| Weight Loss | Does wieght watchers work! | Jan 28 2008 14:53 (UTC) |

Bosenberries, what a superb idea.... Yes they all work. WeightWatchers, LA weightloss, Nutrisystem, Herbal magic. They all work on the same level. You have to monitor what you eat. Here you get support from so many people, great advice, and you also get to do what they are charging you for at those programs, which is to monitor what you eat through your account. If you do it dilligently, you will see results almost immediately. But you have to be very dilligent at keeping up with the data input. It's amazing how much it has helped me recognize how much I eat and how little by way of excercise I do, so I'm trying to balance that out. My sister did LA weightloss and it worked for her. She lost 45 lbs and looks incredible. They have an incentive program, where if you meet your target goal you get your money back. But it is extremely expensive. Bottom line, you know what you are like. So if you feel comfortable doing a group environment and interacting with live people then weightwatchers is definitely a good choice.

| Weight Loss | Torn... | Jan 19 2008 20:52 (UTC) |

I think we all have been in a similar situation before. What do you do for a living? Have you experienced doing the same type of job elsewhere that was more gratifying? These are questions you have to think of. In my line of work, the work doesn't change much, it's the people. In my experience, the people are what makes work. Because it should be somewhat social. Do you have a friend or confidant at your work place? All you need is one, that you can share all your secrets, someone to bitch to, etc... who isn't going to sell you out. That can difuse any situation and job. Sometimes you just need to get it off your chest. I can only tolerate some of the ignorance at work. Then walking away usually takes care of the rest. If you feel completely upset, why give them the satisfaction of leaving. Take your time to find another job, while you are still employed. You will feel some satisfaction when leaving. I am a true believer of taking control of your fate and not allowing it to take control of you. Maybe you just need a fresh start. Do you find that you as a person have changed due to weight gain? Embrace the weight loss and don't worry too much about failure. There are so many super great people in this forum that can help you achieve your goal. First you have to want it. It is truly difficult for the first week, but once you set your mind, heart and soul into it. .... You will be self fulfilled. I'm not saying run out to a gym just yet. Work on getting the portion control in check first. Go for walks. Time your walks. Do 20mins for the first week and then up it to 30. When you are feeling a little more brave try doing a workout video, if that doesn't get your fancy and you feel you could do better with a group of people, join a small woman's gym. Figure out, are you a emotional eater? There has to be a trigger. Mine is work. But since I have put that in check, I don't allow anyone else to take me over to their unhealthy ways. Before it was so easy to be persuaded to be just like the rest of them. But I figured feeling sick all the time because I can't eat certain things that my friends were eating wasn't fair to me. They were not very understanding, but who cares. Like "sweet_tart" said, be selfish.. Absolutely. Make you priority number one and you will see that everything else will happen for you. Just take it all one day at a time and it will be incredible, how much will change. All the best. |

| Weight Loss | The Scale War... | Jan 13 2008 22:21 (UTC) |

| I say do both. I know the scale is so annoying, but it really will help and it is a quicker way to plot your progress. Also, it will keep you on track. I don't like the scale either, but I've decided to give it another try and it has been working. (This was at the advice of my sister who lost 45 lbs and has kept it off for 2 years.) She still weighs herself. | |||

Gosh, I've felt like that a million times. Screaming out loud rules if you live in a sound proof house. Or else your neighbors are going to think you are nuts! LOL My thing is to listen to really loud punk, or heavy metal music. Believe me, it actually relaxes me. The louder and more abnoxious the music, the better I feel. My other release is shopping.. But I'm trying to save some money.. LOL. Go for it.. screaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam. Don't you burn calories doing that too!? |

| Yup, it's a starch. My sister did LA weight loss (which by the way worked for her) she looks incredible.. But in their program peas and corn are listed as starches. They have high starch content. Who knew! I love corn. Now I have to eat less. | |||

| vacation.... i don't know about you, but as long as you are moving around alot, walking, swimming... etc... i don't think you really have to worry. but procrastinating isn't that good either... so a good combo of both. I say enjoy your vacation, but get lots of activities in. This way you won't feel so bad. I don't know where you are going, but half the fun of travelling is experiencing the food culture of other countries.... Have fun... | |||
| Foods | Anyone have healthy dinner ideas for a hungry husband?? | Jan 09 2008 16:44 (UTC) |

Here is a great idea and takes literally less than 1/2 hour to prepare. I love it and I even had my husband fooled. It is tofurkey sausages (seasoned with sundried tomatoes) It already comes like that from the store. Some brown rice pasta (very satisfying without the heaviness of regular flour pasta) and some spaghetti sauce (organic or whatever kind you like), just that the organic doesn't seem to have as much salt. Slice the sausages like you would see them in a restaurant meal, brown them slightly with some (and I mean a tiny amount of) sunflower oil. Mix cooked pasta, sauce and sausages together and voila.. a super tasty meal that is low in fat and super delicious... oh ya, make a salad to go with it.. ha haha.. :) Hope you try it... :) |

Welcome aboard. I totally know what you are going through. All I think about is what other tasty yummy can I eat. I think my only saving grace is that I don't know how to cook well. If I did, I think I would be in even more trouble. I have been eating healthy for a few days now. You can do it... I love this site for the support. So many wonderful people out there working towards the same goal.
