Man...I was out last night and I'm going out again in about an hour. I had about 2 drinks last night cause all my male friends thought it would be a good idea to drink a BOX of wine (4 bottles) EACH.... and the night was a bit of a disaster.

Have any of you read that book "growing up a drunk girl" (or "smashed" it's titled in the US)? The drinking culture is so bad at uni (or just in the UK in general I suppose)...I used to go out about once a month before I came here and now it's 2/3 times a week. What else can I do except switch to lower calorie drinks? Cause I don't have the willpower not to go out!!

Ok the not drinking thing didn't last long. I came back to my flat on Wednesday (I live in student accomo during term time) and I had an exam so when I finished my mates took me out for drinks and I ended up drinking loads...I stuck to gin and tonic but I also had some shots and that pushed my calories up a bit. It's so difficult when people keep buying you drinks!

600 calories is definatly not enough! If you've put your details into CC then it should tell you how much you need depending on age, weight etc. But it shouldn't be less than 1200 for women and 1500 for men. And if you're doing exercise then you should eat more calories....having a deficit of about 500-1000 a day after exercise is healthy.

I had water sitting on the table and this just encouraged me to drink it thanks. Laughing

How many oz should you drink in a day? I've had about 24 of water and 2 cups of green tea.

There's no need to get so defensive, I'm not trying to insult you...I'm just saying if you're eatting food and it's making you sick then there's something not right there. I know it would worry me anyway. But if you're now saying it's fine then there isn't a problem.

People are trying to give you insight...maybe it's just not what you want to hear. I think if you're eatting and throwing up food (even if it's not intentional) you should see a doctor.

Maybe you could try something different from the gym and running....how about swimming? You can do that inside and you can vary what you do so you won't get bored? Or maybe there's some kind of exercise classes (like aerobics/kickboxing etc) where you live....exercising in a group can be more interesting/fun. Then once it starts to get warmer you can start running outside again.

I tottally agree...you can't cut out everything you enjoy! If you can treat yourself and stay within the calorie limit then that's an achivement in my book. Keep going you're, doing fine. :D

I lasted about 3 days without chocolate before I was really craving it (never relised how much I ate before) so now I've decided I'm gonna have some once a week, otherwise I'll just binge.

I like the savage look, beard and long hair, both of them clean of course. I don't mind tattoos as long as they follow the rules of good taste, however I don't like piercings, earings are ok but that's about it. A man who has a beard needs no make-up.
As for the clothing simplicity is the best, I simply hate the metrosexual look and the girly-like-boys that are promoted nowadays. Real men should dress in jeans and leather :D

OH YES. and i do love a good full beard. If a man has a beard and good looks...well then hellllo!

Lol! I think I have a bit of a beard fetish causes I will always choose a hairy man (within reason) over a clean shaven one. And totally agree men should look like men and ride motor bikes etc. I don't like them so skinny I feel like I'm gonna break them if I touch them. Tongue out However saying that, there's a lot more to it than just clothes/looks but obviously physical attraction is still important.

I got one with a tare function and I think it's great. I'm really bad at guessing the weight of a portion of food so it keeps my calories acurate. I recommend it. :)

I used to be REALLY fit, I swam for about 9/10 hours a week plus 2 hours of aerobics/cardio and even then I had a little bit of a bulge on my tummy. It's just natural...everyone has different body shapes and yeah some people are just born skinny. But It's much more important that you're eating well and exercising. Try not to worry too much about specific parts of your body. Don't get obsessed!

Yeah it can be difficult to trust the scissors again once someone has messed up your hair! I've had a few bad one's in my past so that's why it's so good when you find a good hairdresser that really understands your hair. Maybe when you get it cut again just get it tided up and not go for anything too adventurous. You've just got to remember that it will always grow back.

I don't shop in GAP (mostly because the "HI!! NAME IS SARAH DO YOU NEED ME TO HELP??!" shop assistants annoy the crap out of me) but I find a lot of shops (i'm from the uk) have irregular sizes. I don't understand why they don't set some kind of standard sizing that all the shops have to stick to.

hm bad luck!  Yeah a hat might be needed. Then when it's grown a bit get a better hairdresser to sort it out for you.

I was thinking about quitting drinking for a while cause I think it has mostly contributed to my weight gain over the last year or so. Also when I've had a drink I find that I'm more likely to give in to cravings and overeat. I just think it would be tricky socially, my friends wouldn't give me a hard time or anything but drinking tends to be a big part of a night out. I might give it a shot and see how it goes.

have you washed your hair and tried to style it yourself? because sometimes it doesn't seem so bad once you've done that.

Thanks guys, good to know it's not just my family! I have to admit I'm not innocent myself, I have teased my dad about his weight in the past but I've realised now it's not very helpful. I think once they see that I'm being serious about this they will be more supportive (my parents anyway). I'll be going back to uni soon so at least I'll have peace for a while...although trying not to drink too much alcohol might be a problem with my mates around. Does counting calories not do your head in after a while? It's not something I've attempted before.
