| Weight Loss | What do you do to not eat late at night? | Aug 21 2008 18:40 (UTC) |

This was probably the hardest part for me too, avoiding that late night, last minute snack. I didn't cut it out completely, I just start first swapping out that snack for something healthier (a banana or a yogurt that was high in fiber and protein) but still sweet. I then started slowly making the time I ate that snack earlier and earlier, like, for one week ate it 15 minutes before bedtime, the next week 30, etc. Till I scaled it back to a more reasonable time without feeling deprived of that late fix. |

Hey katie4983, I had a similar problem early on as well, I was at around 1400 calories and not losing, or losing only to gain back if I even strayed a little. It was then that I decided to check out what my BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) was, because sometimes eating below that can throw your body into starvation mode (there are those lucky people that this doesn't happen to, but I'm not one of them). Try eating at or above your BMR for a week. The weight loss might be slower because your deficit isn't as high, but I've found with my own loss, it's at least steady. You can find BMR calculators online, like here (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ ) for example. CC doesn't take in to consideration the full BMR calculation when suggesting minimums, and 1200 calories is the lowest amount of calories for someone around a height of 5'2", I believe. At 5'7" I think you'll be more around 1600, depending on your weight. Hope this helps, it worked for me. |
