Motivation Fell off the bandwagon for a few weeks, looking to start over May 08 2008

I have the same problem and am recently trying to get back on track.  Things that I'm trying to help:

1 - Logging everything I eat - that way the impacts of those "sneaky bites" are visible.

2 - Also logging activities to help me see how many calories are actually burned by doing simple things like gardening and yard work even.

3 - A lot of people work towards a weekly weigh-in, which is what I do as well.  But I find if I don't check in during the week I get distracted.  This isn't a good idea for everyone as the daily fluctuations can be disappointing - I just use it as a way to remind myself that I'm getting closer to weigh-in day and I have to keep focus!

4 - I also do the same as what sexything noted - understand the calories and therefore amount of time required to burn off for my favourite cheating foods.  Makes me think twice about eating it :-)

Good luck!  And congrats on the progress so far.

I would discuss that with your doctor - you wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize the babies so your doc would know best :-)

Hi everyone - I guess it's weigh-in day!  I hope everyone is doing well (congrats demila on the 1lb!)

I am at 153 today, so down 1.5 lb :-)  Good first week but I better keep at it - going to start working out in the mornings starting tomorrow.

J-Fizz - first of all - your profile pic is georgeous, I hope you realize that you are very pretty.  I know how it feels when things don't fit right anymore and I've been brought to tears myself over the past few years.  (Ah yes, even cried a little on the weekend as I was wedding dress shopping - why are most of the sizes in the shops size 8 or smaller? Darn stores!  I choose to get angry at the stores instead of myself ;-)

However - there's nothing better than the feeling of taking control and starting to see progress towards ones goals - no matter what those goals might be.  You just need to start small as others have said - focus on the positive and celebrate milestones.  I just lost 5 lbs so I treated myself to some new makeup.  Feel proud of yourself because you deserve to!

There's a lot of support on here for you if you need help to start planning, or some suggestions on delicious but good foods to have.  I challenge myself to get an "A" in my nutrional analysis each day, but don't beat myself up on the days that I don't.  I also love being able to see the make up of the food I am eating so I can ensure I'm getting enough fibre, calcium, iron, etc. and keeping my sodium down - there are a lot of good tools for you to focus on and use :-)  Let us know if you need any help!  We are here for you!

Weight Loss How often do you weigh yourself Jan 12 2008

I weigh myself everyday, mostly to maintain focus on my goals (I find when I go a day or two without weighing, those are the days I'll slip on watching what I am eating).  As everyone else has said - weighing yourself daily you'll see ups and downs so depends on whether you will find that motiviating or de-motivating.  I find it motivating as it helps me understand how what I am eating (high sodium days!) affects my body.  I look at my average loss over the week and have weekly goals though so I dont' drive myself crazy.

I was always told you should only weigh yourself once a week, but I think everyone needs to find what works for them and stick with it.

 Hope this helps!

I think anytime you are cutting out food groups in your diet, you are doing something unwise.  For a day or two cleanse, maybe it is a viable option, but not for dieting.  Dieting should be a healthy lifestyle change and doing something like that - you are certainly missing key components of a healthly diet, even if done for a week.

Hi there, I think there are a lot of us with similar situations :-)  I am just about 32, 5'4 and 157 lbs - looking to get to 130 lbs for my wedding in July and have just started back on counting calories - I had done so before and was successful, but sadly didn't keep it up!  Oops :-)

Looking forward to keeping track with you all and working towards our goals!

Good luck everyone!

I'm new as well, so I won't be too useful with the technical questions - but please send me a message any time you need to and I will do the same if you don't mind :-)
Weight Loss What is everyone eating :) Jan 04 2008

Just had a delicious lunch based on a weight watchers recipe:

1/2 Pita

1/4 cup Hummus

1/4 cup diced celery

1/2 cup alfalfa

2 oz light cheddar cheeze (I didn't even put 1 oz on as 2 seemed excessive - found the sandwich was likely tasty without this item and will likely skip it next time)

Hi everyone, another Canuck here - just joined up yesterday and am loving the site.  Have tried others with fees, and this one is even better than those and I love getting "grades" on my nutrition :-)

Looking forward to getting to know everyone better and working torwards all of our goals.

I am soon to be 32 and wish I had listened to everyone who said "once you hit 30, you can't eat like that anymore" - 40 pounds heavier I am letting them say "told you so" :-)

I have a wedding coming up in July this year, and I'm hoping to feel and look my best that day - so I have about 6 months to lose my goal of 30 lbs to get down to 130 lbs.  I love cooking so I'm looking forward to browsing through the recipes and coming up with some better, healthier options for myself.
