Hello from NZ, I hear you when you say you can not stop eating. Some times it seems I have a bottomless pit for a stomach, but I also know it is emotion eating rather than physical hunger eating. Depending on how quickly I identify why I am emotionally eating I have the ability to stop and turn myself around other times it take me days if not weeks to sort it out. I am currently in a phase of emotionally eating I think it is to due to the fact that I have been a bit down over the last couple of weeks. I can tell when I am emotionally eating because it comes on fast and it seem like I will never be satisfied The only things that I have tired was to start a journal about what I was feeling and what happen that triggered me to over eat so that I could see if there was a pattern to it.  I  also put my ipod on and go for a brisk 20 minute work to remove myself form the situation hoping that by the end of the 20 mins I would feel better about myself and the desire to overeat has gone.  Another thing I have tired on my self is not to eat anything after 7.30PM at night.  Any way just some thoughts. K8

PS I also like to run and hope that in the next year I can complete a marathon.  I have completed 4 Duathlons since Feb this year.

Health & Support am I weird? Jan 02 2008

Hiya,

You are not weird you are probably the same as a large number of women out there that diet do well yet don't see the change in the mirror.

Whenever we put our body under pressure by restricting calories or food groups we tend to get moody I am not surprised you are also feeling depressed your mind has not yet absorb the change to your body.  Keep focused on your goal.   Eventually your mind will catch up with the body.  Remember our mind is our biggest mind field, work on taming the negative voice that tells you there is no change and replace it with statements like.  "I understand that it may appear that I have not lost weight, but I choose to see things differently today and my clothes tell me I have lost weight.

Your clothes are the best way to show change, the Jeans that are no longer tight in certain places, the dress that now zips up or the skirt that now looks great on you.  Its a pain the in-between stage but we all have to go through it and so do the clothes we wear not quiet the size we want to be and so we still have to wear the bigger clothes, but hang in there it will happen.

Take Care K8

Hiya, I was confused with the whole adding buddy stuff. Thought when you got them you magically went to another plane that you could chat on.  Anyway I am in NZ 42 and looking for support as well.  I assume that we eventually have to move from this forum to another as we are only new the day you join.

I have been a bit remiss with my exercise lately, got the shock of my life when I was waving goodbye to some one and my triceps were still waving after my hand stop.  I know it will take time but boy its frustrating.

Someone told me press-ups are great way to tone them, oh my stars is that meant to be a torture technique or what (LOL). I am doing them 2 ways standing facing the wall and on my knees only way I can get then done.

Anyway if you can manage another buddy you can include me.

Have great day K8

Hi Slownsteady, hope you got through the new year well and are on track with your diet and exercise plan for yourself.

For me I am still struggling with the old portion control, I seem to put more on my plate than I actually need.  My partner and I both do this the only trouble is for me it on the stomach, hips and thighs and him you would never notice he's lucky he is naturally skinny.

As we are in Summer at the moment we are off to the beach tomorrow which I am dreading having to put on a swimming costume. Last time I wore a bikini was when I was 13. I am sure I will overcome my panic attack and enjoy the day as long as I have a good book and plenty of shade from the sun.

Wish you well with you efforts for the rest of the week, no excuses left get out there and get the results you want for yourself. Its our year its 2008 not stopping us.

Welcome, this is a good place to start.  I am planning to get myself back into gear on January 2nd as well but as I am already at the 1st of January I've got no excuse to make an effort today.  My Goal for 2008 is to get healthy, toned and trim before I get to my 43rd birthday which is in May.  I hurt my back a couple of days ago so have not been able to get out and exercise as much as I wanted which is driving me nuts but a few days resting will do me the world of good.  Any way good luck with getting to your goal more than happy to support ya, I am sure together and with others we can kick butt in 2008 and become strong, healthy, trim & toned Women. Yeah for some reason as soon as I see the food tables I want to run a mile. I have a start but no stop button.  I have this terrible habit of eating beyond full when at parties or large gatherings around food.  I am shy as well and I think I absorb myself in eating to avoid the people, which is crazy as I like being around people.  I have stop drinking to much wine as I watched a show called the truth about food and it stated there were 6-8 teaspoons of sugar in a glass of wine (yikes) so I traded my wine in for Gin/diet tonic and Vodka/diet lemonade.  I found I drink less of these than I was with wine. My Plan for the Day is to have salad and BBQ Chicken, stay away from the snack food, and replace the dessert with fresh fruit. It has really been a struggle this holiday period.  I do OK for breakfast and lunch and then about 4.PM go crazy with the eating.

Hey twotonedgirly you are beautiful, I often lose sight of the good parts of me so when I worry about the wiggly jiggly bits I find one part of me that I like and focus on until I can cope with the rest.  Having said that I once thought my purposes on earth was to see how far skin could stretch...Laughing (LOL).  At least we have made a start we could just be sitting around wishing we could start to take care of ourselves.  Welcome to the time of our lives when today we make a choice to eat well and get in at least 30mins of activity a day.  We have an ad on TV that I like which states that you should push play for 30 mins a day so I find something I can do for 30 mins that I enjoy.

Hi, what a great incentive to motivate you to lose weight before your holiday. With support you'll have lost enough to look fabulous for your holiday in August. Normally I check my progress by my clothes than jumping on the scales, but whenever I have a few bad days with food and lack of exercise I am running back to the scales just to check strange. ONLY A FEW DAYS to go and the silly season is over and we are back to routine. Best wishes let today be a great day for you and that you make informed choices today with your diet and exercise. Go girl you can do it. K8

I have already lost 20lbs.  Just trying to get through the Xmas/New Year with out to much damage to my efforts.   I decided that my weight and exercise is a bit like the game snakes and ladders for every ladder I climbed I went down a couple of snakes.Laughing  Hope you have a great day K8

Sometimes the stranger the comment the better we become motivated.  I had  a comment once from guy at work who said my bum looked like a fat wife's bum. now I thought to my self I have a flat bum at the best of times but a fat flat bum no way. So if your friend's fat comment gets you to your goal use it.

My biggest challenge right now is the fact I am on holiday over the xmas/new year and There is plenty of food in my house.  Its our summer holidays so you tend to eat a lot more snack food and drink more wine and beer.  Also since last Wednesday I have not had the motivation to exercise, normally I am good at getting up in the morning and doing something.  Its like the switch in my head just turn over to idle.Undecided

On New Years Day I have to drive to a friends farm for a rather large get together and BBQ.  As I am the designated driver I wont be drinking which is fine by me, just keep me from going crazy at food table LOLSealed.
