thank you all for your comments! baybdreamer...definitely sending good thoughts your way for your appointment. I think you are right, if my dr. isn't into helping me, then I will find another. I don't want to play "let's wait" anymore..and neither does my DH. Moonhunt18...i live by Taking Charge of Your Fertility! It is a wonderful book and taught me how to chart my BBT and CM. Really an amazing book..adn I recommend it to others like you have to me! You are right when it gave you good information about your body that I am amazed I didn't know! It has armed me with good information that helps me stay positive and take things into my own hands. I also post on babycenter.com (under name b-creative) and track my charting using fertilityfriend.com. Both of which help. I am looking forward to my appointment on Wednesday..I will keep you all posted..and you all do the same! |

I have an appt with my regular obgyn, again, next wednesday where either we are going to get more agressive or she is going to refer me to someone else...at least, that is my agenda. I am really not into the whole, wait and see idea. I am 28 and my DH is 31, coming up on 29 and 32 respectively in a couple months. Thank you for your comments, sometimes its just nice to read that its ok to be upset and cry. My DH and I definitely are able to discuss...although, i know I am more extreme about it than he is. but i would say that is generally how it is with women and men... thank you again, juliemae.. |

I can understand your frustrations! I am 28, DH is 31 and we have been TTC for 10 months. Grrr... "people" say it takes 3-4 months coming off BC to regulate...i have yet to regulate! what everyone said seems pretty good advice. Telling your dr. everything seems pretty important...they are there to help not judge you! glad you are posting...it has helped me to talk about it...even to strangers! beth |

juliemae2 i am not seeing one..do you recommend seeing one? I guess i assumed that if my doctor couldn't handle it...she would send me to someone else. Can I just go around her? my DH wants to get tested...would they do that? thanks for your comment.. |

UPDATE: Month 10. still nothing. found out I have follicles on my ovaries preventing me from ovulating. Just got some medication to jump start my AF, as it has been 70 days since last one. Now we play the waiting game...hoping to start Clomid next month. VERY frustrating and makes my heart sad to have to go through this. I just wish it was easier. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | PCOS? Signs and symptoms? | Jul 10 2008 15:08 (UTC) |

Update: I had my appointment yesterday. She did a vag. ultrasound. the technician asked immediately if I had PCOS. When i looked at the monitor, you could see dozens of small black spots all around the ovary. Same on the other side. Although my doctor said they were "follicles" and not "cysts"...isn't that basically the same thing? She did not prescribe any medication except some hormones to try and jump start my period. She said she wanted to wait a couple more months to watch and see what happens. Grrr. She said by now my cycle should have regulated...so looks like my body does not want to ovulate or at least not in any regular fashion. Love the wait and see game. Sigh.

My doctor's appointment is today..and looking forward to discussing everything with her. I am on day 59 of my cycle...ugh. Thank you for your encouragement!! Will do on all three counts...ask for the test, get some meds and keep exercising! BTW: what does the test for PCOS consist of..blood work? exam?
thanks! |

aishaahm, thank you for sharing your story. it is very encouraging..as we seem to have the same body type and specific problems. It also makes me want to pick up my workouts! I just posted on another question but i have a dr.'s appointment next Tuesday to discuss these problems and hopefully get referred to a fertility specialist... On day 52 of my cycle. sigh.

Brianneo...Congratulations!!! That is wonderful news!!! I know you all must be so excited...and thank goodness the cramping went away!! :) As an update on my original question...I am on day 52 of my cycle and still no period. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests...one on day 35, day 39 and day 45. All negative. I have made an appointment to see my OB-GYN for next Tuesday to discuss these problems and hopefully see a fertility specialist. I have a feeling I am just not ovulating at all. Definitely frustrating. We are on month 9 of TTC with no end in sight. will keep updating... thanks!!

stevemindyl, thank you so much for your words and your story. You are right, it helps to blog/write about it. I sometimes feel so much frustration and anger that all my friends are getting pregnant and having babies with no problems and I can't even get my period. I am just going to focus my energy on losing weight and getting more healthly and enjoying travelling. it definitely still hurts and is really tough. thank you. |

Lulufit, Thank you so much for your response...and I will take you up on messaging you! As far as exercising, My husband and I have gotten back into running and I have already lost 5lbs! I am about 5' 11'' and weigh now about 167 (goal is 150). I have always been active but now we have found something that we can do to lose weight together. I was very active when I was young so I didn't start my period until I was almost 17 years old and never regular until I got on BC. So, in the back of my mind, I always thought I would have problems. It was really wonderful to hear your story, and although I bet it was a long, tedious process and stressful, your outcome is wonderful! Again, thank you. I have dried my tears and looking ahead and staying positive. My sister, who has been a wonderful ear for me (even though she has not had any problems conceiving and is on #2 with only 2months off BC), told me once that that each time I have my period, that egg was just not meant to be our baby. For some reason, that was comforting to me. |

jenny mccarthy and jim carrey have a big campaign about the link between autism and vaccinations going on right now. they are encouraging mothers to ask the doctor to space out the vaccines instead of doing them all at once. read the story: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/04/02/mccarthy.aut simtreatment/index.html
hope that helps! |

thanks brianneo for your comments....and glad to know its not just me about getting upset about a sibling! I definitely chart my CF but not my temperature. I run at about a 35 day cycle instead of the "normal" 28 but even after 8 months, it still can vary by a fews days or more. I decided not to stress or worry my obgyn until it has been a year of TTC. Hopefully this past cycle we were successful! I can actually feel when i ovulate (but only on the right side) so we timed it perfectly this month. i guess i will know in about a week. no stress...no stress....:)

We are still trying...now on month 8. I am currently ovulating so keeping my fingers crossed. Random question: Any relation of hereditary and ability to conceive? My sister just got pregnant again after only trying for about 2 months...and it was the same with her first child. Definitely is hard for me to hear about how she is doing..but still very happy for her! brianneo- definitely try to not stress. (although the hardest thing in the world to do!). Good luck to you and keep us posted! |

We have been trying to conceive for 6 months now. The first couple months...i was almost obsessive about it...now, I am definitely more relaxed. I highly recommend the book, "Taking Charge of your Fertility". It helped me become more in-tune with my body and helped me enjoy this time...and help pinpoint O a LOT better. I was off by about 6 days for the first couple months so it was almost impossible for us to conceive then!

I will absolutely recommend the book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It opened my eyes to ways to predict ovulation (especially if you are not having the typical 28 day cycle..which I wasn't). Helps you chart your basal tempature and cervical fluid. I have been off BC for about 4 months and will hopefully be a little more successful this month after reading the book! They say give it at least 2 months to let your body adjust and to have sex just once a day or every other day to let the little guys recharge. Check out the book, i think it will help put your mind at ease. And most importantly (and hardest to follow)...relax and don't stress. :) |

I agree...LOVE that show! She talks a lot about common sense when shopping. Don't worry about the size you are wearing, but what fits your body. Sounds like you might be more of a pear shape...avoid flare and bootcut pants and jeans. Stick with a good straight leg style. You have a tiny waist, show it off!! Wear jackets and shirts that hit your waist..OR wrap style tops and sweaters. Have fun shopping!
