Fitness I think I don't know how to use my new pedometer Sep 25 2008

I have been waering a sportline pedometer for a year now and mine works fine.

The way to waer it is on the waistband with the clip inside and the pedometer facing outside, so it doesnt get ruined by sweat. Make sure you have a snug waistban, so that it is accurately able to calculate the distance and calories.

Also, you would need to set up your stride length and weight to make the pedometer give correct results. I think your may be on the preset numbers and hence not very accurate for you.

On an average I notice for for 1000 steps, i burn 30-35 calories. My weight is 135 lbs and stride length 2 feet.

Hope this helps.

There are no chances of me being pregnant because we havent had sex at all this month. So doesnt look like pregnancy. In 20 years of my periods they have always been on the dot on between 27 and 29 days except the time when I was pregnant with my first kid (lol). and now its already 33 days since my lmp. I am going to see my gynae this weekend. Lets see what happens.

Weight Loss A Two Month Plateau? May 16 2008
10:35 (UTC)

I just broke a 3 month long plateau. From Feb i had been toggling between 135 and 137. yesterday I weighed at 133 and boy was I pleased. For me I gues it was a question of one week including the weeknf of carefully watching what I ate and swimming a lot. For the last 3 months - I would eat healthy monday to friday and give in on weekends, so on Mondays I was back to square one with lots of added pounds and water retention from the weekend.

Last weekened even though it was my husband's birthday, I maintained my control through all celebrations and exercised in advance to make up for any extras I would eat at the family dinner. It paid off and I am glad I am past this.

Wish you all the best.

I have the same question, sorry cannot give answers. I would like to know that since I have set my activity leve to Lightly active, should I be logging my Pedometer calories burnt as well, or would they be covered in my activity calories of 1800. Also, should I just be logging my gym calories?

Thanks a lot for all the advice. I will set up an appointment with my gynae for this weekend. I am getting all the symptoms of pregnancy like nausea and all so it looks like the case. But since I tried 3 different tests from 3 different company and all came negative am not too sure if any celebrations are premature. Thanks again.

Pregnancy & Parenting Anyone having a hard time conceiving the 2nd time?? Apr 16 2008
13:56 (UTC)

DH and I have been trying to conceive for our 2nd one since Sep 2007 with no luck yet. It is an emotional journey but from the response I got on this forum most suggested we wait for medical help till at least 12 cycles of trying. You can also read my thread tiled 'TTC No luck yet' on this forum for some other thoughts.

Thanks looriec and girlafraid7. I agree its an emotional journey. Sometimes I blame myself for leaving trying for my 2nd kid for so long because I was busy building a career. Though I am 31 and have regular cycles, we had not really been charting my ovulation and just going by the 12-16 day window. Now having read on a lot of sites like babycenter.com and yourdays.com, I realise that my ovulation is more like 15-16 day and all this while we would be exhausted after trying the 12/14th day ;). So this month we have timed it more correctly and lets see.

Thanks everyone for sharing stuff, makes me feel more hopeful.

Thanks shoeofkuribo. I will look the link up. Wasnt sure of when we should really start panicking about things not working. I have just started reading on the web and trying to time my ovulation from last period. Lets see if things work.

Thanks once again.

I have been a vegetarian since May 1, 200.

I have not had a single soda since Dec 31, 2007

I have lost 11 lbs and kept them off.

I havent binged even one day since I started eating healthy.

I drink at least 10 glasses of water everyday since Dec 31, 2008.

I feel energised after 1 hr of work out in the gym and love walking back home after it.

I feel i am now the healthist I have ever been in my life.

Original Post by funkymunky0016:

Welcome to the club - I have also hit two plateaus since starting in early December.

I am 5'4", SW 146, CW 136, GW 125.  1st plateau - about 1.5 months in at 140lbs, 2nd plateau at 2 months at 138lbs.

Hi Funkymunky, I have exactly the same stats as you. I am 5'4", SW 147 ( In early Jan), CW 136, GW 125. I am currently facing a plateau with my weight yo-yoing between 135 and 137 for the last 3 weeks. This is really frustrating me. I eat arnd 1400-1600 cals a day and exercise 3-4x a week. Taking a break for a week sounds like a good idea. Let me try it.

hi curalium,

I have been hovering between 135 and 137 for the past 2 weeks and am now beginning to feel really frustrated. I watch my calories between 1400-1500 a day, exercise 2-3 times a week burning 1000 cal a week but nothing seems to be making a difference. Then i thought maybe it was PMS but now my period is gone and am still at 135. So yeah it can get really frustrtaing and noone is commenting on my looking thinner :(( so thats worse.

Well, i intend to continue with this routine for another week or 2 and then reevelaute again. I just wanna go below 134 once at least.

On also forgot to add, my burnmeter says I burn 1900 a day, so that a deficit of 3800 calc per week. What is your deficit a week coming to?

Yeah, I am experiencing the same thing, this 1 lb, i lose it one day I gain it back 2-3 days later, then i lose again and gain again. Has been going on for 2 weeks now and is totally frustrating me. and this is on top of eating at least 400 cal deficit per day and exercising 2-3 days a week. So i guess at one point the weight loss does slow down and maybe one does end up gaining more muscle mass.

Are you eating too much sodium by any chance. Becoz with the amount of exercising you are doing it does seem that you should be losing weight. Your body could be holding a lot of water and that is what is showing up on the scales. You could check the sodium intake under the Analysis link in the logs.

I see this happening with me also at least once in 2 weeks when the scales go back up, but on analysing its always comes out to be the chips or sushi with soya that i have eaten the day before that is the culprit even though they fit in my 1400 cals a day limit :D

Thanks Christa. Actually I have  a 5 yr old daughter and during her time I put on close to 35 lbs. So this time I wanted to shed some weight before I get pregnant so that i dont end up like i did last time. I dont drink any coffee, am a tea drinker.

Soc_Puppet, I guess my nutrition is fine, I am a vegetarian, have lots of greens and whole grains. My menstrual cycle has been fine, though from the earlier 5 day it has now gone down to 3.5. I guess I will ask the moderator to move the thread to the parenting forum. Thanks again.

Thanks mousephd for your wishes. I have never been lighter than 125 lbs ever since I can remember. I have lost 9 lbs since i started CC a month back, what really shook me up was my body fat % came to 32. Till then I never realised that slowly a lot of fat was creeping up around my belly. When I was in my 20s most of my weight was evenly distributed, its only now I can see tires around my waist.
