Hi everyone, Thank you to everyone for being so enouraging with helping me get back on track. Welcome Victoria and Palmetto! Gracie, as much as the buffet can be intimidating on the cruise, they do have a lot of healthy options too. Also, there is so much to do that you almost find you want to hurry up and finish eating to go do an activity! I'm heading out now for a walk on the trail in the Park. We've finally had a couple of days here in NY without rain, so I need to enjoy it while it lasts, LOL! LeeLee

Hi everyone, Hope all is well!! I’ve been back from my cruise for a couple of weeks, but just haven’t had time to log on. The cruise was great; very relaxing and a lot of fun! Unfortunately, I can’t say I’ve been doing very well with sticking to my eating plan. I am really struggling right now. I’ve gained 8 pounds, and can’t seem to get back on track. I can’t even blame the cruise. I actually lost 1 pound on the cruise. The gaining happened after I returned. I really tried to think about why this is. I think there were a few reasons why I didn’t gain on the cruise. First off, I actually got more exercise. Since I had so much time on my hands, I was able to fit in going to the gym every day, in addition to all of the walking, swimming, etc. Whereas, when I’m home I work all week, sitting behind a desk most of the day. However, I think the real issue is the food. Although food was ALWAYS accessible on the cruise I did less binge eating. I was always eating with other people, which makes me eat slower and somehow become more conscious of what I’m eating. Also, I went hours in between meals. Another thing was that there was no food in my room, so I avoided "mindless" eating while watching TV (in fact, proudly I can say that I didn’t turn on the TV once). Now that I’m back home, I’m back to getting stressed at work and eating over it, snacking while watching TV, etc. Now that I’ve identified some of these habits, I need to figure out a way to fix them!! I’m determined!!
I haven’t read all of the posts, but just from the recent ones, I see that this stress eating is definitely a "common thread". Penny, I agree; not only when stressed, but all emotions, happy sad, etc. However, as Penny said we won’t give up and we’ll get through it!! Jodi, sorry to hear about all of the hassles you are going through with the flooding. Katie, congrats on the great weight loss!! leelee

Hi everyone, Hope everybody enjoyed the July 4th weekend. Welcome crazyquilt. As Jodi and Penny said this is a great group. I agree with Jodi that it is the most supportive group I;ve found on cc. Jodi - the cruise is to the Bahama's and I think we stop in a couple of other islands too. Can't wait. I'm glad to hear that there are a lot of healthy options on the cruise. I've been worried about it, because I want to enjoy myself, but I don't want to come away gaining a bunch of weight. I've heard about the dreaded Midnight buffet, LOL, and plan to stay away!! leelee |

Hi everyone, I'm very relaxed because I have tomorrow off, for July 4th. Looking forward to the long weekend. Gracie - wish I could say the dancing going on in class was good, but I can't, LOL. Most of us look less than professional, but it's fun and everyone just kind of goes with it and enjoys it. I don't have too much going on this weekend for July 4th, so I'm not too worried about going off plan, but I'm going on a cruise soon and I am worried about gaining when I go. Leelee |

Hi everyone, Penny, we are having the opposite here in NY with the rain. It is raining at least every other day. Martoon - glad to see you! Congrats on the new flat! Penny, Jodi, Bonnie, I agree with you that being part of this thread and getting to know everyone on it, is such a big help. Thanks to all leelee |

Hi everyone, Hope everybody enjoyed the weekend. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I took a couple of salsa classes. This week I got even more daring and took a belly dancing class yesterday!! It was actually a lot of fun, but I'm sure kind of funny to watch too. I definitely think I would try it again. Good luck to everyone for a healthy and successful week! leelee

Hi everyone! Bonnie - keep up the great attitude! As Jodi said, it a good reminder. I find it fustrating that it is so easy to gain, yet such a battle for the smallest loss. However, it doesn't help to get fustrated about it, I just have to accept it! leelee |

Hi everyone, I'm glad it is Friday. It's been a very stressful week at work. My Dept. was down 2 people, plus we had a big project to do. I'm proud to say, I stuck to my food plan even though I was ready to scream, LOL. I did give in at one point and asked a co-worker to pick me up chocolate covered grahm cracker cookies at Starbucks (love them:), but believe it or not turned out they didn't have them!!! Justluckie - congrats on the weight loss!! Penny - Good to see you! Good for you with the swimming. I've heard it's excellent cardio. Bonnie - have fun at the graduation! Enjoy the weekend everyone! leelee |

Hi everyone, Gracie - glad to hear the scale has gone back in the right direction. Sodium/water gain can really affect the scale; it's amazing. Bonnie, congrats on the weight loss and even more so on the improved health; fantastic! justluckie - only 3 bites of desert is a great accomplishment. Good for you! Good Night! Leelee |

Hi everyone. I hope everybody is enjoying the weekend. It is kind of a dreary day here in NY. However, I've had a pretty enjoyable relaxing day. Got together with some friends last night and got home late, so I'm enjoying doing not much of anything today. Gracie, I just went through a gain recently too. I'm back on track now, sounds like you are too. Like Jodi said, a lot of it could have been water gain that will go away. Jodi - why is it that the slightest slip ups have to show on the scale, yet it takes so much to see the scale go down even just a little!! leelee |

Hi everyone, Welcome to the newcomers! I think you will find everyone in this forum very helpful and encouraging. Bonnie - Congratulations!! Martoon - don't get discouraged, you'll get back on track soon enough. I haven't had a chance to log on too much lately, therefore, I just noticed your new pic for the first time. You look fantastic! Congratulations! I decided to try something new for exercise and went to a salsa class last night. I know I was just a hysterical sight to watch, but it really was fun. My friends and I didn't know what to expect, so we were kind of shocked when they started partnering everyone up, then alternating partners (it was like the dancing version of speed-dating, LOL), and we were spinning around, LOL! I'm not doing it instead of walking, but just in addition. I'm hoping it will add a needed boost to my exercise plan. Enjoy the rest of the day! Leelee

Hi everyone, I'm back. It's just been a crazy time at work, and I just haven't had time to login. I didn't read all of the posts yet to see what has been going on, but I do see all of the familiar faces!! I'm glad to see everyone is still in the group! Hope everybody enjoyed the holiday weekend. Mine was great! Didn't do much, some shopping and a couple of barbeques; but it was very relaxing. Also, I really felt I did well with my food choices; which was great. Talk to you soon! leelee |

Hi everyone, I haven't logged on in a few days. I'm still catching up on the all of the posts. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a great weekend, but it just flew by! Went out with friends for dinner and to listen to a band on Friday, went shopping all day saturday Lola, congrats on your weight loss!! Bonnie, glad to hear that you had such a great time on your trip. I've always wanted to go to San Francisco. Don't get discouraged with the plataeu, just keep reminding yourself you're not gaining and you're developing healthy habits. Gracie, I definitely agree that staying in the house too much is setting yourself up for an eating binge. Whenever I'm just hanging out watching TV for too long, it is inevitable that I start snacking and don't stop. Have a good week everyone!! Leelee |

Hi everyone, Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! I am spending today (the last day of my 4 day weekend) relaxing. Although I did manage to get to the track at the park for a long walk. I was able to get through Easter without indulging too much, yet still fully enjoying it. Not even a Jelly bean!! I did have a piece of cake last night, but only a small slice and filled the rest of my plate with fruit salad. On top of not overeating, I have also really stuck to my exercise regimen. Ice - You still lost 22 pds. That is absolutely phenomenal. You're right; it does sometimes feel that it takes a long time. It doesn't seem to take nearly as much time to gain it. However, as they say, nothing worth having comes easily. Just stick with it. Welcome Lola and Raisedoncoffe. I think you'll find this group very helpful!! Leelee

Hi everyone, I am having a long dreary stressful work week, but a silver lining is in sight, because I am off on Friday and Monday; can't wait!! Martoon - congrats on being Colleague of the month & of course on your change in clothing size. Going down a size is a great feeling!! Jodi - I hope your dad is feeling better. dramaqun - I'm glad at least all of your friends were able to get together to say goodbye to your friend. I hope you were able to comfort one another. Talk to you soon! Leelee

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a beautiful Saturday in NY, but now it's been raining all day today! Gracie, LOL about the black socks & sandals!! Don't worry, this NY'r would never, LOL! Jodi - Don't worry you'll get back on track. There's nothing we can do about the hormone related part. Unfortunately, it can really affect weight loss sometimes. However, now that you've got back on your plan, I'm sure you'll start seeing the scale move in the right direction again. leelee

Hi everyone! Hope all is well!! Bonnie - I'm so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family. I think what you said about embracing the pain instead of avoiding it with emotional eating is very admirable and healthy. My thoughts are with you. Hi everyone, I hope everybody had a good weekend. I almost had a slip up this weekend, but diverted it in the end. As I was walking to an appointment at the hairdresser, of all things, I came across a girl scout cookie stand!!! What's a girl to do, I had to support the kids, LOL. I ended up buying two boxes of cookies with every intention of eating them within the day. However, all of a sudden I had a brief moment of clarity & gave them away! ice - don't give up. I went through something similar a few weeks ago. I was so stressed I just wanted to eat what I wanted and enjoy it. Once I admitted that it really wasn't helping relieve my stress at all I was able to get back on track. Penny - as I said above, I went off track too recently, and gained a little weight back. While I was doing this, I wasn't logging on to cc too often and wasn't keeping up with the postings. Getting back to doing that helped me get back on track. Don't be too hard on yourself for going off, you've been under a lot of stress, just remind yourself of all the hard work you've put into this and how important it is to you to reach your goals. leelee |

Hi everyone, Martoon, I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday. A 2 pd. weight gain is not bad for all of that celebrating & certainly worth it for your 21st !! Earthmom - Happy belated b-day!! I'm glad you had a nice visit with your daughters. I am going to check out the link you provided with the CC workouts. Jodi - Happy 1 year CC anniversary! Dramaqun - I think it is great that you are identifying what makes you want to eat. I am also working on doing that. Have a good night everyone! |

Hi everyone, Laney - I agree that it does often seem like you spend more on healthy food, but as mad4moon mentioned, when you are paying more attention to how much you are eating, you tend to buy less in general, which can help with not spending more. Also, whenever a product I like that fits in with my food plan is on sale, I always stock up. One time recently a whole shelf of my fridge was full of 60 cal pudding snacks, LOL. leelee |

Hi, hope everyone had a great weekend! My weekend was a lot of fun, but I also ate out a lot, which was a little hard. I did exercise Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, including my Saturday spinning class, so hopefully it offset the eating out, especially since I tried to make decent food choices. I went to one of those murder mystery interactive dinner theaters on Saturday, which was very funny and enjoyable! Gracie - glad to hear that the garage sale went well. I'm sure it did burn some cals too!! leelee |

Katiemae - living in Italy...sounds wonderful! I just love it there. I have family there and I stayed with them, when I went to visit. I found that even though you eat more indulgently, somehow I didn't gain weight, and even lost slightly. I think it is that the food is less processed. As Neslis mentioned, maybe you can try walking around exploring. Since I was there on vacation we walked endlessly, and as I mentioned, unbelievably, I lost a couple of pounds. 51Karen - you're right, if you can just win the battle of not bringing the food in, it make things alot easier. Unfortunately, once in a while I give in and convince myself that I'll just eat it sparingly, like have 1 cookie a day. Every time I do this though, I end up eating way more than I had planned. Mockingbird - "you're a girl after my own heart" LOL...cheese is also my favorite food. Unfortunately, although somewhat nutritious, it is very high in calories/fat and very easy to eat several portions. I can't tell you how often I was having cheese and crackers as an evening snack, and eating much more cheese verses crackers. I stopped keeping it in the house, because it just wasn't worth ruining my goals. It might be easier to address each of your weight loss obstacles one by one, instead of taking them all on at once. As 5327 mentioned, looking into activities with your child sounds like a good way to start getting active. Also, I wouldn't worry so much about having smaller meals throughout the day. That doesn't work for everyone, you need to find the best approach for you. Good luck! Leelee |

Hi everyone, Penny - congrats on getting back into your exercise routine full force! Ice - I am also not a fan of eating mini meals. I never get full that way. I've tried it a few times and I always end up eating too many "not so small" meals. Martoon - Congrats on the 32 pds. As Penny said, when you have a lot to lose it often comes off quick in the beginning, if you are sticking to it. I think this is especially true for men, because men tend to have faster results. Hi everyone, The single biggest issue I am having losing weight is portion control. I don't mind eating the healthier options. It's just that I eat too much of it and often end up going over my calories. Any suggestions are appreciated! skubler - I definitely can relate to your frustration, but try not to get too discouraged. At the very least, you are making some healthy changes to your lifestyle. Hi, Hope everyone had a great weekend! Even though I went out to eat Saturday I really stuck to my eating plan. I enjoyed what I ate, and didn't have the guilt from over doing it. I missed my spin class Saturday. However, I went to visit my cousin yesterday and we went walking at the park she works out in and it was an intense workout, lots of hills & stuff (even some steps). It was great!! Penny - glad to hear your husband is ok!! Jodi - great recipe/idea for the homemade chai latte; I'm going to try it! Leelee

Hi everyone, It's a beautiful Spring Saturday here in NY! Gracie - Have a very Happy Anniversary. Relax and enjoy the day off! Earthmom, Jodi - I'm a big starbucks fan. There is one in my office work building, but I am trying to cut myself back to once or twice at most per week, since it is costly. My fav drink there right now is the chai tea latte. Martoon - Happy Birthday!! I think 21 is such a big b-day here in the states b/c 21 is the legal drinking age. I'm guessing it is different in the UK; is it 18? Also, don't be so hard on yourself today. Splurges are fine once in a while. Penny - glad to see you & glad your mother in-law is doing well. I'm happy you had a great time on your trip! Leelee
