Weight Loss Lose 30 Pounds Club Nov 12 2008

Can I join?  I am 30 and weigh about 150 (I will do a formal weigh-in tomorrow morning).  My goal is 120, I am 5'4".

I did CC back in January and got down to 138, but the summer (and too many parties and not enough will power) came and then I just got discouraged and spiraled down hill.  I have started running again, but haven't lost.  I know it is the food.

I hope that getting back on here will help me.  I really want this to be my last stand against this self-defeating mentality.

I'm in!  I'm 30, with two kids.  I run/walk 4 miles three times a week.  I also was hitting the gym for strength-training two times a week until summer started.  That is when I noticed the down fall.  I had lost all of my second baby weight but wanted to lose 8 more to hit 130 and my pre-child weight.  After a summer of no lifting and a few two many late nights with great friends, I am back up to 146.

My biggest problem is that I start to see a difference relatively soon after losing those first 5-8 lbs and then get cocky and never lose those last 8 lbs.

Also, I would recommend everyone trying to get measured and get a body fat assessment if you belong to a gym.  Those indicators are more important than weight.  Back in the spring, I gained a pound in one month, but had last 3 inches and 2% body fat.  Muscle does weigh more than fat!  I always have to remind myself that.

Weekly goals! They can be about weight loss or just life, but they're things that help keep you doing the things you want to be doing! You can have a max. of 4, and minimum of 2!

Weekly Goals: (for ex.):

I did Curves for a year and liked it.  I started to get bored by around 8 mths because I needed more of a challenge.  I would recommend it to get back into resistance training and I did tone up and lost 15 lbs in the 8 mths I went diligently.

Just make sure that you do cardio on the alternating days.

Good luck.

I am down another .2 to 148.8!  Yahoo!  I only have 4.8 pounds to get to my goal weight!!  Let's see - at .2 a week, it should take me 24 weeks. Wink

I think that is my current rate of weight loss too! Wink

Also, doesn't it stink how the weight comes off where it wants to, not where you want it too?  Even though I only have 8 more to lose, it is coming off my chest (which is now officially an A for the first time since 13) and my legs, not my baby belly, so I wonder if at my goal I will be pleased.

Oh well, I am feeling much healthier.

I also started a "biggest loser" with my mom's club and my team picked the hot mama's as our name.  I guess that makes me twice as hot!Kiss

Hey Mommas-

I know it isn't weigh in day, but I had to share.  I am finally at pre-baby #2 weight!!  Only 21 mths later, but I am thrilled.  I have 6 more 'til pre-baby #1 and 2 more for a nice round number.

Thanks for giving me the accountability of the group!

Alright, ladies, I have been avoiding this because I haven't been consistent the last few weeks with my counting, but I have picked up the exercise.  I weighed myself today and I FINALLY got to "pre-baby #2 weight" of 138!  I have 6 more until "pre-baby #1" and 2 after that for a nice round number.

I wanted to be to my goal by next weekend, that would have been 2lbs/week.  I am very slightly disappointed, but I am encouraged by having not gained any back.

Everyone keep up the good work and be positive about all the positive lifestyle changes you are making with each bite and step!

Hi-

I'm 5'5", 139 and a size 4 or 6.  My goals is 130 as well.  It really depends on how you lose the weight and where.  Good luck, I won't ever be wearing a bikini again, so enjoy while you can!

It is possible.  Probably a lot of it is water weight, but it is still gone.  I have lost as much as 8 lbs in a week when I made a dramatic change (like exercising every day and going on South Beach).  Don't expect that pace to keep up, but congrats and keep up the great work!

Wow, Waddope!  Under 140!! How many more to goal?

Jenprays, I seriously hear you on the greasy food - one bad meal after a week of eating healhty makes you realise you don't HAVE to be that hard on your stomach.

Thanks!  My goal is 130, so 9.2 left!  Feeling good since I had stalled for two weeks.

Congrats to everyone on their losses!  Great work.

I am looking for my motivation.  I started back to work after over 3 years home with my kids on Jan 14th and I am having a really hard time sticking with the calories.  I do fine all day and then I work from 2-7 so I'm getting really hungry and either stopping at Burger King or eating seconds if my husband makes dinner at home.

I have lost .2 lbs in 3 weeks and know why, but need suggestions/motivation.

 Thanks!

Karen, congrats on the weight loss!

My weight can vary up to 5 lbs between the morning and night as well, I think most people are like that.  It is a combo of the undigested food in your stomach, the fluids you are drinking, the water you may retain due to sodium intake, etc...

Keep up the great work everyone!

oh, and i forgot to ask...does anyone here belong to curves or has belonged in the past?  i was considering it as an option for exercise.

I just dropped my membership, but went for a little over a year.  It was good for me because it was quick and mindless.  You don't find yourself standing there and thinking, "what should I do today?", you just do the circuit and get out of there.

I lost 15.5 lbs and 18 inches the first 8 months without changing my diet at all, and have kept it all off.  That was going twice a week and walking three times a week.  I would recommend it to anyone, but don't expect it to work if you aren't willing to carve out the 2-3 times a week to go.

I left because they don't have child care and my workout buddy who would watch my girls while I went, wasn't into it anymore.  Get a trial membership and check it out!

Laughing Who is feeling good about their efforts?  You all should be!  Remember that every 3500 calories you are not eating or are burning off by exercise should be a pound lost.

If you are really keeping track of both, it will help you to know where your mistakes are.  Don't beat yourself up for a "cheat day"  but get back on the wagon.  We can all do this and be a new (slightly smaller) person by the end of January.  I see a lot of us have already made the 5 lbs this month, so keep up the good work!Laughing

Great Job lin27!  I have also lost 4 since the 2nd.  I think we just eat so mindlessly in normal life that when we actually pay attention it isn't as hard as we thought.

Keep up the great work everyone!

I like the challenge of 2-5 by the end of Jan.  Is that from now until then, or since the beginning of Jan?  I vote for the latter, since I lost 4 this week :)

My exercise goal is to do something every day, even if it is only 15 min of pilates.  Today is the first day I've missed, but it was my first day back to work after 3 yrs of being home with my kids.  So, I chose to put them to bed and relax.  I'll walk longer tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone and keep up the GREAT work!

Changing your exercise routine is the best idea, but don't change your diet too much.  Eating well is always a good idea, but keep your calories up.  I was still nursing my first when I got pregnant with my second and the calorie distribution helped me not to gain weight in my first trimester, but unfortunately my daughter gained NO weight between 9 mths and 12 mths.  Even though my milk was there, it must not have had the nutrition she needed.  You don't want that Dr's visit, trust me!

Just be careful and maybe ask your OB or your child's pediatrician.

Hi all-

I've been on CC for a few months off and on for the last year.  I'm currently 5'6 144 and 29.  I'm hoping to reach 130.  I turn 30 in May and I really would like to be in shape so the big 3-0 won't hit me as hard....

I'm also training for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago which is in the end of May.  I'm hoping that will be more than enough incentive to help me get in shape and lose weight...

 Kelly-

You and are in exactly the same boat.  My goal is 130 by my 30th in July.  I weighed in at 143.8 on Sunday.  Let's make those goals together!

That's great that you are doing the Breast Cancer walk.  I walked in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Philly last Oct and it was awesome!  Brutal, but awesome.  Just be careful cutting calories close to the walk.  You really need the carbs for those training walks.  I lost some about 3 months before, but once my training walks got over 10 miles, I plateaued because of how much food I had to eat to avoid passing out.  I had to train over the summer though, so that stunk.

Good luck and congrats on taking on such an amazing challenge and rewarding experience in the walk.

I am weighing in today at 163. Waddope, how did you manage to lose three pounds in under a week?  That's fabulous.  Yesterday, I worked my butt off at the gym and felt great.  Ready to go back today!

I may have been bloated from the New Year's Party the night before my initial weigh-in?  I am lucky that anytime I make a change in calories or exercise, I get a great initial loss.  It is the plataeu that always gets me.  I bet that I'll get to 140 or so and stall, but we'll see.

I am sticking to 1200 calories and exercising every day.  Nothing major, but making sure I do at least 20 min/day.  I used to beat myself up if I didn't have at least an hour and then I would quit.  I figure that something is better than nothing.

I am really excited about this group and would certainly be up for the challenge that was mentioned.  Would % of weight lost, like on The Biggest Loser, be the best way?  What do you all think?

Alright ladies, here we go!  My weigh-in was 143.8, down 3.2 since Tuesday!  Feeling good, but trying to keep the goal in mind.  13.8 to go.  Alright, off to bundle up the kids and head to the zoo, it's actually above 40 for once!  Hopefully chasing them around will count as my exercise today.

Let's start with a weigh-in tomorrow and post it.  Then we can update every Sunday.  For those of us trying to cut down on drinking (not me-  I need to start that back up!  Kids are way too stressful :) ) it will motivate you not to drink too much on Saturday or you'll ruin the weigh-in.

 What does everyone think?

This seems like the group for me.  I am 29, 5'5" and 145 lbs.  I want to be 130 by my 30th.  I haven't dieted much, just the South Beach four years ago when I wanted to shed a few pounds before getting pregnant.  I have had two girls in the last 3 years, both by c-section, so my exercise routine has suffered.  I have lost 29 lbs slowly over the last 18 mths, but want to shed that last 15 by July.

I think we should have weekly weigh-ins and post the results, a lot of other groups are doing that.   Or we could log our calories/activity daily, whatever works for all.

Lets do it!

Hi everyone!  My name is Kare and I am still hanging on to my 20's, barely.  My goal is to be 130 by the time I'm 30 in July.  I started at 147 on the 1st and I'm down to 144.8 yesterday.  Hopefully I'll make it to 130 well before my birthday.

Currently I'm sticking to 1200 calories/day and making sure that I exercise everyday.  I used to not exercise unless I had an hour or two straight, but with 2 kids under 4, a part-time job and all my charity work, I have decided that a 20 minute Pilates video is better than nothing, and I refuse to feel guilty that it wasn't longer.

Weight Loss Would anyone like to join a last 10 lbs club with me?? Jan 04 2008

Is it too late to join you ladies?  I actually have about 14.8 left to go, but am encouraged because I lost 2.2 in the last 3 days.  I am 5'5" and 144.8.  I have had two kids by c-section in the last 3 yrs, so I have struggled to get the last of the baby weight off and with each surgery/pregnancy I lose valuable time.  My goal is 130.

Let me know if I can join you.

Thanks!
