I feel the same way too smallerjeanssize.  It makes you wonder, do all the other people around you when you binge, are they having the same thoughts?

They're probably having the same thoughts, but about things other than food.  As for myself, I can get addicted to anything.

Real dairy cheese.  Not only is it solid fat, it's also constipating.  I avoid it like the plague.  In the past I've binged on cheese way too many times, I like the taste of it too much.  I'm having problems binging on soy cheese too, I'd hate to give it up, but if I have another binge involving soy cheese then I will avoid that as well.

There are breads and soy milks fortified with flaxseed oil. Flaxseed oil has Omega 3 in it, just like fish oil (except it's vegetarian), Omega 3 is good for your brain and heart functioning. Green olives are another source of healthy fats.

Absolutely not, eating only celery is a terrible idea.

Unless you add a little bit of mustard for flavor.

Back to Day #1. It's 6am and I just made a pot of coffee. Something warm to fill my stomach. The regret. The remorse. The secret private agony that only a binge eater knows. The obsession. The temptation. The surrender. But was that really hunger gnawing at the pit of my stomach, or was I really trying to fill an empty void of meaninglessness and despair? Was I simply trying to drown out the futility and absurdity of existence in a sea of blissful oblivion? Only God and my stomach know for sure.

(I'm trying to be poetic and interesting, lol.)

Last Friday (Jan.10), I weighed 172 pounds.  Today (Jan.17), I weigh 167 pounds.  I'm 5'8".  Five pounds in one week, only 37 more pounds to lose!  I'll get there eventually.

Just like my screen name and avatar, I want to fit into a smaller jeans size. Right now, I can fit into size 14, but my goal is to reach size 9, or at least 10. I'm 5'8". When I weighed 130 pounds I wore size 9 jeans. That was 18 years ago! My goal is to wear the same sizes I wore at age 20.

I massively binged yesterday, and it was a terrible feeling. I can relate to the person with digestion problems, because my stomach was so full it ached like someone hit it with a baseball bat. I wanted to feel good, but instead I was miserable. There's a lot of similarity between food binges and alcohol binges, in my opinion. They both involve sucking things down in huge quantities. Never again (I hope).

The best thing is to think about long-term weight loss, choose an amount of calories you can live with every day for the rest of your life.  There's a calorie calculator on this site that figures out how many calories you should eat to lose one pound a week.  There's lots of nutritional information here.  I can relate to you in that I still haven't figured out how many calories I should eat every day.  I'm using the information on this site, plus trial and error, to figure out some sort of food and exercise plan that I can live with.

Good Luck!

Sorry for your loss, I hope you have found peace of mind.  Congratulations on your goal of running a 5K marathon, it takes a certain level of fitness to be able to run.  I'd like to be your buddy, but I've never gotten past the walking stage.  I walk for 60-90 minutes every day.  I'd still like to help, if you don't mind having buddies that aren't runners.

Good Luck!

According to this site, losing more than one pound a week is considered "too aggressive".  There's a calorie calculator where they recommend how many calories you need to lose weight at one pound a week.  Mine said 1400 calories a day.  I think the philosophy here is that you choose an amount of calories you could live with  forever, keeping in mind that you will be consuming the same amount every day for the rest of your life.  Exercise is very important, among other things it speeds up your metabolism, which decreases when you restrict calories.

Good luck, I'm new here too!

Sometimes, I get into the habit of recreational eating.  I try to find other hobbies that I'm interested in to take the place of food.  Keeping busy doing something fun that does not involve eating always helps.  I just got to the point where I'm tired of food having such control over my behavior, it's not even so much weight loss as just being free from this compulsion to stuff my face.  Find something you really enjoy, and focus on that.

That just means you have to count calories and exercise every day for the rest of your life.   I don't care how many fat cells I have, as long as they shrink instead of grow I can live with it.   Genetic predisposition doesn't matter, it's how much you way in the present and what you can do about it that matters.

What I think is mind-bogging is that we live in an infinite universe, yet our entire civilization begins and ends with planet Earth. It's like we're surrounded by a vast meaningless void completely empty of other forms of intelligent life. There's got to be something more out there than just us, you know? Yet our civilization has us trapped in our tiny repetitive lives that keep us narrow-focused and rarely considering how strange and complex our position in the universe really is, how human life grew on this one tiny planet in the middle of nowhere.
