I tried some B-vitamin chews and I really like them except for they dont help me much in class. They seem to perk me up generally for the entire day but they are not enough to keep me awake when I am sitting down in a warm classroom. I may just try standing up from now on. the diet soda works but I jsut hate drinking it, i'd rather drink coffee or green tea but that's discouraged in my house soooo...i dunno. where else can i get a good shot of caffein that's in drink form? |

Thanks guys, those are all great ideas and i'm going to try them all! Today I did a combo I had an iced caffeinated diet soda (don't like em too much but the caffeine is great!) in class and I stayed awake for the WHOLE lecture. it was awesome I actually learned something today. And I always work out at 5:30am it's the only time I have, it does help me wake up but, yeah, definitly cuts out some of my sleep. I think maybe i'll try sleeping in once a week or something cuz my first class isn't until 7a.m. Thanks for the tips, if anyone comes up wiht something else let me know! |

My husband absolutly HATES peppers, green, yellow and red. So whenever we go to dinner if he orders something he will ask if it has peppers in it and then if it does tell them he is allergic. Sometimes they still mess up and his choking and gagging sounds(they are authentic, he really can't stand the things) usually will get us a free meal! ;-) |

Hey I didn't know that about the morning after pill! I think I may just go get some to have just in case. I thought it was only effective "the morning after" but if it's good up to five days that better, especially if I don't need a prescription for it :-) Thanks again everyone P.S. It's been a week and I am feeling much better! |

Thank you all so much for your replies! I think you guys are right and I just got so nervous about things that my stomach has been hurting and also i think I may just have a little digestive upset. I'm usually so good about taking the pill every day at the exact same time that this one just freaked me out. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and pray that I get my period this month :-) But thanks a lot, i feel much better now! |

I'll second the others above that you really need exercise and diet, not a "magic pill" I guess if you are determined to waste money on a pill though you may want to go with something that is clinically proven to help. The only one on the market that i know of is Alli. And it doesn't work "effortlessly" it says you will only get results if you are watching your diet and exercising as well so I think it is more to be trusted. I've never tried it though, just seen the clinical trial results. |

I am 5'4" and I wear a size 4 or 6, depending on the brand (124lbs.) I used to wear a size two when I was 100-105 pounds. I think a size four would be a good goal to shoot for and then see how you feel at that weight. Don't just go by numbers. It would be silly to say, well I look good now but I want to be able to SAY i wear a size two so I'm going to lose more weight. It really doesn't matter if you are happy :-) |

| Fitness | Can over training cause weight gain? | Jul 28 2009 04:44 (UTC) |

Maybe the safest method for awhile would be to eat exactly what you are hungry for when you are hungry for it. While making healthy choices of course. Sounds funny but maybe we just ,lol, listen to our bodies for once and stop messing with them. Somtiemes I think we make things more difficult than they need to be when it comes to food...don't know about anyone else but I sure do. |

Have you tried maybe decreasing your calorie expenditure to where you only need to eat 2000-2500 calories? If that is the amount of calories that you lose weight eating at, then maybe you should just decrease your activity level and your intake? I dunno, it's worth a shot. What you've got going on is similar to what I am experiencing and it's such a mystery to me. I am trying to figure it out as well. My theory is that maybe bodies get used to doing a certain amount of work and find ways to not burn as many calories that they should doing that work. Maybe our muscles learn how to cut corners? So even though we should be burnign 3000cal/day, if we do it every day then our bodies find ways to only burn 2000. Then we end up overeating... |

| Weight Loss | what to fight kcals or carbs!!! | Jul 25 2009 04:21 (UTC) |
|
Personally, I think it is almost easier to count carbs than it is to count calories. But it is useful to count both. That way, you are automatically choosing foods that are higher in protein and will fill you up. You can eat 1500 cal worth of mostly carbs (even if they are "good" carbs) and still be starving. But eat the same amount of high protein foods with moderate fat and moderate carbs and you will feel much fuller. Also I have to second the opinion that you need to eat more. People who just want to "lose it and lose it fast" do not have the mentality to keep it off for the long run. Even if your metabolism doesn't slow down because you are only eating 1200 cal/day then once you hit your goal weight you are very very likely to gain it all back. Do what you want, but as someone who has been through this already, I'd recommend that you eat more. |

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the replies. No, they are not paying me, they just asked if we would be around for that week and said "hey would it be okay for you to watch our dog then?" I I just have a hard time saying "no" to people without an excuse but I think on this one I will just tell them that we won't be able to do it. And if they ask why then I'll say that I don't want to leave the dog alone all day. I mean it WILL have an accident if it doesn't get to go out for 8 to 9 hours won't it? I would think so. Thanks again! It helps to know i'm not the only one who wouldn't want to do this! |

I agree with the above posters that this weight will likely come off within the week as long as you get back to your 1750 tomorrow. Also, can i recommend one day every week where you just eat until you are full (not stuffed!) and whatever sounds good to you? That may help prevent future binges. Just an idea. Good luck!

I'm in the exact same situation. And I know what you mean by feeling "soft." I went through this for awhile and honestly, it has taken about six weeks but I am finally starting to not feel so soft and feel leaner again. I would recommend keeping your calories where they are but maybe adding in some more cardio. I think it's better to exercise a bit more then it is to drop calories since yours are already low. It's frustrating, I know. But see if you can put up with where you are for a couple weeks. It may just get better, it did with me but it took awhile. |

Interesting, I think you are right. My ED started when I was 13 and even though I am physically recovered and I'd say mostly mentally recovered. There is always that tiny little bit of me that I have to argue with to eat "normally." Thanks for the thought! |

I'm not to bothered by artificial stuff but I usually make her recipes with added ingredients. For example i'll use regular milk instead of soy (EXPENSIVE) or real sugar instead of fake. Her desserts are just amazing though, there are some banana muffins that if you top with peanut butter you will honestly think you have died and gone to heaven. I'd say as long as you are eating healthy nutritious meals during the day, making one of her recipes will not kill you and will help you stay under your calorie budget. |

I loved Crime and Punishment but I would recommend not reading it on your own. There is so much in that book that really only comes out in discussion. So it is an awesome choice for a literature or book club but i think you don't get as much out of it by yourself. Good story either way tho. His other writings are good as well but C&P is in my opinion the best/easiest to read. |

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have been hearing the advice to keep an ideal weight range instead of a set number so I think I am going to take that and try to be happy within a five pound range. It's hard I just like the number 119 so much, lol, but I realize i have to let go of that. Since I made this post my weight has already gone up and down a few pounds so that is definitly a good idea so I can stop freaking out. And Kelsea (folkharpist), wow lol! That's so weird when you find two people so alike. Congrats to you too, and thanks for the advice :-) ~Jessie |

All i can do is offer the two best ab workouts I know of. I and many of my friends have seen amazing results from using Ab Straps (where you hang form both arms from arm slings) which are pretty common, you can find them at most sports stores. My very favorites are called Inversion Boots, the brand name that is best is Hang Ups and you can find them if you google them or look for them on Ebay. Basically with these you hang upside down and do all your ab workouts from thsi positions. They are amazing and it is the hardest ab workout you will ever find. Good luck! |

I know it is hard now, to eat that much. Especially when no one else is. But you have to remember that it really isn't an abnormal amount of food! You need to remember why you are getting better and like gi-jane said, reaffirm why you are recovering. If you don't remind yourself of why you want to be healthy, and do it often, it will make it a lot harder to deal with those thoughts and actions. Good luck and congrats on working toward recovery. You can do it :-) |

5'4" 121 pounds, 19 years old. I also wear a size four. Sometimes a six and sometimes a two but not usually. It really depends on the manufacturer. I have a friend who is tall and thin but also wears a bigger size because of her shape. Are you pear shaped? that might be it. Don't stress, you are at a healthy weight so I wouldn't worry about the fashion industry's numbers. |

I second gi-jane and want to add that it helps to evaluate. Which is more worth it to you? What did you have to do to lose the weight and are the things that you know you have to give up to maintain that weight worth it? For me, one of those things is that I have to not have peanut butter in the house. It is a life style change (sounds silly but true) because that is all I will eat if I have it around. But to me, it is worth giving up peanut butter to look the way I want to look. Sometimes the things we have to give up are not worth it, sometimes they are. You need evaluate and decide. Best of luck! |
