Weight Loss Calorie Counting vs Period? Feb 18 2008

It would probably be a good idea to keep track of your cycle for at least a couple more months, then talk to your doctor.  There are a LOT of different factors that affect your cycle.  Stress, diet, etc.

My daughter was living with her dad for about a year.  During that time, I had almost stopped having my period (I am 48 and perimenopausal).  When she moved back in with me, I started having my period again every month.  Women living together tend to have their cycles in synch.  Crazy, huh?

It's probably nothing to worry about, but good for you for keeping track.

Julia Child cookbook says 13 minutes per pound for rare - and it is REALLY rare then.  I usually only cook it about 20 per pound, because the temperature will really rise as it rests.

Somebody already mentioned about the meat thermometer - you should also make sure that your OVEN temperature is accurate.  So if it's not too late - you could also spend an extra dollar and buy an oven thermometer.

Motivation Looking for motivators Jan 26 2008

Yes, it's true.  Divorce can make you fat.  Happened to me, too!

I have been using this site for about two months.  I have lost about 12 pounds and have about 12 more to go.  As I have seen some success, it has really increased my motivation.  I"m losing more slowly now, but I still get excited when I get to put a lower number in that weight log.  I guess what I'm trying to say is that it has gotten easier for me.  In the past, I would do great on a diet for a while, then lose motivation and end up gaining back the weight, plus a little more.

I love seeing the exact calories for everything!  Even when I have messed up and had a piece of pizza or a couple of beers, you can see exactly how big the mistake is, then you can compensate for it over the next few days.  In the past, if I messed up, I'd think, Oh well, I already blew it so I might as well eat the rest of the pizza, too.

I'm getting close to age 50, and I have lots of family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, you name it.  That's also a strong motivator!  Healthy diet - healthy life.  I HOPE!

Divorced, yes.  But I will love again.  And that starts with loving myself.  Hope you find health and happiness!

They also have cesar salad with shrimp on the barbie.  Get the dressing on the side, and try to stay away from the bread basket.
