26s used to be too tight for me; what the hell business am i gonna have wearing 4s one day? this is totally freaking me out, you guys. but i'll deal with it, b/c the way my sizes are moving now i really do think that's where i'll end up.

ally love the hair and makeup! and your eyes really pop now! you should totally wear eyeliner and mascara, if not everyday as often as you feel comfortable. and you're a total nut, btw! he was in the way b/c all the players basically stayed together, protecting themselves from all the potential groupies. and i, for one, will never be a groupie!

hi shaky!

akela, the kitchen's calling you b/c you're upset. i hope things worked out last night!

frumious, same thing for you. i personally don't think the lower amount of cals is causing you to feel like crap, but that you feel terrible about giving up so much, which is prolly stressing you b/c you feel like you're depriving yourself. play around with your food choices to see which ones keep you not only full but satisified the longest. for me, if i don't start out my day w/ egg, cheese, and meat i'll be eating everything in sight, or starving all day while i'm drooling over the cakes and cookies in the break room.

i posted a coulpla pix of me at my mom's event. you'll notice i'm not wearing the dress i showed you guys. that's because once i found it online to show you guys and saw that overstock had it for 30 bucks, i felt supremely ripped off, having paid 70 for it. so i returned it, and got the dress you see, for $17! btw, i had a blast!!!!! it was a masquerade ball. i think i'm gonna post a photobucket slide show so you guys can see the really cool masks everyone else wore. it was at our football stadium. the guys not in tuxedoes are pro football players. they were hanging around the stadium and just strolled into our party.

also, that's the first strapless dress i've ever worn in my life! yay! oh, AND, i fit into another pair of size 10 pants! trousers, but they were too tight in the waist, giving me serious muffin top. so they stayed in the store. also, my mom forced my 30 year old ass to go into forever 21. most of the tops i tried on fit (size m), but the longer ones wouldn't go down over my booty. WHY is everything so short in there? just because teenyboppers are supposed to shop there doesn't mean they all wanna look like tramps.

but there was this $13 mini-dress--regular price!--that i tried on. i'm about 15 pounds too big for it (waaaay too tight), but once it does fit i'm gonna look insanely hot in it. i didn't get it b/c i've stopped buying things to shrink into. still, if by some miracle i lose 15 more lbs by year end, it'd be a great nye dress.

wtg akasha! any movement down on the scale is cause for celebration!

ana i feel for you! there's no way i could live without a coffee w/ regular creamer every day. and as for a treat, i guess that dress i got yesterday will have to count. i'm kinda brokeski right now.

WOOHOO!!!!!!!

after being stuck for weeks, i am finally, FINALLY out of the 180s! my weight today? 179.4!!!!! yeah!

wait a minute...i don't know why i didn't realize this before, but in less than 6 months i've lost almost 40 pounds. yup, on 5/27 i was 218.8. so hopefully, once 11/27 gets here, i'll be less than 178.8 (i hope!) anyway, it's hard not to beat myself up during plateaus, but it totally just blew my mind that i've done so well in such a short amount of time. i'll try to remember that the next time i hit a plateau, which i'm sure will be around 169.

i just got this dress for an event my mom invited me to. she invited me last night, and it's this saturday. last minute, much? anyway, i was totally blown away that every single size 10 dress i tried on fit. this dress is a medium (!!), and it's the first backless thing i've ever worn in my life! my booty's bigger than the fit model they used to make the dress, so the back pleating isn't as accentuated, but it's still noticeable.

i'm gonna make sure to take a bunch of pix and post for you guys! btw, it looks hella better on than it does on the mannequin. but i've noticed that a lot lately. most clothes look waaaay better in person than they do online.

i was gonna wear that blue dress i wore to my mom's friend's wedding but it's too big now! up top, anyway. it still fits in the bum, but it's too loose from the waist up and the boob part hangs beneath the girls.

watchme, i'm glad the sutton thingy's working out! and stop kicking yourself. time machines don't exist yet, so you can't go back and fix what went wrong. the closest thing we do have to time machines is prescience. you already know that the choices you make now will affect the future, so you have the choice to make decisions that will give you the results you want in the future.

it's wholly up to you, and you only, to stop stress snacking. you'll get back to the gym when you can, but in the meantime there are other things in your power to help you get to 268. you are a dedicated woman; i know you can do it!

ally, duh! weigh yourself in the morning! the higher, later weight includes your clothes, all the food you've eaten during the day, and any extra water our bodies tend to add on during the day. weigh yourself as soon as you get up, after you use the bathroom, and totally nekkid. that will be your truest weight.

hi amocatte! a couple of us on here have bum knees, too. but don't let that stop you from exercising! for now it might be best to focus more on watching your calorie intake and easing into exercise, if you're new to it. some ideas could be walking, that's always good, or the elliptical, or swimming. bicycling can be good, depending on what part of your knees bother you. strength training is great too. you can do most of the moves sitting down, and the lower body ones will help strengthen the muscles around your knees, helping to alleviate some of the pressure.

chicks!

i just realized i've worked out every day since saturday and i've burned 2,000 calories! that is super crazy hard to do at 180. i used to be able to burn a good 1000 if i pushed it when i weighed more, but to burn 500 cals now every part of me has to be glistening with sweat. even my ears sweat! on the way home from the gym last night i'd worked so hard that my body heat was fogging up the windows! seriously! all the other windows and the other half of the windshield were perfectly clear. crazy and awesome!!!!!!

ana, it took me about 4-6 weeks to really notice my arms. you can't see my awesome muscles in any of my pix but they're a tad noticeable in real life. i do have pretty decent biceps and shoulder muscles. you still can't see my triceps of course, b/c most of my remaining arm fat is on the back.

oh yeah, and i think it only took 4-6 weeks to see the beginnings of results b/c i did the whole heavy-weights-low-reps thing. that's where you do 5-7 reps of the heaviest weights you can lift; 3 sets of each. the second you can do 10 reps with a set of weights is the second you go up to the next highest weights. you should be struggling to get the 6th and 7th reps done during each set.

btw, i started preparing my meals ahead of time this week. i'm eating way healthier, w/ larger portions and lower cals, but i've been spending about an hour a night in the kitchen making breakfast and lunch from scratch. no boxed anything.

i made my own pasta sauce last night w/ tomato sauce, sundried tomatoes, a bunch of seasonings and herbs, and a bit of fat free feta. man is it good! i put it on some whole wheat pasta, and now i can't wait till lunch! i think the whole thing is about 300 cals. i made breakfast too, and that was a potato, egg, red pepper and cheese bowl. that came to about 250 cals and was delish and filling, too.

and yay lowest weight!

yay makeovers! doit, i have a suggestion for the next time you get arby's. get whatever you want, but take it home and eat it in front of the biggest mirror you have, and watch yourself while you eat it. i did that a few times, not on purpose though, and i was disgusted by what i saw. and it helped for a very long time to remember how pathetic i looked chowing down on a ridiculous meal while saying i was trying to lose weight. i really think that if you do that it'll help you avoid arby's and the like for a while.

you can do it, ally!

i'm glad you had a good time in spite of the hotel, akela!

that's messed up about your mom's roommate, akasha. but i'm sure she feels a little better b/c you're there for her.

...and i lost almost a pound. i was 181.8 yesterday, to be exact. i was 182.something all last week. this morning i was 181.0. i knew that'd happen. i did kick up the exercise, but i also had a full serving of general tso's chicken, a slice of butterfinger cream pie, about 10 mini snickers bars, a few cups of godiva hot chocolate, and a ginormous chipotle steak burrito. and i lost a pound.

i knew my body wanted me to eat more. okay not really; i was just sick of eating so few cals and seeing almost no results. but if i'm honest with myself, i would've probably lost at least 2 pounds if i'd eaten properly. oh well, at least the numbers are going down again. i hope, now that i'm back on the eating wagon, to FINALLY see 179 next week.

hi all!

i'm switching stuff up with weight watchers starting tomorrow, so i'm hoping, PRAYING to get the hell out of the 180s by the end of the month. my body's a bitch; i was 181 this morning but i can almost bet i'll be 183 tomorrow. i did manage to work out 5 times this week, but i also overate on 2 or 3 occasions. so i can't really be mad at the scale tomorrow.

anyhoo, what's really awesome is that this dress fits!!! well, technically. my measurements match up with the size chart. it's not in stores, and i have neither the money nor the need to buy it any time soon, but it's just awesome to finally be able to fit incredible dresses.

sigh...i'm tryna force myself to go to the gym today. i really have no excuse not to. there's one here in my office building; i even parked next to it to guilt myself into going. then there's another one across the street. it's just that it's so much easier being lazy, which i guess is what got me into this mess.

i heard something on tv last night, that you only get out what you put in. and that if you don't put anything in, you don't get anything out. so what right do i have to expect to lose weight when i'm unwilling to do the work that'll make that happen? again, this is me tryna psych myself up. arrggh, fine! i'll go to the friggin' gym!!!!
