Original Post by gi-jane: Or eat only sticks of butter (salted) - I think that is an F - hey, a day of vodka and butter sticks - yummy!! That would be an interesting challenge - kindof like a mini "Supersize Me" - a day where you could only consume F graded foods and see how physically awful you felt from it. Sorry for lackof posting but work has been crazy - I wonder if the oncoming holiday season is one of the reasons people are not so chatty in the team forums. It is good to hear what people are going through, so don't be shy to post. For exercise, I usually do the elliptical for anywhere between 30 and 45 min. I used to go on long bikes ride once a week on the weekends but I am less motivated to go with the colder weather - I am going to make myself go this weekend though. Jen - I love your idea of a race a month - do they host those in the winter months where you are from? I know one site that has helped encouraged me in exercise/weight loss - beyond CC - has been mapmyrun.com - I love logging/tracking my exercise on their tool and mapping out good places to go around my area and seeing what others do. The also have minigoals that you can set up to "nag" you daily/weekly. I wish this site could get into a deal with them to integrate their tools. |

Advice: learn to love and respect yourself. You said you just want to move on, so at least you recognize that - trust your instincts. Be honest with yourself and others - if you had time to upload a photo and create a profile today, then you had time for basic punctuation. |

Hope everybody is doing OK! I imagine you have noticed there is a new challenge up - good luck with deficits! If you don't get back in here before Thursday, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving focused on the most important part - meeting up with families and friends. |

Green team - so sorry for the gain. I am committing to not having it happen again!! Unfortunately this challenge started on a vacation week for me. Not a good enough excuse, but there it is. |

Welcome Jen, Ash, Nikki, Romilla, and Augette! I hope everybody is doing better than me! I have been doing well on water but I have been on vacation for the past 5 days and have totally blown my calories, etc. - I am actually submitting this from Orlando airport since my flight got delayed. I did not do as well being away from home and indulged in all my local favorites. But, I am ready to come back strong this coming week - yay, cardio! Cece |

OK - I will go first on intros. My name is Cece. I am 38 and I live in the DC area. I have been overweight basically my whole life. For some reason - right timing/etc, in December 2005, I decided to give myself a shot at counting my calories and see what it did. I committed to logging, etc. and gave myself 21 days to try and change my behavior. Over the following year I lost about 85 pounds. The last 15 to get to 180 (my first serious goal) were more challenging but happened by summer 2008. After that, I started to gain my weight back, sadly adding back on 30 pounds over the year. I decided to get back on track around July 4th of this year and have lost 15 of those pounds again. I am back under 200 and proceeding towards being back to my first goal. Challenges like these have helped me out in the past. This is my second BLC and first as a captain. My team won the last one and it would be awesome to have back to back wins!! Come on, we can do it!! |

I am still glad to be in if I still can - my starting weight will be difficult - I am currently on vacation and not at home. But I will "own up" to my end weight of 197.4 although I feel I have done some serious harm over the last three days. Maybe it will help "shock" a plateau?? |

I am managing to cope through some stressful times at work that are chewing up my time and sapping my energy that I usually need to get me to the gym, which is why I am still losing but not so fast. Going on vacation tomorrow - getting out of the cold/rainly northeast to Florida (hopefully sunny - haven't had time to check weather though). That should be a nice present for these 10 weeks! |

I would like to be in the next round. I am in however it is done. I don't need a week off myself. I am fine with keeping challenges - as a team member, I feel like people should try to do whatever they want/can and not about whether they got challenge points or not. What I liked was trying to see if I could get challenge points as a fun way of focusing on various things that are important to weight loss. |

Due in part to these two S&L I have managed to get back into better habits, and my ratio of good to bad days (as far as calories in and exercise) has gone from 1:9 to 9:1 - ROAR! 2. I am finding ways to diversify my exercise and have gone on some really great bike rides locally here in DC - quite a few that were in the 2 hr range - ROAR! 3. I also struggle with Diet Coke addiction but have gotten down from 8 -10 per day to get 3 - which is likely saving me some money- ROAR! |

Thanks so much to everyone for the congratulations!! It really means a lot. I actually weighed in a pound lower this morning too so I am glad that it is still going down! It is nice to get congrats from people who are so amazing in their weight loss and good health habits and help inspire me to keep the good work going. I am hoping others who feel that their weight loss is stalled right now or that they don't have encouragement from people can ride out the plateaus and know that their goals are attainable. I would advise at any moment, to not be so hung up on the number. I think I am still slowly realizing that it is truly embracing healthy eating habits and regular exercise as key parts of your life that is the point of all this, not necessarily a magic number/weight that you feel you should be. OK, having said that, I am super glad and excited to consistently be seeing a number that begins with one; so I think it is something quite a few people can not dismiss easily. And thanks again - it is really nice to have the support of people who can understand the excitement and who are going through the same process. |

My new find was Clif bars. I started doing the occasional long bike ride and needed something small, filling, but healthy to make sure I could get home (hee). Energy bars I had tried years before were gross. But various people on here in the fitness forums mentioned the name so I tried them a couple of months ago. They are so good - more so when you are hungry for an energy boost but the two I really love (Oatmeal Raisin Walnut and Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch) taste good even when you are not hungry. I find that if I include a bar, it almost always makes my food grade better for the day. They are high in carbs but have 5 g fiber and 11 g of protein. They taste like really solid oaty cookies. They make me want to have an excuse (i.e. high calorie burn trip) to have an "energy" bar. |

And that my sodium does not read higher, but I have really bad sodium days. The other is too high (that means I went out and guesstimated calories). My iron and Calcium are usually too low but I do take supplements for both. I am actually pleased with the percentage split (well, except for alcohol but I don't feel I am excessive with it). |

Team: Blue I think I hit a plateau - but my cardio decreased last three days too. Not sure why I wouldn't still be losing as I managed at least a 300 deficit except for one day. I am guessing it is just a slight stall - hopefully next week will prove that. I can't live without my sodium!! Hee! This challenge week will be hard for me. |

For this week's challenge. My recipe is a modification of a recipe on the back of the Quaker Medium Pearled Barley box that is called "Chicken and Barley Chili". I love it, it is a staple of mine, and it is great in fiber content (between 7 and 10 g fiber per 290 calorie serving). Its only slight drawback is the sodium content if you use all canned products, but if you buy low sodium varieties and try using frozen or fresh vegetables, then you can reduce the salt content. I usually make it on Saturday or Sunday and freeze half of the servings and spread it out over two weeks - i.e. it freezes well. Also, I usually use about a pound versus 1.5 pounds of chicken, but the recipe works well with either way.
