The easiest and most filling is a protein shake! 1 banana, 1 cup of any fruit ( I find frozen strawberries are the best), 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of OJ or low fat soy milk, 1/2 cup of (Dannon) vanilla yogurt, and one scoop of whey protein ( I use GNC strawberry whey powder). This will make two servings, so if you only want one serving, cut it in half. You're looking at (roughly,) 370 calories, 2.5g fat, 160mg sodium, 52g carbs, 2g fiber, 35g protein

| Weight Loss | Going to do it this time! | Jan 13 2008 14:33 (UTC) |

Your problem is that you're dieting. No matter what you see or read, dieting never works! What you need is a lifestyle change. Something that will last forever instead of for only 6 -8 weeks. You need to learn what the right foods are, about protein, good fats and activity! Of course, the bottom line to losing weight is that you have to burn more calories than you take in! Two awesome books you might want to purchase is Flip the Switch (Sorry! I can't remember the author's name!) and Six Minute Meals for Six Pack Abs by David Zinczenko. These two books have changed my life! They are easy to read and understand. Don't forget...you have to add exercise into your daily routine. At least 1/2 an hour a day. It doesn't have to be done all at once. You can break it down into 3 -10 minute workouts or 2 -15 minute workouts. Hand weights are a must have for building muscle. The more muscle you build = more calories burned. Go at your own pace, just make sure you "go"! In time, you will find that your 1/2 hr. of exercise is not only easy but you'll want to exercise for even longer!! Good luck!! |

| Weight Loss | Does it matter what I eat, as long as I stay around my calorie goal? | Jan 13 2008 14:21 (UTC) |

Yes, it matters! You are consuming a lot of fats (and not the good kind!!) and sodium! I understand that your calories are down but that really doesn't matter because the (bad) fats are being stored. As far as the chocolate...I love it, too! What happens is every time you eat sugar, your body releases insulin to "combat" it. Because your body is being flooded with insulin, your body goes into a "panic" and thinks that it's not going to have enough sugar to store, so it starts storing whatever sugar isn't being regulated by the insulin! Because the insulin has "taken" the sugar, your body now thinks it needs to replace it = hunger! You end up eating more, and in your case, the more that you're eating isn't good! Try to get you sugars through fruits. I would stop the fast food eating and replace it with fast things that you can make at home. An awesome book to own is Six Minute Meals for Six Pack Abs by David Zinczenko. The meals are literally 6 minutes and they are so filling!! Even my kids (15, 16 & 19) love his meals! Good luck!!

| On THE BIGGEST LOSER, they said that for every pound of muscle you gain, you burn an extra 100 calories a day. | |||
