Oh my goodness, Thursday already! ??? Where did this week go? Sorry for not responding sooner, I did however go on site earlier this week, but got so involved with reading your check-ins, and goal progress updates, forgot to respond myself I see. Had a super dooper Aquafit class on Tuesday..still feeling it today. Also trying to set up a challenge with Marcekd to get us moving more on our treadmills...have that one on one time extra support. More to come on that when we set schedule. Did not do well with food logging, only consistent 50% of time this week, I would say...but much on the go. On a positive note, I PASSED my insurance brokers exam, so am now officially a registered license broker....Yay me!!!! Thanks for the reminders everyone...much appreciated....must now get back to work. Lee-Anne p.s. also down another pound. |

Well, having just checked in at the moment, makes it difficult to reach out to someone. Sara, earlier this year, before I left the forum for a brief period of time (never do that again), I can honestly say that I was getting to know the members. Truly reading everyone's check-in on a weekly basis was informative, encouraging and supportive. I totally relate to the accountability thing though, because in my own case, I was going to Aquafit with three other friends, and lately, it is just I who keeps returning. Kind of lonely at times. I love the idea of having at least one person to confide with, because it would give me that one added edge of support. It is very easy to fall off the wagon when you are only accountable to yourself. Who is going to give me heck? Myself? Yeah, twist my arm to stay away from those potato chips, or sit like a couch potato to watch a favourite program instead of moving to the great fitness room downstairs in lower level of house and work out at same time because t.v. with same channels is down there. I keep sabotaging myself lately. Why? Pressure, just wrote another exam, Mom was rushed to hospital on Monday, and that was just this week. Why do I always push what is very important to me, for me, aside? As much as I have great support by my husband, he also knows not to push me, because that will backfire. I have to want this, and I know I do, but for some reason, I keep telling myself tomorrow is a new day. Exercise 1 day a week, just is not enough, and as a result, weight is not coming off. I need to get back to seeing results. Yes, yes, I am preaching to myself here...and will stop. All to say, this week, I have fallen. Meri - I can so relate. Sara - Congrats to you as you truly are accountable, and you know what you want. Julie - I guess it is okay if you take a break this week, but not too often, okay? I love your informative check-ins. et all, looking so forward to getting to know each and everyone one of you more. Enjoy the rest of the week. Lee-Anne |

I myself, am picking up those goals I let go of awhile ago, and am happy to report that I am have maintained my Aquafitness class on Monday's, and this week, will be stepping it up a notch by stepping on the treadmill. Also starting to log my food intake religiously, and as a result am down a pound. Hey, I will take what I can get. Will check in again before end of week. Have a good one. Lee-Anne |

Weekly topic. OMG, I am great with excuses...especially while I had been on waiting list to return here. 1. Tomorrow will be that new day I had used that one forever, but I have finally managed to put it into becoming a reality more consistently. I feel great now that I am back into a commitment here with you all on the forum. It certainly gives me that accountability I had been missing for awhile. I still have difficulty with the logging of food and exercising, but the positive is, I have put in more exercise to ward off the the calories. 2. Had a busy day and am too tired. Thank goodness for hubby, because he has obviously heard me say that one way too many times, in fact tried to use it this week, and not go to my Aquafitness class, but he pushed me to go. Man oh man, I was on top of the world after the class...got to sit in the hot tub after the fact, and then go home and snuggle with hubby. 3. Food planning does take a long time It certainly does, planning the weekly meals, and buying groceries accordingly, but you know what....we eat healthy, and do not waste foods. Every weekend, my fridge is empty for the next new grocery list, with next to no waste. Also having lost my job last year, and now working for 1/3 of that pay, one really does begin to truly appreciate the effort and desire to not overspend unnecessarily, nor waste food. I used to buy until my grocery basket overflowed. Why, because I could. We also ended up throwing away, way too much. Not anymore. Only buy what is required, and may get that, or this the next time. Weekly check in: This being my first full week back, I must say that it feels great! Got my aqua class in on Monday, and am gearing to get back on my treadmill regularly. My food logging this week has been staggered, but I have been choosing healthy and well balanced meals on a daily basis. Need to focus on logging the calories so I truly know. Thanks again for welcoming me back everyone! Have a great remainder of the week, and talk to you all next week if not sooner. Lee-Anne

Oh, I was so excited, I hit send before adding a link to one of my recipes. Our family has very busy schedules with two boys in hockey, and both my hubby and I working, so I often need to use our slow cooker. It is great to be able to make a wonderful "Sunday like" meal during the week, and have it ready at a reasonable hour. Could not have a meal like this if I was to start from scratch when I got home from work at 5:30. My apologies in advance, to our vegetarians, this one is not for you. http://caloriecount.about.com/sunday-pot-roas t-slow-cooker-recipe-r155622 |

Happy Sunday Everyone! Well this past week has been challenging and I ended up being short 1 day of proper food logging. I had reported such success in the early part of the week, with a 3 lb weight loss to date, but then totally blew it Friday. I am assuming it is because I am close to that "TOM" ...yes that is my excuse. I know that I will not ace this round of goals, but what I do know is that I am back on track with my food logging (not like last round ~ did not even do it at all because I was focussing on my exercise), and that alone combined with proper exercise will generate better results in the long run. I do feel better already, and know that it is the right thing to do. If I fall off the wagon for a day or two, well that is better than falling off the wagon completely. I am back on track for this week, and look so forward to the next update. Have a great remainder of the week, and talk to you soon, Lee-Anne |

figurethefat, WELCOME BACK FROM VACATION!!!! Missed you, but more importantly, hope you had a well rested, enjoyable vacation! Dear friends, I have come to realize AGAIN, that logging my calories truly works...EVEN IF I CONSUME MORE THAN THE "SO CALLED" daily limit. So far, I am down three pounds, and I am feeling great!!!! I absolutely feel wonderful! Julie, yes, I am doing it slow and steady...next round of goals will be to focus more on the nutritional balance of my daily calories, as I am sure that too will only assist with my '"HEALTHGAIN". P.S. I liked the way you spelled my name "LEIGH ANN"....but I also like my true spelling Lee-Anne...when I was younger, I did not like my name because it was unique. Today, my goodness, there are so many spelling possibilities. Thanks to all of you for inspiring me to succeed. I love reading these threads on a weekly basis!!!!! Enjoy your weekend everyone!!! My heart reaches out to dovelette for puppy and defrog for kitty...we grow so attached to these little animals. Well, week three and I remain on track!!! Last week, I logged for the 5 days and I attended my scheduled aquafit class on Monday. Throughout the balance of the week, we swam in our own pool, and I took short walks with my parents dog. As a result the scale said I was down 2 lbs. Slow and steady. Unfortunately, my daily deficit is low, as it is challenging to discipline myself from wanting more calories. I have been good, but I know I can get better. I hope that this goals' session proves to be successful on the weight loss side. My fear is the upcoming vacation (first two weeks of August), as this is when I break the rules, and probably indulge in too many alcoholic beverages while on the beach and in the sun. Mind you, I must say, substituting such drinks with club soda has really been working well lately, and the positive trigger I notice is that I certainly do not get as tired, nor do I get the munchies. I also hope that I can maintain this slow and steady course as I head into August, as I am also studying for my second real estate exam which is scheduled for August 15...right after vacation. My spirits are strong and I am up for the challenge. So, here is to me, and here is to all of you...I wish you a great remainder of the week, and super weekend to come!!!! Lee-Anne |

Good evening! And that it is...I was feeling a bit under the weather today, rested it off, and just finished a great Aquafit class as scheduled! Worked really hard, you would be proud of me. Okay, okay, I am proud of me. Just hope I do not get hungry, because I have basically consumed enough calories today....and there is not a big deficit, despite this great work out. Am I ever going to loose weight again? I really don't like getting older. Have a great evening everyone! Lee-Anne |

HAPPY BELATED SARA!! Hope your celebration was wonderful. Check-in: Well...not so good for my first week. Looking back at the report, I officially only logged 3 days. I guess I am just getting into the groove. I do not see this as a failure, but a slow start, as I had not been logging for awhile. If you can believe this, I already feel good, just knowing that even though I may not have logged each day, I did monitor and consciously eat better this past week. Introduced more fruit and vegetables, instead of carbs. Also, replaced pop and wine with club soda and water. As for my maintenance goal, exercise was achieved. Will be out again this evening with my gal pals doing our Aqua Fit class together. Also, the family has been swimming everyday! Well...I will check back in tonight to follow up on this week's topic, but until then, have yourselves a great remainder of the day and just a super week!! Lee-Anne |

jnielsen006, sorry to hear about your Dad, but good on you and your boyfriend/family for stepping in to help him. In reading your note, and your concern about not getting exercise in, just remember that all that painting accounts for exercise, so just make sure to log it as activity. Lam7 |

Well I have been logging my food calories as well as my exercise. Yesterday, Canada Day I was doing great up until mid day, but then failed with the logging miserably. Tuesday, I did very well with food consumption and swimming all day, but forgot to log my food intake onto CC, and only realized yestarday, that I could not go back a day later to update. So...I would have to say that Tuesday and Wednesday account for my two days grace for food logging. The balance of the week, must be perfect. I just had to let you know, so as to not feel any more guilt. Just now need encouragement to successfully make it through the remainder of the week, or else I will have started on the wrong foot for sure. Hope those of you who celebrated Canada Day had a great time, and those of you who will celebrate on July 4th do so as well. Talk to you soon. Lee-Anne |

Check-in: All went well, and I have been really focusing on this next round of goal setting. I can't help but remember how easy and effective it was when I first started CC a year and a half ago..combining consistent food logging with a great balance of exercise to ensure success with my weight loss. That great cocktail lasted a good six months, and then I fell off the wagon. Having found this group has given me the strength to understand my weaknesses and passionately thrive on my successes. So.... NEW GOAL: Consistently log all calories 5 out of 7 days of the week, over the next 12 weeks. Maintenance: Exercise at a minimum once a week over the next 12 weeks.

Good Morning Everyone! Top of the morning to y'all! Wholly hot sun out there, here in Ottawa! Not complaining...but the air conditioning does not help..I have picked up another cough as a result. Goal Evaluation: I am proud to say that I have achieved this round of goals and some. I believe the nice weather plays a big role. Yay me!!!!! New Goal: I would welcome some advice on ensuring that this next goal is worded properly. I wish to ensure that I maintain a proper deficit each day, to allow me to loose weight slowly yet regularly. As mentioned in previous threads, I was successful with exercise, yet without counting calories properly, and knowing that I have not lost weight during this last round...all that great exercise was somewhat wasted. So...I would like to know what level of deficit I should target for this next goal. I wish to maintain a deficit of "500 calories"??? each day to to allow me to move toward my weight loss target date, as set out by CC. Do you understand what I am trying to accomplish with such a statement? Any assistance on rewording and more importantly on identifying proper deficit level would be greatly appreciated. I believe that if I focus on a proper deficit level this round, as opposed to writing something around logging my calories and exercise...I will get the best of both worlds, with an easy measurement to follow this time. Thanking you in advance, Lee-Anne

Check-in: Sara, great idea about reaching out to our support group for tips on staying on top of my calorie food logging for my next round of goals. My excuse is it is harder during the nice weather months. Exercise remains on track, and I did manage to replace my interval class with an Aqua Turbo class on Mondays, and my whole family is now involved, all of us are really enjoying Wii Fit. Topic: I do enjoy cardio, as it helps me feel stronger and more capable, happier, more energetic! The last interval program and my current Aqua Turbo class are all about that. Both are high intensity classes! They focus on building cardiovascular strength and endurance through challenging routines of intervals and higher intensity options. Both are only an hour long each, but I feel great after it! I too wish that I could get into running, but I know it is not something I could accomplish on my own. msmeg1984: so sorry to hear about your friend. Be strong like we know you can, be weak when you need to be, but always remember, we will always be here to support you. God Bless. declanphineas: Welcome to the group! The inspiration, support and continuous learnings are incredible!!! Julie: You are an amazing lady! "A Zumba" instructor...now I am going to have to read up on that to find out what it is all about. You are a wealth of health! Good on ya Girl!!!! Be Proud! |

Good morning everyone! I am so pumped! Sara, I have to say this is because of your continuous support. I have been exceeding my exercise goals and am proud to admit that I continue to introduce new options every week. As mentioned previously, my last interval class was last week, so I have now substituted that with an AquaFit class on Mondays. We as a family have also decided to invest in a Wii Fit! We purchased it on Saturday evening, and to date, I have been on it for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. I wish to continue regularly in the hope that I will see some weight loss. Any fellow members been using this system? Now with regards to new upcoming goals...the time has come to re-introduce proper calorie counting, because I know that it is important to understand my calorie intake, especially now that I have increased my exercise. I am so excited about this new found passion and pray to the Lord above that I not lose the drive to continue. Happy LAM7!!!

Quick check-in...Thanks Sara and Carrie for the reminder. The days just fly by so quickly. I just wanted to let you know that I remain on track with my activity, I am so proud onto how well I have been focusing on ensuring that I get it in during the week. With increased intervals. Sara, I will come back to comment on my last 8 months, thanks for the wishes! I have just been so busy with my Mom...(post stroke survivor). Quick check-in, busy as we finally sold our other house (only after 5 months). We still have some last minute packing to do and will be meeting the lawyer today. Woot woot. Tiegirl - Congrats on your recent achievement! You should be so proud of yourself! Thanks for sharing such wonderful news, and I am wishing you much success as you move toward your next goal. Sara - Happy to hear that the first week's hurdle is over and done with! Exercise is still progressing as per plan. Really sad that my interval class ends this Thursday as I really enjoyed it. As mentioned previously, I will be heading back to an Aquafit class with two of my friends to fill that void. Our pool is also up and running and despite the cold temperatures we have been experiencing, the pool heater compensates for that...just not looking forward to seeing that first heating bill...... I also wrote my Real Estate exam this past Saturday, and am sitting on the fence, as I am not sure how I did. I really really hope that I passed. Will have to get back to you regarding recipe, as in looking at those I currently have on CC, they are moreso for the fall. The salads I have listed, I have already shared. Have a great remainder of the week everyone!!!

Welcome to the group Dove..."Wagon Jumper stalker"...Bahahaha...too funny! I must admit though, my energy and drive when following this forum is quite pumped, so I would have to agree, perhaps I may of have been a closet stalker, while waiting to officially become a member. Thanks to Sara, for keeping up with the adminstrative duty of keeping this forum alive, and the numerous members who have such interesting information to share, I would have to say that this forum is an inspiration, and that because of you, I have started to achieve my goals. Thank you. I am not at my ideal weight yet, and not sure if I will ever get there, but this last round of goal setting has put me on the right path. As for support, I would have to say my husband Tim. He knows how important it is for me, and so therefore will work with me to ensure that our schedules do not interfere with my work plan...well to the best of his capability. He is so supportive in so many ways. I also have two girlfriends who love to get out and do an aquafitness class, or just go for walks, as they too wish to remain active. Only thing I have not been successful in doing as of yet is to get them on CC. They have their excuses, and I will respect them...for now Looking so forward to this week's inteval class!!!! Have a great week everyone, chat soon!

Sara, not having found a replacement is not your issue, you did right in giving them proper notice and working your butt off until your last day, transitioning...now it is time to move on, and one of your to do things is to get to the gym. You will only feel better as a result! Take the time for you!!!! As for this week's topic, I have come to realize that my motivation is group activities. I just love my interval classes, and wish they could go on forever! The class is inexpensive and very effective. My not so motivational time is during the winter months, but this year, if you all remember, I kicked myself in he butt and was outside often, sliding with my youngest. This year we are planning on building a skating rink on our front lawn, to keep us all active. remaining young at heart and playing with the kids is wonderful! I remain on track, and as a result, each week I am inspired to do more. I believe the nice weather does play a role. Have been out biking, roller blading, walking, and just can't wait ... the pool is almost ready...to be swimming my butt off...(wouldn't that be nice!!!)? Have a great week everyone! Oh, and with regards to the number of members...I am okay with your suggestion, as the numbers do drop during the summer months. What is important though, is that it does not impact any of your time Sara, as you do dedicate much of your time for us here. It is always, always, always, very much appreciated! Lee-Anne
