Try eating every 3 hours. it will actually jump start your metabolisim and make you lose weight faster! you should do 6 meals a day 3 main meals and 3 snacks in between. this will control your blood sugar levels. and add more compex carbs to your diet, like whole wheat breads cereals, and legumes.

exmple

7 o clock: oatmeal

10 o clock: slice of whole wheat bread

12-1:  bowl of steamed broclli serving of non fat cottage cheese and serving of almond butter on some whole wheat bread

3-4 serving of cereal or about 100-150 cals of a cereal

6-7 dinner - serving of chicken or fish, 2-3 servings of vegetables and 1-2 servings of complex carbs, whole grain rice, beans or something.

GREAAT RECIPE although i would say best idea, is just intergrate a "pizza day every week" and maybe every 2-4 weeks a a pizza day with whtever you want. and if you feel especially guilty doing that set conditions.

1) like 30-60 mins of hard cardio afterwards so you dont bloat up

2) eat healthy the rest of the day

3) set the day or two as recovery days and then move on.

its called a comfort bar OMG ITS DELCIOUS like 14 grams of sugar and protein 180 cals 20 dv of fiber 10 dv of sat fat. and its completely organic.

i tend to avoid sodium as much as possible. water retention suckkksssss

fats are all ok as long as they are natural fats (nut butters, natural oils,)

avoid any trans fats they blow you up lke a baloon

lol i havent really answered your question. fill those gaps with a protein bar or something with each meal. not those builder power bars they are so full of sugar.

Weight Loss It seems like a weekly war...............anyone else? Mar 16 2008

Ok Krzy and every single person who said they felt the same way. everybody who has been trying to gain lose strengthen or maintain has had this same problem.  but most who are really commited to their nutrition and are consistantly putting great foods and getting a healthy amount of excercise learn how their body works...THE SCALE IS NOT ALL KNOWING....IT IS A GUIDELINE!!! their are a few simple things to remember that should help ease everybodies minds above me

1) For those who lost 5-6-7 pounds or more the first week or two of their diet, that is fantastic! But Probably 90% of that was water weight.  this is especially true for people who have just integrated cardio into their lifestyle.  you are sweating out sodium which leads to  less water retention

* note.  if you are doing any type of weight training in the long run you must understand the scale may not budge as much as if you were doing just cardio.  THe fact is you are gaining muscle weight.  an added 10 pounds over 2 weeks is not muscle weight btw. although there are hundreds of studies all over the internet that show weightlifting leads to faster FAT LOSS.

2) the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning after urination. try to make it around the same time every time.

Note * your weight can vary as much as 3-4 pounds if you had a late dinner.

3) weighing yourself every day is a ticket to failure.  everybody knows that feeling when they get up and jump on the scale expecting another 2 pounds gone.  but unfortunately you see another 3 gained!  you have been eating healthy you have been excercising regularly whats going on?! But you tend to forget that you might have had a little too much sodium the day before. (which leads to water retention which in turn adds a few pounds of water weight to the scale, dont worry it goes away relatively quickly. although a speedy way to shed some of it, would be 30-45 minutes of HARD cardio. should be gone by the next day or two)  So when you see those extra pounds just look back at the day before.  3 brownies will NOT lead to 3 pounds of extra weight unless you have been feeding yourself with a slice of cucumber and water for your meals.

4)  it takes close to 3500 calories ABOVE your daily intake to gain one pound of fat. its the same to lose one pound of fat. you would need a 3500 calorie defecit. if you think about it, dieters are supposed to have around a 500-700 calorie defecit per day, including excercise. so over a weeks period that is 3500 calories lost. spread over a weeks period which ends up being 1 pound of fat. this is how it works!!! 1 pound a week is perfectly healthy. dont give up.  and dont turn to more food to make yourself feel better.

5) b4 and after pictures! they are what keep us going. take one at the first of the month.  and dont look at it til the end.  if you numbers on the scale didnt change much look at your physique. your clothes should feel looser you stomach will feel tighter and you will be seeing new definition.

Fitness running 30 miles per week and NOT LOSING Mar 11 2008

make sure to eat the calories you need to make up for this huge amount of calories burned per week.  i run at least 5 miles a day not including sports practices and i eat an upwards of 3000-3500 calories a day lol, but im 15 and growing. but anyways again make sure you are eating enough, and running that much will result in some muscle growth, (some of the largest muscles are in your lower body) and that means added pounds in the short term and less in the long term because more muscle burns extra calories per day, and also make sure you are drinking enough water to keep your body hydrated for that amount of running you wont lose any weight or even stay healthy with that much water defecit.
Weight Loss Metabolism Q Mar 11 2008

Unfortunately i must disagree with the two replies above me. it is incredibly relavent when you eat and how often.  after an average of 3-31/2 hours of not eating your body automitcally goes into a mini starvation mode. no matter how large the meal you had last.  its almost like the pushing of a button.  now a day should look like this for the average person working an 8 hour day.  it doesnt take much to keep your bodies fat burning potential on all day, when that switch turns off the fat you burn is cut by up to 50 percent until you eat again.

breakfast - 7 o clock (meal size depends on your calorie intake requirments.

9-10 100 calorie snack (ex apple, oarnge slice of whole wheat bread)

12-1 lunch

3-4 100 calorie snack

6-7 dinner

right before bed you should have a mini meal high in protein and fiber especially if you are an athlete like i am.  great examples include a serving of whey protein powder in water or milk, a tablespoon of almond butter, a serving of non fat cottage cheese. along side a piece of whole wheat bread for convenient fiber.

in simpler terms, eat 5-6 times a day every 2-3 hours 4 hour max.  and for your main meals remember to eat at least 2 portions of vegetables 1-2 portions of protein and 1 serving of carbs along with a LARGE GLASS OF WATER. if you follow this you will be full up until those 3 hours. you wont actually feel hunger pains until the 4th hour or at least i dont but try not to let yourself get hungry at all. thats your body telling you it is using stores of muscle and needed energy.

Young Calorie Counters teen runners how many calories do you eat a day? Feb 24 2008

i eat around 3500. but idk i have at least 4 hours of soccer practice (intense) almost every day. i do muscle work every other day. the doctors tell me that my metabolisim is the fastest they have seen. my Bmr is something around 2500. LOL i weigh about 130 and im 5 10 i have 7-8 percent body fat.  you can eat more calories if you integrate certain foods into your diet, drinking 3 cups of green tea a day. makes your body burn an additional 200 calories. eat lots of foods with natural enzymes like pineapple and papaya, drink a large glass of lemon water at least 2 times a day. after each meal walk around your block or something, walking after a meal cuts the time it takes to digest it in half.
Weight Loss What's the MOST Water Weight you've put on in one day? Feb 24 2008

im a serious athlete who is constantly competing, so my weight can vary from 4-5 pounds in a day.  for every pound lost you should drink one quart of water to rehydrate. now for gaining. it all depends on what you ate that day. anything refined high sodium foods will do that to you. it will dissapear within a day or two. fastest way to get rid of it though is to sweat it all out. do 30 minutes of intense cardio.

Young Calorie Counters Abs Help! Feb 22 2008

alright so basically im guessing your asking for a models stomach or a 6 pack. that comes with proper nutrition nothing more, a million crunches a day wont help you.  Now if your already below 10 percent body fat then your abs will really show and you can define them.

this is my ABs workout, its advanced and incredibly intense so cut it down if its too hard. ( you are up against a chair for alot of it the end of the chair should be under the bottom of your knees that wya you dont use your hip flexors)

crunch forward 1 min

crunch right elbow to left knee 1min

crunch left elbow to right knee 1 min

now get off the chair

feet 6 inches off the ground 1 min

keep them up and start doing swimming movements quickly 1 min

keep them up and do a scissor motion 1 min

back to the chair

japanese style up as fast as you can 3 seconds to come down 1 min

hold a crunch halfway 1 min

come off the chair

bicycles 1 min

v ups 1 min

woopsiedaiseies (leg extensions 6 inches bring your body and knees up at same time) 1 min

right plank 1 min

left plank 1 min

forward plank 2 minute

pushups until muscle failure.

If you really feel like you need to binge do something to take your mind off food. if your hungry for god sakes eat. but drink a LARGE glass of water along with it.  and immedietely afterwards brush your teeth. and pop some gum. easy fix. or grab an apple and go for a run.  and if you feel like you can just have one of something dont have it at all.
