Somewhat surprised I lost at all. I have been very stressed and feel like I've been eating very unhealthy.

Sorry for the late update--we started school Monday and things have been insane! Our building is still under renovation and we barely got parking lots and furniture before the students arrived! Since we weren't allowed in the building until the end of last week, we've been scrambling like mad to get classrooms, paperwork, etc. ready. Early mornings and late nights. Argh!

And the construction workers are still roaming the halls after hours. And the roof was leaking in multiple places today. We really really needed the rain, but not inside the school!

I'm weighing in early this week. I was horrified last week, when I was up ten pounds from before I left on my travels. Happily, I was clearly retaining water, because the weight dropped off rapidly at the beginning of the week. I'm still up four pounds from my low in late June, but I'm much happier to be able to report that I am once again in the losing zone for the challenge. Now I just need to keep on track to get back to that low weight and beyond. Still a LONG way to go to my goal.

This week: 179.8 (down a whopping 6.4 pounds! from last Monday)

OK, folks, I'm back. And unfortunately, I gained 10 pounds during my month of travels! OUCH. This is my usual summer problem. However, it's time to face the music, and get back to work. I have only gained 2.2 pounds for the summer, so with some renewed determination, I can still end the summer down from where I started. I have five weeks left to the end of the challenge.

Let's all get fired up for August!

This week (14th): 210.4

Sorry. I must have missed it. But I've got both of them now.

I'm back. I was out in the countryside in Canada, and between hiking (and getting eaten alive by insects) and spending lots of time with family, I didn't get on the internet until I arrived home this afternoon. Overall, it was a good week. I counted my own weight from my weigh-in last Friday before I left. After my vacation eating, this upcoming weigh-in could be BAD! Oh well.

Those who lost: CONGRATS!

Those who gained: we just need to get back on the wagon and do better this week.

Those who stalled: wait it out. Eat right, exercise, and the scale will move eventually.

We've got two months left, everybody. Lets keep up the good work!

luvtraveling -- ...  I'm in both challenges also, and I really love having one on Friday and one on Monday.  Keeps me motivated during those two very different parts of my week!

Edit -- ... I really like your detailed chart of weekly loss plus overall challenge loss.  Thanks for setting it up!

I think being in both has helped me too. Although I expect my Monday weigh-in to be MUCH worse than my Friday this time. I had a wonderful dinner out last night, and this weekend I'm traveling and I'll be eating at special events all weekend. (For instance, lunch today was a cheese tasting. Super yummy, but hardly health food. I'll spare all the healthy eaters a blow-by-blow of what I expect to be very yummy food events all weekend.)

As for the chart, I'm a number cruncher by nature, I was already planning to use a spreadsheet to keep track (and calculate) how everyone was doing. And once I found I could easil keep the spreadsheet online (and for free), I figured why not.

And it's the teacher in me that had me adding the smiley faces. Even high-school students love stickers, so I figured adults might not mind the visual feedback Laughing. I know it's a little silly, but I enjoy seeing that whole row of smiley faces showing how well we're all doing!

This all reminds me of the need to have an emergency kit...it's almost making me think of keeping a tote bag next to the filing cabinet to carry out the important papers...My computer is a given. The cat (duh).  My passport. Actually, most of the important papers can be skipped if I have my computer.

I don't live in hurricane area. And I'm not near a major river (plus I live on the second floor). So fire is really the most likely problem (possibly tornado) and in that case, I really don't have time to grab anything other than the cat. Maybe I should be packing up my laptop every night...

I don't know the answer, but I heard on the news last week that drinking 16 oz of water first thing is really good for the metabolism--something to do with re-hydrating yourself after all the hours of not drinking anything.

I like pickles OK. I'm a fan of bread and butter pickles, but also the min-gherkin, cornichons.

I have pretty much given them up because they are SO high in sodium.

Weight Loss Daily Fat Intake...too little? Jun 18 2008

Based on my experience, 35 grams should be fine. Too low and you start to see negative effects like dry skin and hair falling out. I'm sure experts can give more scientific answers, but to this lay-person, 35 grams sounds reasonable for someone trying to lose weight.
