Motivation 2008 weight loss.. How much have you loss so far? Dec 24 2008

This year I have lost a total of 22 pounds, but I did have a weight gain of 17 in the middle, and so have had to lose all of that plus.  So, since March 2006, I have lost a grand total of 92 lbs, and will keep on fighting into 2009 to lose the last 30 or so.

Wish me luck! These plateaus are painful!

Was 285 in Jan. 07

Now 196.5 in Nov. 08

down 88.5 lbs so far!  36.5 to go!

May I suggest that you have a nonfat yoghurt fruit smoothie?  That would fill you up...or if you like soup, you could sneak some veggies into that and believe me, it helps!

Weight Watchers core plan is by far the best way to lose pounds.  I love it and I don't have to count calories or points or anything!!!

Some very good advice...I do try to do the interval training with my cardio.  I am up to at least an hour of combined treadmill - uphill at about a max rate of 3.5mph for 30-35 mins and elliptical at level18 then to 14 where I can maintain at about a 3.4mph trot for about 35-40 mins.  I build upper body with weights - primarily chest and arms - I am getting muscular and most of the excessive hanging fat is shrinking on my arms.

I try to work out at least 3-5 times a week (depending on the demands of my schedule) and lately have kicked it up to 5.  

I am trying to eat a little more at meals - and also am trying not to eat anything after an early supper - usually around 5:00pm.  

Thanks for the help -  I appreciate the effort that it takes to answer a question such as this.  :)

working out more, less, eating more frequently, less calories...you name it, I've tried it....

Well, frankly, I don't go to the movies unless I feel that I can eat popcorn.  A movie isn't a movie without it.  But lately, I have been feeling queasy too and likely that is because I eat so well most of the time, and my body isn't used to the butter and salt that is in the popcorn at the theater.  It is just the amount that I eat ( a lot)  and the richness that makes me sick....

The revelation that I have come to just within the last year is that I can change my mind and therefore change my patterns. I can chose not to be the same person that I was yesterday and focus energy to correcting and realigning all that I have damaged with poor eating and a sedentary lifestyle. In March of last year, I was diagnosed with diabetes 2, severe sleep apneoa, the beginning of knee damage from the 285 lbs that I was carrying on my 5'7" frame as well as acne, lack of energy, severe edema in my legs and the list goes on....Since that moment - I decided to choose life. I joined a gym. I began to walk on the treadmill...building slowly until now, not even a year later, I am over 70 pounds down and in the best shape of my life. I don't suffer from any of my conditions anymore. I look great and recently got a pair of gap jeans size 13/14 - from size 24W.

My advice...don't wait until you hear the diagnoses from your doctor to change your way of thinking...I wish that I had always thought like this and then I wouldn't have nearly killed myself with food.
