Hi everyone!  I hope there is room for one more dieter.  I was a religious calorie counter last year and lost 32 pounds in about 2.5 months (by March of 2008).  Then it all went downhill:  I lost my job, moved, blah, blah, blah. . .Let's just say I am back to exactly where I started.  Here we go with round 2.  I really want to lose about 100 pounds when all is said and done, but right now I want to lose 10, and then 10 more, and then 10 more. . .I turn 30 this year, and would like to spend this next phase of my life being happy with myself, instead of trying to hide myself.

I have this great vision of myself when I reach my ultimate goal.  Isn't if funny that as bad as we want to reach this goal, and as unhappy as we (most of us) are with how we look now, it is soooooo hard to create a plan and just STICK WITH IT? 

Wish me luck with this round. . .

Diva and Mahogany--Thank you for your prayers.  As for the limitations, we don't really know yet, it seems as though the doctors are keeping us in the dark and want us to take it one day at a time.  He is pretty frustrated right now. 

Diva--Listen to your sisterfriend...An accident is one thing, but knowingly getting behind the wheel intoxicated is just wrong and he should be punished.  I don't know the details of the accident, but what if he got off and did it again, possibly killing someone? Anyhoo, that is just my 2 cents.  I hope all goes well for you.

Hi everyone! 

Sorry I have been away, but we have had a crisis at home. On Monday I took my husband to the local hospital 'cuz we thought he had food poisoning.  Turns out he had been having a heart attack since Friday.  They airlifted him down to Robert Packer in PA and he ended up needing an internal defibrillator put into his heart.  He is only 35!! So, last week was pretty stressful.  He is home now and doing great, but he has a long road ahead.  All prayers are welcome.

Anyway, somehow I managed to have a slight loss even while eating the nasty hospital food and having no exercise. This morning I saw 237.6 for a total loss so far of 28 pounds. It's going slow, but somewhat steady.

I finally reached one of my mini-goals and am down in the 30's

This week: 238.8

Finally! This new number has got me motivated all over again, which is good, cuz I sure needed it!

TGIF!!!!

So the kids and I went to Friendly's the other night and pigged out on ice cream sundaes to celebrate the 65 degree weather. (any excuse for an ice cream sundae, right?)  So, in light of that, I am actually really surprised that I lost this week, although not much:

Last Friday: 240.6

This Friday: 240.0

I'll take it...I thought for sure I would see it creep up instead of down...

Jean--Keep us posted, it sounds like a great program, and I have been tempted to try it, just can't fit it into the budget right now.

Diva- I hope your eye feels better soon.

Good morning all!!  Where is everyone?

I had my own confirmation that I am losing weight.  I went out and bought a pair of knee high boots, which 3 months ago, I could only zip half way.  Now they fit perfect!!  This must be one of my best moments so far. This is the motivation I so desperately need right now.

Okay, I have a rant.  Last week, I overindulged in the dreaded Easter basket.  I said as much to my *wonderful* husband, and he said "yeah, I've noticed".  He wasn't being completely serious, just picking, but come on!! Did he miss the class where they teach you to lie to your wife to spare her feelings?  Sheesh, just when you think you have them trained!!Tongue out

Still working to get down into the 230's. Unfortunately, I have to backtrack, because 2 weeks ago I was at 241.  Oh well, you play you pay, right?

Hi everyone.

Sorry I have been MIA...I am in protest of my diet this last week. Easter food, easter candy...I have been too afraid to step on a scale for a week.  When I did, I saw that I gained 2 pounds. I am slacking, and I know it. 

Any encouragement or prayers are always welcome!! I know I will be back on track soon, I am just in a funk.

Diva- I have noticed that I have not been drinking nearly enough water.  I bought a 12 pack of Diet Pepsi this weekend.  I am fine without soda, but when I have it, it is all I drink.  NO MORE!!  I am on water only this week.  My eating has been better than usual, but no loss last week.

I am bummed, but I didn't go to the gym once this week, and haven't been drinking nearly enough water.   I have been logging all my food, though, which is actually under my daily deficit, so the exercise and water must be it.  Well, better luck next week.  Spring is coming, and is such a motivation!!

Yay!! It's Friday....finally.

Last week: 244.8

This week: 241.8

3 pounds this week!! I must admit, I was getting pretty discouraged with myself the last couple of weeks.  This week I fit my exercise in, ate right, and logged EVERYTHING.  I realize that I just am not disciplined enough to try and wing it without logging.  

I didn't get bold with adding a new twist on my exercise, I just added weights to my walking.  I bought some 5 pound ankle weights, and though it doesn't seem like much, it made quite a difference.  I could really feel it in my legs, especially uphill.

My goal for this month is to get to the 30's, preferably low 30's, but at this point I will take anything I can get!

Hi everyone!

Has this been a REALLY long week, or is it just me?  I got myself back on track this week, and I am actually excited to weigh in tomorrow.  Unlike usual, I have held off on weighing myself throughout the week.  Hopefully my good choices will reflect on the scale tomorrow morning.  The last 2 weeks I have been weighing myself throughout the week, and have been discouraged.  I know things will be different this week.

TGIF!!

 What a week! I have never been so happy to see that I only lost a half a pound.  I thought for sure that I would have gained at least 3 pounds this week.

Last week:  245.4

This week:  244.8

Next week I am taking control again.  If all goes well, I will be reporting a nice loss.

P.S.  Diva--thank you for your prayers.  She is in quite a bit of pain, but so far she seems to be managing it well.

Happy Thursday all!

 Sorry I haven't been posting, but I've had a crazy week.  My sister was in a car accident over the weekend, and is pretty beat up.  She broke her back, 4 ribs, sternum, clavicle, and punctured her lung.  She was in the trauma unit up in Syracuse till yesterday, which is why I haven't been on.  She was actually very lucky.  There is no possibility of paralysis, and she should heal up fine.  Long road to recovery though.  

On another note, I have been afraid to step on the scale all week, because living on hospital cafeteria food is not all that healthy.  You would think it would be given that it is a health center!

Diva--I am in awe of you!! Congratulations on your determination and faith!  You truly are an inspiration.

only .8 pounds, but actually better than I expected.  I didn't make it to the gym at all this week, and have made some pretty bad food choices earlier in the week.  I cleaned myself up by Tuesday, but I MUST stop indulging on the weekends.  I am fine all week, but once Friday hits, I don't know what happens.  Oh well...next week I am shooting for 3 pounds.

Steph--I don't really know what you like, but here goes:

Brown rice cooked with 1/2 low-sodium, ff chicken or beef broth and 1/2 water gives it much nicer flavor

roasted veggies:

diced potatoes, onion, parsnip, carrots, asparagus..toss with a bit of extra virgin olive oil and salt and pepper-cook at 450 till tender (great on the rice)

I slice mine into tenders so they cook quicker. Season with lemon, pepper, salt...whatever you like...cook at 350 till done..simple

Most important, don't be afraid to experiment. If it doesn't turn out, try something else.  It is a learning process for me too.  I use my family as guinea pigs for my cooking experiments!

Happy Thursday everyone...

Diva--let me know how your new scale works when you get it.  I have seen them and have always been curious.

I just wanted to share this...I went to Applebee's last week for lunch, and they have an awesome menu for those trying to lose weight.  It is Weight Watchers, but it tells you exactly how many calories are in the entrees.  I was so excited, cuz usually I try to guesstimate when I go out, and always think I am guessing too low.

Anyhoo...I'll check in tomorrow...Have a great Thursday!

 TGIF...This week has been sooo long!

3.2 pounds...It was a tough week, last week I really slacked off, so this week I was extra tough on myself, and it really paid off.  Almost at my 20 pound mark.

jean--I was thrown into the same situation with my present job.  I work for a lawyer, and he hired me right on the spot and threw me into the office with no background information or training.  It took me almost 4 months to figure everything out on my own, but it is possible.  I feel your pain!

Happy Monday all!!

I HATE WINTER...It was 2 degrees last night and this morning. I woke up to frozen pipes. Brrrr...Supposed to get about 7 inches tomorrow. I can't wait till May.

DIVA--congrats on the training with hubby! I would say somewhere between 5 and 5:30 would be okay to eat. Let me know how it goes.

2 pounds! It has been a rollercoaster week.  My weight has been fluctuating up and down all week.  Stupid superbowl!! Beer, lasagna, bread, dip....Wasn't worth the stress of my weigh ins all week!

I have found that it is very motivational for me to track all of my cals.  For the first week, I tried writing it down, but soon gave that up in frustration and impatience.  CC is great b/c it tracks it for me and shows my daily progress.  I am down 15 pounds so far, the most I have ever intentionally tried to lose.

I also do not track on weekends.  I know deep down what is good and bad, too much or just enough.  It is whether I choose to listen to my inner "me" that I gain weight.  For example, Super Bowl Sunday I made a huge lasagna and totally ignored the inner me.  Along with bread, dip, beer, blah, blah....I weighed in on Monday a pound and a half up!

I have to let myself cheat every once in a while, otherwise, I think I would fail.

Motivation I have NO (ZERO, ZILCH, NADA) willpower on weekends!!!! :( Feb 05 2008

Every weekend is a battle for me too!  I am the only one in my family dieting, so the others sometimes don't understand that I can't just pull into McDonalds.  I have reached the point though, (usually) where I can reflect long enough to know that eating that one Big Mac with fries undoes all my work of the prior week.  That one meal is over my entire day's limit.  This usually works, unless it is TOM or I am starving.  I try not to leave my house hungry on the weekends, because it is easier to keep control.
