she asked in the title and in the first sentence for people with experience with the product to give their opinion. that is what she asked for. there is no reason for you to come in and give your unqualified and unasked-for opinion.

The NSI Carb Blockers are intended to be used occasionally, only when you know you are about to "cheat" and have a starchy meal, like spaghetti or something. They are supposed to help keep your blood sugar levels from spiking so that the starchy meal won't mess with your appetite, and also to prevent some of the carbs from turning into energy (fat). It is intended to be used occasionally. Also it is an extremely inexpensive supplement, considering how much some of them can cost, and is probably cheaper (and def more convenient) than eating a cup of kidney beans before dinner.

Are we not so sick of people preaching on this website? If anyone asks any question about any supplement or alternative approach to weight loss, they will immediately be berated. It's really obnoxious. And boring.

Hooray!!! Yesterday I went back to the gym for the first time since I hurt my ankle (2.5 weeks ago!). I was only able to do about 25 minutes of weight training and I had lost a lot of strength, but I was glad to be back in the gym. I also only ate 958 calories, which I know is not enough, but I am still happy that I was able to control myself. I was at 800 at like 10 pm, and so I had some crackers and cheese to get a few more cals but there was no real reason to force myself to eat more as I was climbing into bed. Today I have plans w some friends to have dinner and drinks, and I won't get a chance to exercise. So I feel like it's ok to have one really low cal day since today will likely be much higher.

Tomorrow I will be back at the gym, hopefully I can do a little more this second time.

Also I weighed myself in the locker room and it said 141! Which puts me back on track. Hope the gym scale is right...

My ankle is still sore and I can't do any activities yet per my doctor but today I am starting the 100 pushup challenge so that should help. Anyone want to do it with me?

We can do it!!

My ankle is still too sore to do much cardio too. I am finally going to go back to the gym today for the first time in two weeks! My plan is to do some lifting on the machines, some ab work, and then sit in the sauna. What is the 100 push up challenge?

Today I weigh 144, which is more than I weighed when I started this thread, but less than I weighed late last week. I know I am going the right direction-- will finally get back to the gym this weekend and I've been eating really well. I am expecting to be down to 142 or even 140 by this time next week. To reach my goal of five pounds lost by Thanksgiving, I need to get to 137. I think I can do it! As long as my ankle keeps healing-- I wrenched it this morning hurrying down the stairs and it is more sore than it has been in a week. I hope this doesn't set me back.

And as far as regaining the weight with Thankgiving food... one meal isn't going to ruin anything. I plan to do a little more cardio for a few days before and a few days after, and it will all even out I'm sure.

Anyway, in a nutshell, I'm exhausted, sore, hungry, but optimistic.

checkin-in

ankle is still too sore to work out which is driving me nuts

but i have been really really good on my diet for three days, and i am expecting to have lots at least a pound if two by our weigh in tomorrow! i am feeling pretty crummy today-- probably from all the toxins flushing out of my system now that i've suddenly cut out processed food and pop and stuff. it feels gross but it's gonna be so worth it.

Don't forget everybody: weigh in tomorrow!

Health & Support has anybody tried juice fasting detox?? Nov 06 2009

Original Post by zip2play:

Throughout history MANY people have fasted for many reasons...sometimes in meditation seeking a "higher purpose," sometimes to break old habits, and sometimes because there simply was no FOODCool .

I've tried it a couple times with a goal towards "clearing my mind" and perhaps seeing things differently...sort of quasi-spirituality. My problem is that by day 3 I get a MASSIVE headache that stops me in my tracks.

If you are going to fast remember, you will probably make your system VERY efficient once you go off it, so that may make continued weight loss difficult.

From everything I have read, any fasting should be WITHOUT food...only water. Reason I think juice fasting is silly or worse is that juice is SUGAR, a fast acting carbohydrate and little else. This screws with your insulin levels and blood sugar levels with a constant seesawing up and down. In a REAL fast the body regulates glucose levels and fat metabolism to a steady normal and keeps them there. The insulin response basically goes to sleep and hunger falls to zero.

This constancy and lack of hunger signals is what aids people in their fast and their meditation. With a steady stream of sweet juices, the body is in constant turmoil...a terrible diet with constant hunger.

Solid food digests slowly and thus is far better for our metabolism than juices.

And remember most of all...without food, we are dead in 60 days.

Thank you for an usually helpful post.

Weight Watchers ladies- don't be discouraged! My mother lost 120 lbs in a year and a half with weight watchers and is still going, but only about a pound a month now because her body is running so much more efficiently now.

So it's weigh-in day...

This morning I weighed 144 lbs, which is more than I weighed when I started this thread. I cannot wait to get back into the gym. Soon I hope! Dumb ankle...

How about you guys!

I think the thing with veganism is that you can't ask an animal if it's ok for you to take their meat or milk or skin or honey or whatever, so you don't take those things because you can't get their consent.

I'm pretty sure most guys would give their consent to guzzle their mustard, so... I'd say swallowing is vegan. But you're right some vegans would probably take issue with this. Unfortunately, veganism sometimes goes hand in hand with crazy.

Great to hear from all of you! How about we write a little bit about our situations to get acquainted. (I know some of us have already!)

I started off at 150, and I have been yoyoing between 145 and 136 for about two years now. I had just gotten back into the swing of things and was working out a lot and losing about a pound a week, and then I sprained my ankle last weekend running! I haven't been able to work out for 5 days, and I drowned my sorrows in Halloween candy of course! Over the weekend I regained the two pounds I had just lost and an extra one on top of that. I think I will be able to do some light exercise in just a couple more days (I HOPE!!!) but until then I am trying to keep my calories low to get back on track. Yesterday I knew I was going to have a couple of glasses of wine with my best friend so I hardly ate anything all day. Once I got to the restaurant I was s starving I ate 3 oz of tortilla chips and a few french fries on top of the wine, and ended up with an intake of 1750, which is about what I burn anyway. So I'll call yesterday a draw. Today I am focusing on eating healthier food-- an apple and tea for breakfast, a salad w/ tuna for lunch, muscle milk lite for a snack (I really need protein, had hardly any yesterday!), and I don't know what for dinner, maybe a bean and vegetable dish...

Anyway, that's where I'm at. How about you? Laughing

What should I eat with them?

I mean I know I need protien and fat and vitamins and all that, and I get a pretty good mix. I keep good track.

But I've heard that what you eat within each meal is important, like I should eat X with X to get the most out of each. I don't know much about that. Help?

I have been iron-deficient in the past. Maybe that's come back since I've leaned towards a more vegan like diet as opposed to my usual pescatarianism. I will buy some rasins and see if that helps. Good tip!

I have IBS too, among other problems. I've found that when I feel starving for a few days, and I eat as much as my body seems to want, it just continues on and on and I never stop feeling that way. However, if I try to keep it reasonable and exercise self control, the extreme hunger goes away after just a day or two. Try eating more calorie dense foods in smaller quantaties and see if that helps.

I am 24 years old, 5ft5 and 142 lbs after losing 13 lbs over the last 1.5 years.

I eat some of everything too, besides meat (I get plenty of protien still),and excercise a lot, as I said. But the belly remains.

The stuff they use to sweeten diet soda is a carcinogen. I drink it a little, maybe two or three servings a week, so I'm not preaching, but please don't drink "loads" of it. It's really bad for you-- worse than regular soda.
