Weight Loss any rules re:weight loss when sick? Feb 07 2008

Well just speaking from personal experience, I was sick for about a solid week straight. I lost about 5 lbs. total. It has been a week since I was sick, and every pound came back...I know, totally depressing. I know thats probably not what you want to hear, but thats what happened to me. Hopefully you will have a happier ending.

Yeah there was. I dunno, well good job everyone. Thanks peacelovehominy, I like this thread a ton better. So are there any suggestions out there for me real quick? Here is whats going on. I only lost 5 pounds in all of January which was good to lose weight, cause I honestly can't say that I have ever lost weight before, but the other day I was eating food that wasn't horrible, but definately not good for me. While I was eating it, I seriously felt so happy since I haven't had food like that in forever. So I am so worried now that I am going to start eating crappy again, cause it was so freaking yummy. Anyways, to sum it up, I am losing motivation hard core, and 5 pounds in a month isn't really enough to keep me going.  Oh, and I am terrified for superbowl sunday because our family has a ritual of eating crap food during the game. Any input on any of that?

Very nice! The weigh in is tomorrow again. Let me know if you want to start a new thread or should we still just list our weights on this one? And how is everyone doing?

Official weigh in: 154.5 down from 155.5. I know, 1 pound not a ton, but it feels great that the scale is actually moving for once. And in a good direction. Yipee!!

Hey I have been out of town for a few days and have no scale, so I am weighing in on Monday. I am not looking forward to it by the way. I always splurge when I go on vacation. Cross you fingers that I don't gain 25 lbs. See you Monday!

That is exactly the kind of stuff I like hearing, thanks for that idea. I don't have a membership to a gym though, so what are you ideas on work out videos and stuff, like tae-bo?

Yeah that is totally fine. We are cutting off by Friday so no big deal. And what do you mean make a new thread over in G+C? Yeah I will do whatever, I just don't know what you mean. And I know what you mean about feeling dead guilty. Had way too much German Chocolate Cake today...I will have to do some major excercising tomorrow.

Yeah this Friday should definately be the cut off, but no problem on you two joining. The more the merrier. How tall are you guys, struggs and alicandra? My name is Anna by the way, so you don't have to type guacamolegirlie every time you want to talk to me. So there is  Ally, John and what are everyone elses names?

Yeah that is exactly how I am. The weight doesn't budge. If you want there is a forum called "need someone to lose weight with me, once and for all." Me and like 3 other people are going to kick each other's butts and get this weight off. We are doing a mini 'biggest loser' and whoever loses the most body percentage before June wins. You two are welcome to join. I also did a list of rewards I am going to give myself for each 5 punds I lose. For example, right now I am 5'8 and weight 155, so when I get to 150 I would get like a new pair of pants, and 145 would be some shoes or something like that until you hit our goal weight. That's just the things I am doing until this weight comes off me. I know how hard it is though, so good luck. Go ahead and join our contest also, if you guys want to.

I don't know what she is going to be doing. I haven't heard from her. Yeah so I am officially stoked for this little competition now, sounds like just what I need to get going. PS if there is anyone who stumbles on this, don't hesitate to join. We are going to see who loses the most percentage of their body weight by June. Our own little biggest loser :)

PS to peaceloehominy: how did you go from 170 to 140? That is totally amazing, props to you. How did you do it?

June sounds awesome to me. And I think we should do percentages since it seems like we all need to lose different amounts of weight. Hey do you know how to add friends on this thing?

I have had personal experience with anorexia, and let me tell you that it is not a good solution.  It can have serious health affects and, from what I have seen, doesn't help too much with confidence either. The most rewarding and accomplishing way to lose weight is to do it the healthy way. You will feel proud of yourself, more confident and not have and harmful side effects. This is just what I have seen from some of my best friends who have had eating disorders. You are worth it. You will feel better if you never even start it. Good luck and keep us posted.

That sounds awesome to me. That would definately keep me going. What should our end date be? Like sometime in April? Tell me what you think. And also I had my weigh in today, I am 155. What did you start at? 141 is good to me, so nicely done. Are we doing how much percentage is lost, or how many pounds?

Young Calorie Counters More parent troubles...gah Jan 04 2008

Parents can be so stinkin annoying. I feel ya. Today my sister (a poor college student) had a car that broke down. My dad starts freaking out that he would have to pay for it. Then he goes on saying how much his kids are costing him. I was just thinking, 'Well so sorry that you chose to have us. Since we had so much to do with it.' So I know what you are talking about, and I am sorry. Nothing gets me in a worse mood than when my parents are being butts. You should try to talk to them about it though, or at least your mom.
Young Calorie Counters i was wondering if i could bust in here for help with my 15 year old daughter? Jan 04 2008

I am not a mother and I have never been married, but I am a 17 year old girl who can see what your girls are going through. My mom is my best friend, and we got that way from spending time with each other. She is strict, but once she laid down the law, all I had to do was follow it. It's not bad because now we are past our arguing phase that every mother and daughter go through and we are on to becoming friends. It is good when that trust boundary is set so you don't have to spend all your time lecturing. I would suggest you call your daughter, tell her the rules for when she comes home, let her know that if they are broken she is going straight back to her dad's with no second chances and see how it goes from there. I think it is very important to never go back on your word, though. If you say something, follow through, or else she won't know the true boundaries. I don't if that helps at all, but there is my opinion. Good luck!

Sounds great to me. So what do you say this Friday we record our weight and then every Friday after that, do a weigh-in? Haha I am loving the singing idea by the way. Let me know how that sounds. And if you are reading this, YOU TOO MELISSA. We are going to do this thing. Laughing

Well that sounds awesome. I have tried a billion times to lose weight, but every other girl in my family is as skinny as a twig, so I have no one to do it with. So this will be good for me. How do you guys want to do this then? Have a weigh in on certain days or something? Write back with other ideas if you have them.

PS What makes you so motivated? I would love to know your secret.
