I was (still am sometimes) very naive about how close minded and judgemental people can be here in the US. At my first office job, I dressed conservatively, but I really experimented with my hair because we operated a call center, no face to face interaction with the public at all. I had a blue, then green, then I tried pink mohawk. Then I let it grow and dyed it black and white. One of the corporate dudes came down to visit and was very impressed by our office. About a week later, everyone underwent a random drug test. No biggie, I'm clean. A few years later when I was leaving the company I found out that the bigwig had requested that I specifically be included in the drug test because no sober person would wear their hair like that. If you ever want to hold a job with a small company, a large company, almost any company that does business with the public, or any company that does business internationally, you need to be prepared to be able to be 100% conservative at a moments notice. ETA: Go for the tattoo, just be aware that you will need to cover it up at some point in time. |

Original Post by trancebaby: Whoa...So not all "stuffing" is like this? THANK GOD! Lol, I despise the stuffing that is present at our family's TG and never understood why anyone would eat it. Hmmm, maybe I do like normal stuffing and just don't know it yet. Thanksgiving is the one time a year when both sides of my family can get together drama-free (so far anyway) and catch up and remember old times and plan future get-togethers that never really happen cause everyone's too busy, but it's really nice to think that we can all stay in touch that often, so they get planned anyway. |

I can be a witch to deal with, tempermental at times. I'm ambitious and really don't mind if you ride my coat tails. I'm...I'm just who I am and I like it. Physically...I may be 30 lbs. overweight, but I'm hot. Seriously. DH made a very good choice. Then again, I could just be delusional :) |

Original Post by augustnkate: Go for it. We had ours done when we were on our honeymoon. We can't wear our bands at work and I guess it's just the kind of people we are. We like tattoos, I would really prefer not to brand myself with someone's name. Our bands are similar, but not identical. They both have an infinity symbol incorporated, but mine is slightly more delicate looking than his. |

Anything I do to my body has one root reason (for me, individually): expression. Anything I do to my hair, the way I apply my makeup, the piercings, the tattoos, the clothes I wear and how I wear them. All of these are ways of expression. As far as tattoos are concerned, my skin is a canvas just waiting for more ink. I feel that socially, morally, and culturally our world is turning grey and I refuse to be anything but a unique individual. |

Wow...That would get old. Does your friend have children of her own? Maybe she's just not accustomed to infants and doesn't realize it's OK to continue adult conversation? Or maybe this is how she's seen people treat kids? My advice would be to see if you could get her in a group situation with the baby and see if she eases up. Or maybe make no-baby dates with her so that you can still enjoy being friends without the baby talk. |

Original Post by alibsam: This is my first semester here, so I'm really trying to give it a chance. I've absolutely considered talking to the dean of the college of business. About the other students...They're really young and in their first or second year. Some really care about it, most of them would prefer to get out as early as possible even if we cover absolutely no material. |

What's sad is, the class is fairly small, only about 20 students. And I'm not the only one that drives. There are two other ladies who make the same drive twice a week. About emailing her for assignments, the one time I missed class because the interstate was closed, I emailed her for what was covered in class. She responded with one line: Chapter 7. OK, yeah, it says that on the syllabus? The best part is, this woman is teaching a business communication class. I totally understand that usually when people are wary of you taking too many classes, they're just looking out for your best interests. I'd just never had so many people be so discouraging about it, and they all work for the school. I've had professors I just absolutely hated before. I know I'll probably run into more. I think I'm just fed up with what I feel is their unwillingness to do what I'm paying them to do (probably a little sensitive about the $$$, paying completely out of pocket). I hope at least before I graduate I'll find someone at this college who gives a crap. |

I've never liked stuffing. It's disgusting, it's gross, it's cruel to even bring that crap to a table with so much other yummy stuff. |

I'm a dork and I love browsing the Martha Stewart website. There are some really cool crafts ideas on there. This year, I'm making some felt slippers for some of the women/girls in my family and found the pattern and directions on that site. Maybe you could even do homemade granola/energy bars since I know that shopping like that can be tiring. Package them all cute and stuff. |

You know what's weird is that this happens to me about once a week. And what's sad is, I even have a mid-morning snack (fiber one bar) because I have breakfast between 5-6AM, and lunch between 11-12. Sometimes even the fiber one bar doesn't cut through the food thoughts. I usually just make sure I'm super super busy, or walking and not at my desk. |

Original Post by jules817: I agree with all of this. When I was 60 lbs. heavier, the only tops I wore were XXL t-shirts, sometimes XL. I made sure that my rolls were never that visible (to me anyway). I'm still overweight, but I'm OK enough with my smaller rolls, that yeah, I'll wear a snugger fitting top. I'm not talking Gus-Gus from the Cinderella movie tight, just closer fitting. To each their own, but I think we all know when that line of bad taste has been crossed (again peopleofwalmart.com). |

Not enough info to judge either way. You weren't in her shoes that day, so there's really no way to say you would NEVER do ANYTHING like that. Kids today can be beyond horrible. Also, for the people who seem to think that regardless of what your kid ever does no one should ever have the right to punish them (obviously duct tape isn't usually :) acceptable), my heart goes out to your kids. I really dislike parents who think their kids can do no wrong, or that the "disruptive" behavior that you get called about on a daily basis isn't as bad as they're making it out to be. The moral of the story is that we need more money for school teachers to make it worth not only having their educational degree but also a degree in child psychology to be able to teach in today's schools. Because in today's schools, education has taken a back seat to teachers having to 'parent' children because they certainly don't get it at home. |

Oh wow, I really hate it for you, but I don't think you'll be getting anything back. I did the same thing with my first place and didn't sign a lease and towards the end of my stay in the place it was absolute hell and so was moving out. Without a written contract/lease, I'm not sure what recourse you have. |

Oh wow. That's ridiculous. Really sounds like they weren't straight-forward with you about what they would consider attendance. I'm taking online college classes this semester to be able to continue to work full-time. I have about 3 days a week where I can devote about five hours to classses and that might be it for the week, but then that's it. All of classes have varying levels of what they consider "attendance," but the most rigorous is still only logging on three times a week. Good luck! |

I saw this wino, he was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to wait." Best one of all time, in my humble opinion :). I can't read his stuff without hearing him in my head. It's addictive and I've yet to find anyone that I think is as freakin funny as him. |

OP, love the photo. To me it's quirky and wonderful. kathygator, I got married a year ago and when we were choosing our photographer, all of the packages included "bridal portraits." I'd never heard of this, and turns out, it's kinda a southern thing. It's a session where the photographer photographs just the bride in her dress. Edit: just saw above post...Maybe it's not so much southern as I'd been led to believe :) |

I agree with moodymamma, it depends on what your natural hair color is. If your hair is too dark, you might not get the blonde color you want. The red you're looking at is INCREDIBLE! If your hair is naturally dark, maybe consider going to a caramel brown instead of all the way blonde. I don't know that I would do the red at home after you've gotten the blonde done professionally, only because I think it might be too easy to end up with some of that blonde dyed red. |
