Weight Loss Zigzagging Calories Jul 24 2009

Well, one of the websites I looked at in my research said that when zigzagging, you should eat five days at 500 calories below your maintenance requirements, and then eat two days at 500 calories about maintenance. If caloriecount says that I burn 1650 calories on a given day and I burn about 250 calories working out, that gives me about a 1900 calorie expenditure. So 500 calories below that is 1400, no problem, I can do that. But eating at 500 calories above my maintenance would be around 2400 calories. I haven't eaten that much in literally 3 1/2 to 4 years and that number scares me. I've been stuck eating around 1000 calories a day for over a year even though I knew that was the wrong thing to do. I was just so scared to up my calories. Yesterday I ate 1400, and that scared me. 2400 sounds outrageous to me.

I actually didn't cook it at all. It just said to mix the ingredients with a mixer. Maybe that's the problem.

Well I was trying to make just a simple white icing and every recipe I looked at called for the same ingredients: powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla. But no matter what I do, it always just tastes like sugar and it gets super runny. But I don't want to try and make it thicker by adding more sugar because it's already so sweet. I tried adding butter, but it didn't really help...

Health & Support HELP!!! I just ate maggots!!! Jul 17 2008

The same thing happened to me one time. But it was with a bag of brown rice. I had just bought a bag of brown rice from Wal-Mart and decided to cook a bit of it. I looked at it and saw something that looked a bit strange and just thought nothing of it thinking that it was just a grain of rice. I now realize that it was a maggot because a few days later looking in the bag I saw little webs, almost cacoon like, and there were a lot of little bugs moving around in the bag. Then we had a horrible problem in the cabinet that the bag of rice was in. The little maggots had turned into, I guess they were some kind moths. When it dawned on me that I had eaten a maggot (or whatever it was) I almost had a cow. No matter how sickening it is to think about it, no I don't think it will make you sick, though.

Weight Loss Does anyone need to lose 25 lbs? Weekly weigh in! Jul 16 2008

185

I am in.

Age: 17

Current Weight: 148

Goal Weight: 125

Exercise: I usually bike about 30 minutes a day (5 miles) and then jump rope for about 20.

I have been trying to lose weight for so long. I got down to 120 at one point but then all of a sudden i started gaining all this weight. I have seriously gone from like 120 to 148 in the time span of six months. How is this possible. I think it had to have been the medication that i was on. (Yaz birth control). so i gave it up about 2 weeks ago and that better help.

Foods Subway Sandwiches Mar 27 2008

I work at Subway so, the 6 grams of fat or less sandwiches do not include cheese or condiments. The other sandwiches do include the cheese, but no sauce. The 6 grams of fat or less sandwiches only include the veggies (lettuce, tomato, pickles onions, green peppers, and olives. But you have to realize that the amount of those veggies that are supposed to go on your sandwich are small. (3 pickles, 3 olives, .5 oz of lettuce, green pepper, and onion, and 2 tomatoes). Since I usually get more veggies than that, I usually just add about 20 calories or so to the amount of the sandwich.

Salads are the same way, only they have the amount of veggies for a footlong instead of a 6 inch (double veggies).

Condiments: mustard (reg. and spicy)=5 calories per tbsp, honey must.= 30 calories per tbsp.  The mayo (even though low fat) is not even worth it b/c the person making the sandwich will probably put too much. Everything else is pretty much high in fat.

Hope this helps!

Honestly, I had a feeling that people would tell me to eat more, but even my nutritionist told me that I only needed a maximum of 1500 calories a day.

Health & Support Eating disorder, or disordered eating? Jan 08 2008

I definitely agree with Revolution. You may not technically be classified but you obviously have a problem. I was the same way. I never got down to 92 lbs and 400 calories a day but I was down to 112 lbs at 5'4 and 700 calories a day and I lost my period for about a year. So I was never classified as anorexic either but I had a problem. I now try to eat 1300 calories a day (I just started doing that after a recent relapse to 800 calories a day) and I feel bad about eating all that. But I know that I just need to push through it b/c I know I will be healthier that way. So I think if you can't get through this without help you definitely need to get over it and tell someone.

I am totally the same way. I watch the food network ALL THE TIME! I watch nothing else. It is an obsession. At my worst during my ED I would eat about 700 calories a day and nobody knew how bad it was. I would constantly lie to my mother when she asked me what I had eaten that day. I would start rattling off all of these things when I actually hadn't eaten anything.

Since I was a little girl, I was always overweight. Finally I decided that I REALLY was going to lose the weight and I lost like 80 lbs. in like 8 months and I felt great and I was just so scared that that wonderful feeling would go away and I would go back to the way that I used to eat and gain weight. My biggest fear was that if I let myself eat more than like 1000 calories one day, then gradually i would start eating more and more and just not care anymore and gain all of the weight back. But I am still trying to get over my ED. In fact, I had started to slip back into eating like 700 calories a day again, and when I found this website and found all of the support here, I've started eating more again because I know it's better for me than starving myself.

So thanks to everyone here. You're a big help.

I am 16 and 115 lbs. My goal is really to just maintain. I started losing weight in November 2006 when I was almost 200 lbs. By July I was down to about 112 lbs. I wasn't very healthy and  the nutritionist said that I was on my way to anorexia. So yes, I have had problems with eating disorders and I still have a lot of trouble. So if there is anyone interested in talking to me, send a message.
