| Count me in! I don't have a great deal of "me" time, but this could definitely be a way to MAKE that time happen. Even if it means getting up earlier to get more exercise in before I begin my day! | |||

| Oilpaintlady, to answer your question, my biggest thing to assist with weight loss is drinking the required amount of water PER DAY. This isn't always easy to do, especially because I work and feel like all I get accomplished some days is running to the rest room. But what you're doing by drinking the water is flushing your system of water retention and toxins. If you never change your car oil...your car does not have good performance. Same applies to our bodies and water. Hope this helps you! | |||

You and I have a lot in common. I'm 5'6 also, but 43 yrs old. I too have a goal weight of 150. I'd settle for 160 though. I'm currently 224 (yikes). And my husband and I have been married nearly 18 years (March 23rd). We have plans for early June as well and I want to drop at least 30-40 lbs by then. Welcome to CC and I trust that you'll find many people on here willing to help you achieve your goals and I'm sure in turn you'll be able to inspire others with your weight loss as well. If you need any help with the site, I can try to help and I know there are others who have tons more information than I do. Again, welcome to CC : )

| LOL I know silly Sarah! There is no way I could reach my long term goal weight by Feb 14th. I just put my long term goal weight in to signify how far I have to go to reach it. Losing 5-10 during this challenge would be a good start : ) Thanks for hooking me up with the challenge info, Stilltryin! My goal is to lose 10 in this challenge. With hard work, it might be a little more. Kim, Sarah, lets get'er done! | |||

| I think my cheat day is going to be once a month. I have a lot of weight to lose and if I schedule a day weekly, it's going to defeat my own personal goals and extend my timeline in which to lose it. Yesterday was my cheat day. I had chinese food. While eating very small portions and choosing white rice over fried, it's still bad. Plus, really high in sodium. I ate chicken & broccoli because I knew it would be one of the healthier choices. Chinese food is one of the international food creations that is hard for me to say no to. Typically, if I'm craving chinese, I buy Lean Cuisine or another diet brand of it to satisfy me til the next urge strikes and I give in. | |||

| With it being winter and a 'seasonal food' I avoid pecan pie. I love it so much! At Thanksgiving this past year, I hate 3/4 of one by myself. You see that I'm in CC Land now, right? Hmm, wonder how I got here....... LOL | |||

ubiquitousjen - You say that your husband has gained weight as well. Perhaps not quite as noticably as you have. Here's the deal..... This same senario happened in my house. My husband wants me to lose weight as well and has politely told me so. I'm the type of person that takes a challenge. I took it, I'm losing and when I get to my goal weight (or before), I am going to tell him ..."ok, now it's YOUR turn." Since he felt you should know his feelings that he preferred you smaller, you can use the same medicine with him. Having lost the weight, how could he argue? When my husband first cautiously pointed out my weight, it hurt my feelings. But after researching men and their needs and this is what I have learned: Men wanting women to lose weight is not an emotional disconnect (althought it can be in some realationships, but not most). Men are VISUALLY driven. Men's interest & arousal are based more on what they SEE far greater than what they smell, feel, think. Thanks to our society of anorexic super models and playboy bunnies, standards as a wife are almost as strict or just as strict (depending on your relationship) to meet these standards. It's fact that only 10% of women fall into the super skinny catagory. It's NOT realistic that the rest of us could ever look like them and husbands/bf's know this as well. Get to the weight that YOU are comfortable with! His interest and attention will fully restore. |

In my photo gallery (as soon as I joined this site) I posted a picture of me from two years ago at my all time heaviest weight-----246. I was a size 24. I'm not proud of the picture, but I use the picture to remind me of where I was, how far I've come and I now use it as a tool to prevent ever returning to that weight & size again. It's not hard for me to look at it now because I know I'm owning up to my responsibility to change it. I can relate to not wanting a picture exposed because in the past it has been a painful reminder of failure and self disappointment. I tell people when I talk about that heavy picture that it was easy to be in denial over just how bad off my body was. My house has consciously or subconsciously been set up to where I don't have to pass by a full length mirror, my medicine cabinet in the bathroom is shoulder high. I didn't have to see my body! Whenever I would look down at the front part of me, I didn't SEE everything that is bulked up around my hips and rear because of my sight angle. Two years into this on & off again weight loss, I am in 18's and have been working very hard this past few weeks to continue the drive I had started with back then to finish the weight loss. So, I'm STILL not thin, I'm STILL not healthy. There are lots of people on this site that do have large amounts of weight to lose - to include ME. When I joined CC on Jan 3rd this year, CC reported that I need to lose 96 lbs. That IS a lot. Best wishes on your personal quest & goals : )

OMG! Unreal! You guys have made me feel better. It's one thing to chose your words carefully while being suggestive but to flat out tell you that you can't wear something and insult is awful. We know what our weight is, we know how our bodies look, we don't need reminded and especially insulted. Thanks for your posts! I just wanted to see if there were bad experiences out there as bad as mine was.....there IS and I'm sure there are some that we haven't even heard yet!

| My husband is the same way....he keeps chips, cookies, pre packaged cake rolls in the house. I buy Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs for MY snacks. I also buy the small cups of fruit. This way I can have snacks similar to what he is eating, only in a much healthier way. At first I felt cheated in doing it this way, but now I know it's a reward because I can have 100 calorie pack chips ahoy thin crisps and feel REWARDED that I'm getting the chocolate craving fulfilled AND not taking on the fat content and calories that I don't need! | |||

Cocoa butter helps with the reduction of stretch marks. To tone up the loose skin use light (3, 5, 10) pound weights and do some exercises. The light weights help you tone and not bulk up. Hold the weights in your hand at your sides, take turns pushing your arm straight back behind you (don't arch your back...remain straight). You will feel the slight burn in your underarm where the loose skin is. Alternate arms, do these in repetitions of three sets of 15. Do these exercises every other day (to give your muscles time to heal). |

Hi & Welcome! I joined Jan 3rd and have lost 9 lbs. This site is amazing. There is no reason we can't keep focus on our goals with all of the tools this site provides. Plus, there are so many nice and helpful people that I am encountering here. Just recently I started using most of the tools. At first, it was all I could do to find the time to update my food intake. I recommend the journal, it is a reflection of your current thoughts and where you want to go with your conscious state of weight loss. I was a fast food junkie too. Now when I grocery shop, I buy healthy frozen entrees and have MORE time during lunchtime at work than I did running out and grabbing just anything. Try these, they are complete meals and delicious! We spend the same amount of money on them as we do fast food (or less!) and get a healthier outcome! If I buy fast food at all now it's salad or their 'lite side' listings.

| Same here about the journal. I always heard 'write it down' and it never sunk in. Now that I'm doing it, it I finally realize the purpose is to keep it fresh in our minds and it helps guage where we've been! | |||

Hi & Welcome! I know what you mean about finding the time to exercise. I'm 43 and have a job (salaried) that requires me to work 12-14 hours a day and a 45 min commute each way. Fortunately, my job requires me to do a considerable amount of walking. It was my food intake that was the problem. I was grabbing fast food as a quick remedy to lunchtime. I take healthy frozen entrees to work now and if I go to fast food at all, it's for salad or their 'lite side' meals! All the way up to winter, I was setting my clock and going for walks (30 minutes) prior to getting ready for work. Now that it's too cold and dark outside, I use several exercise tapes or dvd's and turn them on low so I don't disturb the rest of my family and still get a work out. Sometimes I turn on music and use my free weights (3, 5 or 10 pound). I don't want to bulk up, just tone as I'm losing. Even with my schedule as packed as it is, I know I can still spare 30 minutes of early morning exercise....it doesn't take what little family time I have away and still gets the job done! |
